The whole world has gone completely insane, especially here in our neck of the woods in the US. I mean, seriously, what would actually happen if a disease hit us with a legitimate mortality rate—the kind that used to sweep the globe back in the day? These fragile little states of ours would just crumble instantly. 🙏

And now, I just know someone’s gonna waltz in and say, "Oh, people are dying from this illness." Yeah, no kidding. The elderly and people already battling other stuff. So... what, like every other serious disease ever? And don't even get me started on the "expert" advice flying around, like "make sure to wash your hands." Give me a break. If you need a global pandemic to be the trigger for you to finally wash your damn hands, you're beyond help. 🙏

Honestly, in Italy, only about 57% of people actually wash their hands after using the restroom. There might be more to this story than meets the eye, or maybe there's a real reason behind those numbers. 😁

It honestly gets under my skin every single time I spot someone who clearly didn't bother washing their hands after using the restroom. And I'm not just talking about some one-off thing I noticed once or twice.
Yeah, apparently we actually have to remind grown adults that handwashing is a thing. It sounds ridiculous, but it’s the truth...

It’s probably not going to infect you just because you didn't wash your hands after using the restroom.

The real risk is if you shook hands with someone who failed to wash theirs after they were done. 😁

Think about it: you go, you wash up, you walk out, and then you grab the door handle—but it’s like it doesn't matter, because someone before you who skipped the soap already touched that exact same handle. 😁

Maybe we should just install automatic sliding doors in every bathroom.

I didn't get banned yesterday or the day before for saying Italians are a ridiculous nation, because honestly, it's just a fact.

Maybe I'll get hit with a ban again for repeating myself, but hey, it's the truth.

There is actually a fix for this. 🧐
After you wash your hands, grab a paper towel, hold onto it, and use that to pull the door open. 🙂

Everyone’s just gross. Honestly, I’m physically revolted whenever I walk out of a Target or some other shopping center, because most people don't even bother washing their hands. They're just like, "Eh, whatever, they look clean enough." It’s insane. Like, we aren't talking about something intense like getting circumcised here—it's just a simple, pleasant little ritual where you actually use warm water and soap.

Me? I just use my forearm to hit all those high-risk spots, like WCA. 😁

I really hope they at least wash their hands after using the restroom.

Honestly, it gets even worse for me when I’m riding the subway and I see someone gripping a handrail and then immediately touching their mouth with that same hand.🕺

Yeah, I guess they've started rolling out those locations where you only get the hand dryer. No paper towels anymore.

So then you just pull back with your elbow.

The strongest part of what you're saying is how you just wash your hands of the whole thing. Like some guy walks out of the restroom and just keeps on walking. 🙄

So yesterday, I get to work, brew myself a coffee, and head outside with my colleague for a quick smoke break. Out of nowhere, this delivery guy shows up with newspapers and some mail. He stops barely a foot away from us, lets out a massive sneeze right from his nose, wipes the gunk with his fingers, and then reaches straight into his pocket to grab envelopes before heading inside to the front desk.

Let’s just say I absolutely lost it. I stormed right after him, ready to go off on that guy and his entire family tree.

It’s wild to think that our bodies actually contain more bacteria than our own cells. Just something to chew on. Even though I'm pretty diligent about washing my hands and don't consider myself messy, I guess there might be a limit to how much we should overdo it. It seems like people are developing more allergies these days, and maybe one reason is that our environments have become a bit too sterile. Our parents' generation mostly grew up around farms or rural areas where they were constantly interacting with animals, dirt, and all that nature stuff. In even earlier generations, that was just life. The way we live now probably isn't the "default" biological state for humans. I suspect our bodies really need that interaction with the environment, especially with microbes. We can't function without billions of foreign organisms inside us, and honestly, it's hard to clearly draw a line between "good" and "bad" bacteria. So, I suppose grabbing a handrail on a subway isn't going to kill anyone. If you're looking to live a long life, the guidelines seem pretty straightforward: maintain a healthy weight, eat a diverse diet, stay active, don't smoke, and so on. Personally, I'd recommend plenty of exercise and sex—that's why you worked so hard on those bodies, after all! 🙂

🤣🤣

Bacteria are our allies, but viruses? They're the enemy. 🧐

Look, I don't have anything against riding the subway, but after doing that, I am definitely not touching my face.

Plus, people are constantly pumping themselves full of various medications for absolutely no reason instead of letting their bodies build up natural immunity. It’s especially bad with kids—they get hit with drugs for every little thing from the moment they can walk.

I was reading somewhere that there's been a massive spike in children developing allergies to pretty much everything.

Yeah, my kid had an immediate egg allergy. She’s over it now, but she definitely had some intense skin reactions at first. As for me, I developed a spring pollen allergy around age 30, and then later on, after getting married in my mid-20s, ragweed allergies kicked in too. Honestly, I feel like I know more people struggling with allergies than those who don't have any at all. We might feel this constant pressure to be perfectly clean and smelling great all the time, but I guess our bodies just weren't built for that kind of lifestyle. They aren't really designed for sitting indoors all day, either. I'm not suggesting we all become total slobs—I'm certainly not—but maybe there's a middle ground where we don't overdo things.

If this guy actually knows what he's talking about, we might be in much deeper trouble than I thought.
