Yeah, staring at a fridge full of yogurt and picking out apples is definitely the peak of weekend boredom.

In Japan, plenty of shops stay open 24/7, so I guess that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't smart. It seems easy to just cherry-pick an example that fits your point. At the end of the day, stores are private businesses, and it's really up to their own leadership to decide if those hours make sense for their bottom line.

I mean, there are definitely people out there living that life, no matter how pathetic it sounds.

If that's how you're playing it, I guess you're basically arguing that America should just open its doors to thousands of immigrants, right?

Look, it's a solid business move because, let's face it, you aren't really getting paid any extra for working Sundays compared to any other day of the week. If anyone tried to mandate that Sunday pay should be a 300-$$133 premium, you can bet your life it wouldn't fly anytime soon.

It’s not like working on Sundays is banned, so how would people get to church? Are you saying they’d choose money over Jesus?

I honestly feel for those women spending their Sundays grinding away at some soul-crushing job for a local church parish—stuck inside where they barely see a glimpse of the sun or the moon, when they really ought to be home with their families. It’s why I usually try to avoid hitting the stores on that day. Though, occasionally, if something is open, I'll pop in just because I have to.

Look, I realize plenty of people work Sundays; hell, I’ve probably worked more Sundays than I've had days off in my life. To me, it’s just another day—the sun rises in the east, sets in the west, and 24 hours pass by regardless. But if anyone actually *needs* to be home on the weekend, it's mothers with kids. I have zero desire to be the reason a liter of fabric softener, a pack of croissants, and some shaving cream stands between a mother and her child.☕

Go screw yourselves, you anti-religious jerks. Seriously, if your entire purpose in life is just mocking people, you're pathetic.

The direct fallout from banning Sunday shifts is going to be thousands of people losing their jobs.

It’s honestly on the same level as messing with the federal minimum wage.

Most people just don't seem to wrap their heads around how much this actually impacts real lives.

Please refrain from mocking Christianity 🙂

We have been left completely disenfranchised 🙂

Yeah, right—I guess they'll just go make masks and gloves back in rural Ohio instead.

Could someone perhaps provide some clarification regarding this profound assertion?

There’s nothing deep about it, honestly, it’s just basic math at the end of the day.

If all those hours people aren't working on Sundays don't get paid, you really just have to crunch the numbers.

Just to make it super easy to wrap your head around, let's say you have a local grocery store with six employees. If you pass a law banning Sunday shifts, you've basically wiped out six shifts from the schedule, which means one whole worker becomes redundant because their weekly hours just vanished.

It's a simplified way to look at it, but it gets the point across perfectly.

Did you seriously think you could just pass a law to screw over small business owners and expect them to maintain the exact same payroll costs while their revenue takes a hit?

In most stores, they’re already shorthanded—I mean, you walk into some places that are like 5,000 square feet and there are literally only three people working the whole floor.

And then what about the places where they actually have plenty of people? What are we supposed to do with them then?

I honestly don't have the energy to read through this whole thing right now... did anyone catch when they said the curfew is actually getting lifted?
