I guess I’m not entirely sure if this is the right spot for this, but I have a question. I’ve got this massive, paralyzing fear of dentists and anything involving dental work, mostly because my pain tolerance is pretty much non-existent, so I haven't stepped foot in an office in a few years. My teeth are starting to get into some real trouble, though I suppose there might still be hope if I actually get moving on this soon, so I was wondering if it's possible to take something like a sedative pill or something similar... and if those things actually tend to help much.😬

Does anyone know a good gynecologist around the Philadelphia area? I don't really mind if it's through insurance or a private practice, honestly. Thanks 🙂

I mean, you can definitely find a great private eye clinic in the Chicago area that won't look down on a cheapskate like me
and won't judge my budget too hard!!! I just really don't want to have to take out a massive loan just to get my teeth fixed.

I doubt it would do much, personally. Honestly, I think the only thing that really works is just getting the local anesthesia so you don't feel a thing—assuming you aren't terrified of needles! :P I had to get one when I had a wisdom tooth pulled, and the pinch is way less intense than the actual drilling part, probably just because the injection only takes about 20 seconds.

My dentist is actually wonderful—and she isn't even in private practice. She really gets that I'm sensitive to pain, and whenever I ask her to give me some extra 👍

Can someone please point me toward a decent dentist in Miami? I don't mind going private, but let's not go overboard on the price, okay? Also looking for a gynecologist covered by my insurance. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone actually had an OCT scan done there? What’s the damage for that? Also, what does a standard eye exam cost and what am I actually getting for it? It looks like they might just have one younger doctor listed on their site.

If you have any intel or can recommend a different doctor, let me know—DM is fine too. I really need somewhere where I can ask questions without feeling rushed through the appointment.

Binoculus is a total train wreck. I had a nasty case of conjunctivitis once that made my vision blurry—felt like my prescription had spiked overnight—and they basically pressured me into buying glasses with the most expensive Zeiss lenses ($1000). They practically tried to force contact lenses on me, too. Needless to say, those glasses ended up in the trash two weeks later because the prescription was twice what I actually needed. They were incredibly pushy with that whole "buy everything now" attitude. It was infuriating.
At first glance, though, they seemed nice enough. The doctor was charming and all that...
But yeah, there is zero chance I'm ever stepping foot in there again.😠

Thanks for letting me know. I actually didn't end up going to Binoculus after all; I went to an Eye Care Center for my exam instead. They found some new retinal degeneration in one of my eyes, and since I already dealt with a retinal detachment in that same eye about a year and a half ago, I'm... I guess I'm pretty worried. Now I'm searching for a solid retinologist—you know, a specialist for the back part of the eye. Since I have this history, I really need regular checkups, but I hardly ever get called in for appointments at the hospital.

Does anyone here have any experience with the Bilić Vision clinic? Specifically, that doctor they list on their website who specializes in the posterior segment? Also, if anyone has a recommendation for another ophthalmologist-retinologist, please let me know. You can always send me a private message.

Thanks so much in advance.

Bilić is a nightmare. She’s high-strung, impossible to deal with, and way overpriced. You walk in for a basic checkup and they hit you with 250/$100??
I was perfectly happy with the Eye clinic near the park. I went in for some conjunctivitis issues and the service was great.

Thanks for getting back to me. I actually sent you a DM, so if you wouldn't mind, could you reply to me there too? I’m still planning on going to my follow-up appointments at the hospital, but while I'm just waiting for my next scheduled check-up there, I was thinking about maybe heading to a private eye clinic for a quick exam... just to be absolutely certain nothing bad is happening with my eye.

Hey there,
I'm currently studying in New York and I really need to get an appointment with a doctor, but I'm honestly feeling a bit lost—I have no clue what the whole process looks like or even how to go about getting signed up. Does anyone happen to know how this works? Thanks a bunch!😉

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for an eye clinic or maybe some kind of outpatient facility where I could go for a vision checkup free of charge? Ideally somewhere in the Washington, D.C. area... and obviously, I’m looking for a place with actual expertise, where people have had genuinely positive experiences with the doctors and the staff.
thanks 🙂

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reputable private endocrinologist in Washington, D.C., specifically someone who holds a Ph.D.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me toward a reliable private gynecologist or endocrinologist in Washington, D.C., specifically someone holding a PhD or doctoral degree. I’m looking for help for my daughter; she’s dealing with PCOS, and her hormones are all over the place, which has started causing her hair to thin out. If anyone has a recommendation they actually trust, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm looking for a dermatologist—someone who actually takes the time to listen and can finally get my acne under control. Private practice is perfectly fine.

Look, I'm not sure about their specific academic titles, but if Dr. Fauci can't sort this out, he'll at least point you toward the right specialist... 01-652-2146

I'd say try this: just find a local clinic or community health center that's close to where you're living, swing by there, and ask if they can take you on as a patient. After that, you'll probably have to head over to the Social Security Administration or a similar government office to get your coverage verified or whatever.div>

Honestly, just go see an ophthalmologist through your primary care referral—use your insurance and get a formal referral sent over.
