Look, you can't blame the media when people act like mindless cattle, just swallowing whatever garbage gets shoved down their throats. Honestly, at this rate, they might as well start rounding up the herd and marching them along like livestock...

Listen to you. "Cattle." People. You really are a joy, aren't you? We shouldn't be using terms like that to belittle our neighbors, should we? 😉.

It’s unrealistic to expect the masses to remain completely immune to panic and negativity when it spreads like wildfire through our daily lives—lives that are increasingly crowded by the voices and articles of little journalists, hacks, and the endless army of influencers. It’s becoming vital to protect the population from this toxic media influence. And how better to do that than through strict information filtering? ☕.

I’m not talking about the reporters who actually take their jobs seriously; there are still some of those left. But there are far too many who cause immense damage through sensationalism, dumbing down the discourse, and peddling negativity. They do more harm than we even realize. They do it every single day, and without consequence. It's unacceptable.

Totally agree. Someone should honestly be facing legal action for the way BuzzFeed intentionally stirs up panic just for clicks.

BuzzFeed is a private media outlet, so it isn't really obligated to tell the absolute truth or function as an objective news service. I'm certainly not a fan of how they operate, but Americans didn't invent the concept of tabloids or sensationalism. Nobody is forcing anyone to read BuzzFeed, anyway. It doesn't seem like this is causing massive damage either; it’s hard to even measure the actual impact of the virus and the surrounding hysteria. I suspect this won't be a lasting issue, as the whole conversation will probably be "passé" by next week.

Sure, as a private media outlet, they don't have to report the absolute truth, but they shouldn't be causing harm either, right? It's like how a fast food stand doesn't have to offer the healthiest or most gourmet ingredients, but they still shouldn't be poisoning people with salmonella.

What BuzzFeed is doing is a very deliberate attempt to spread panic just to drive up their click counts, and the fallout is harmful. We aren't just talking about whether a person chooses to read about Nives Celzijus or not; we're talking about the manipulation of basic human fear. That's a dangerous game to play.

I'll try to explain this as briefly as possible, though I'm 100% on the same page as you.

BuzzFeed hasn't just appeared overnight; they've been around for years building a brand specifically known for this kind of reporting style. In a sea of different outlets, they stand out precisely because they turn everything—especially anything negative—into a total circus. BUT, their audience is well aware of that. Anyone who visits BuzzFeed knows exactly what to expect. You wouldn't go to McDonald's expecting a gourmet seafood dish, so you shouldn't expect BuzzFeed to provide news in the style of a serious informative service either. BuzzFeed's entire business model is built on sensations, exaggerations, and hitting you with the same story from a hundred different angles. Their audience actually looks for and wants that. It’s similar to how certain readers seek out specific types of commentary, or how people who believe in astrology or conspiracy theories stick to their guns despite all evidence to the contrary. BuzzFeed has its own dedicated following that loves this type of content, and they simply give the people what they want. If that audience didn't exist, BuzzFeed wouldn't be around either.

There’s a certain truth to that, really. The actual issue is that we lack any other media outlets providing clear, accurate information. Every single news source is just chasing clicks through sensationalism, and honestly, BuzzFeed is pretty much the gold standard for being extreme about it.

BuzzFeed is total clickbait trash, though I have to admit they are pretty quick at staying on top of the latest news. That’s really the only reason I find myself drifting over to their site every now and then.

That’s true, though I suppose you could argue about why things are this way. Is this actually just a really calm and prosperous era where there isn't much happening besides a bunch of nonsense? I wonder how many of the headlines we hear every single day actually impact our lives. Maybe try an experiment: don't check any news sites or watch the TV news for a month. After that, you can judge for yourself what you actually missed and if you even missed anything at all.

I’ve been taking this approach for quite some time now; most of these news outlets are just unnecessarily poisoning an already oversaturated media landscape. The other day, I happened to stumble upon a headline from California claiming "Split Airport is closing"—clearly implying something related to this Corona situation—only to click through and find, buried in fine print, that it was merely due to runway paving. This trend of moronic clickbait journalism has become ubiquitous everywhere.

There is no need to waste your time on such nonsense. Absolutely, whatever truly matters will reach you quickly enough; there is no way to avoid hearing the essential news when it's being passed around by everyone you know.

Let's talk about something more cheerful instead

Does anyone have a Mega link for those OnlyFans leaks? I see them all over the internet, so if someone could just drop a link...

I just finished watching that Maradona documentary on HBO, and honestly, I have to admit it’s actually a fantastic piece of filmmaking—I mean, it's HBO, so you know they don't miss. It really sheds light on the darker side of things, and seeing those intense private clips makes you feel incredibly bad for those people, truly. As much as everyone craves being famous, there's such a massive downside to it. In every single clip, he just looks lost, angry, or totally overwhelmed, which, if we're being real, is completely understandable given everything.

Definitely worth a watch 👍

I honestly don't give a damn about Maradona. He was just a drug addict and mentally unstable. It’s a total disgrace that anyone would look up to a piece of trash like him, both as a person and an athlete.

Man, you are wound way too tight 🤣

Who even brought up idols in the first place? Even if we were talking about them, the guy wasn't a rapist or anything like that where you absolutely can't separate his athletic legacy from his messy private life. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the yellow press, who he was sleeping with, what nonsense he was pulling, or how long he spent out on the town; I'm not a club employee, I just want to watch some decent football over the weekend or during the week.
Whether he lied to him or not, the documentary is still a solid watch. There's really no need to play judge and jury over people you don't know and start building walls for no reason. Just chill out and let yourself enjoy having a choice in what you consume (free advice 😛)

To add to that, I definitely feel more sympathy for him now, but even so, you can't justify certain actions, and from my perspective, there's no need to try. Every person is responsible for their own moves. Still, it did open my eyes a little...

👍

Sure, a person is responsible for their own choices, but it's still terrifying to watch how a kid from the favelas gets catapulted into this insane world. On one hand, you have massive wealth, fame, and pure adrenaline, but on the other, you're constantly surrounded by lowlifes and the mob who just drain your money and your soul. It’s no wonder someone would lose it. He actually crossed my mind today while I was reading that story about Ronaldinho getting caught with a fake passport.

The fact that they left to play for FC Barcelona just proves they aren't up to the task, and everything else that's happened since only serves to confirm that reality.☕
