On one hand, I see where they were coming from, but on the other, I find it hard to wrap my head around how we haven't managed to scale up mass production by now.

That is to say, I suppose it’s just the typical, predictable incompetence you'd expect from an GOP supporter.

The reason they shifted everything to China was all about cutting costs. Most of the masks available worldwide are made in China.

Of course there’s no real collapse—it’s just "every man for himself" at this point. If you die at home, nobody’s even gonna notice 😁 And I'm not even making this up on the fly; about a month ago, right when they were rolling out all these new restrictions, my old man got hit with this massive, blinding pain in the middle of the night. Turns out it was just kidney stones. You wouldn't believe the absolute nonsense and hoops they made him jump through just to get some basic pain meds at the ER 🙏

Hospitals are looking pretty damn empty

We all know exactly whose little initiative this was from the start...
The holy headquarters and the holy church...

So what's the fallout? In Germany, they've been doing this for like a hundred years already.

Bigger crowds on Saturdays
How exactly do you explain why they pushed this through right now, specifically when the crowds are at their worst?
Especially since we're seeing people finally heading back to their weekday jobs from Monday to Friday...

As far as I'm aware, that law dates all the way back to 1956.
2020 minus 1956 equals 100.
Bravo...

An interesting theory—that retail will see lower profits simply because people will just spend that same money on a different day? ☕

In Germany, even crooked crises are banned. Is that really what you want?

Honestly, Sunday work should probably be scrapped entirely—but hey, why are they cooking up this nonsense now? Who knows. It’s all just one giant improvisation at this point. Those working the standard Mon-Fri grind aren't pulling 8 AM to 9 PM shifts (well, most of them aren't, anyway), so I don't see any issue with this.

I think maybe in Austria they’ve had Sunday bans for like a hundred years or something... or maybe I just read that somewhere.

Am I allowed to repair excavators on a Sunday?
I am.
So why is retail being prevented from operating on a Sunday?

Seriously, has anyone actually asked the people working here if they even want to work on Sundays? Like, is anyone forcing you? Pretty sure the shop owners aren't exactly clocking in on a Sunday themselves.😉

If you are, let it be noted for the record that my opinion is that things are only getting progressively worse as time marches on. It seems to me that while the healthcare aspect was handled quite well, everything else has become such a chaotic mess that "colorful" doesn't even begin to describe it.

All this ambiguity, the sheer lack of logic, and the constant contradictions—it's enough to drive people mad, and there's just more of it every single day.

Of course I'm talking about you. 🙂

And I totally agree with what you said, because things are just spiraling out of control since the topics are getting wider and wider, and they aren't even qualified to handle all these different sectors anymore, plus they're basically asking for it since Capak keeps trying to answer questions that aren't even his business.

At this point, they either need to bring in actual experts from other fields to bolster the task force, or they really need to stop putting the entire spotlight on them, because there is zero sense in having Alemka explaining how hotel pools are going to be used in the summer (to use a metaphor), or having Capak weigh in on whether people can try products in grocery stores (and I'm not even joking 🤦).

I couldn't disagree more.
We shouldn't be banning work; we should be paying for it properly.
If we follow that logic, should we just ban everyone else from working too? What makes retail employees so special that they shouldn't work on Sundays, unlike nurses, police officers, or journalists?...

To me, banning any kind of labor is utterly senseless.

Has anyone actually bothered to ask a police officer if they’re planning on working this weekend?...

And please, don't come at me with that populist nonsense; it’s clear enough that the owners are the ones pulling the strings here...
That is such a low blow that it actually says more about you than anything else...

It’s as if my boss actually cares whether I’m putting in work on a Sunday. As if. Does he really give a damn?
He tells me, "Look, if you've got an excavator sitting there, go ahead and fix it yourself. If you don't want to? Well, there's plenty of other people out there who will."

By the way, I used to know a few shop owners who were willing to work on Sundays. They ended up hitting rock bottom after they were hit with that last ban on Sunday operations, and now they won't even show up on the other days of the week. What's left after that?

They ask you about signing an employment contract. What are you even talking about?

you really think stores around here would stay open if they had to cough up an extra 200 bucks$100 for every Sunday shift? It’d be "unprofitable" faster than you can blink.

Honestly, if you think a grocery store is just as important as a hospital where people are literally fighting for their lives—man, just go find some therapy or something.

Dude, this is America, not Germany 🙄

I'm basically on my first vacation since 2019—it's April 2020 now—so what the hell are you even talking about?

Prika, look, the US is huge, and if you aren't feeling the vibe under the current boss, you just pack your bags and head somewhere better, because none of those Sunday work bans or minimum wage nonsense is going to save you.
