Overclocking (Main Thread)

If you actually understood how overclocking works, you'd realize that RAM performance is tied directly to the FSB. The memory frequency scales alongside the processor—meaning they move in parallel, though not necessarily at an equal rate 🙂. One is fundamentally dependent on the other

?? When exactly did you run the check? And what’s the status now?
Maybe you should try reading a technical guide first... RTFM.

Hey everyone... sorry to bother you, but I don't know much about overclocking. Just wondering if everything would run smoothly if I decided to push this rig. Here are my specs:
HDD-320 GB Samsung
GPU-ATI Radeon X1650 256 MB
CPU-AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2099 MHz
RAM-2 GB Geil CL 4-4-DDR2-800
Sensor type-ITE IT8712F (ISA 290h)
-----TEMPERATURES-----
Motherboard-47
CPU-25
Aux-37
HDD-29
-----COOLING-----
Case-2778
CPU-2789
Thanks for the input...

Hey guys, maybe someone already asked this, but I'm too lazy to go hunting for it. Can anyone explain how to overclock DDR2 RAM?

If this guy actually understood how micrometers and clock speeds work, he'd realize that RAM performance is tied directly to the FSB. The memory frequency scales alongside the processor—they move in tandem, even if they aren't perfectly equal. One is inherently linked to the other.
That’s what Edward Peterson70 was saying a few posts back.

I'm looking for some clarity here too—I've scrolled through everything posted before, but I honestly can't make head or tail of it all.
I'm trying to overclock an AMD Sempron 3200+ socket 939 1800 MHz.
Here's the rest of my setup:
2.5 GB DRR
Asus A8R-MX/dp
Gigabyte hd 2600 pro 512 gddr2
The goal is to push the CPU up to 2.0+ GHz.
Temperatures after running Crysis (DX10) for about an hour:
Motherboard: 46 °C (115 °F)
CPU: 48 °C (118 °F)
Aux: 44 °C (111 °F)
GPU diode: 57 °C (135 °F)
Field | Current Value
Sensor Info:
Sensor Type: Winbond W83627EHF/EHG (ISA 290h)
GPU Sensor Type: Diode (ATI-Diode)
Case is open: Yes
Cooling:
CPU: 1527 RPM
Chassis: 1418 RPM
Voltages:
CPU Core: 1.46 V
Aux: 3.65 V
+3.3 V: 3.31 V
+5 V: 5.56 V
+12 V: 12.83 V
If anyone could break this down for me a bit, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!!!

Alright, first things first, you’ll need to pick up:
Cooler
Thermal Paste
And maybe a few of these (since you're working with an mATX board, I'm assuming it's tucked away in a mini-tower where a 120mm fan won't fit, but honestly, an 80mm fan will do just fine)
Fans
Once you have those items on hand, we can dive deeper into the details. ☕Shall we talk then?
Edit: Hmm, perhaps we should look at the power supply as well...

Heh...
I don't need any more fans or power supplies—I've already got plenty of those lying around...
What I actually need is just the process of overclocking itself. 😉

I pushed my Kingmax 2 x 512 onto 677 MHz to try and hit 800 MHz. I'm assuming there shouldn't be much of an issue since Kingmax lists both speeds as basically the same thing, right?
I disabled Cool & Quiet and set the PCI-E back to the standard 100MHz. Bumped the CPU voltage from 1.375 up to 1.4V and cranked the FSB by 50... Ran Prime95, and it stayed stable with temps hitting a max of 50 degrees. SuperPi also passed every single time I bumped the FSB by 5—everything seems fine (the 1M test went from 54 seconds before the overclock to 41 seconds after)
Since I'm pretty new to the whole overclocking scene, are there any other potential headaches I should look out for?

If everything is running stably, then there isn't much left for you to tinker with 🙂
However, I would suggest pushing the processor even further; I suspect you can squeeze quite a bit more out of it at that voltage... those Sempron chips are practically built for overclocking

Can someone please give me a detailed breakdown on how to overclock an 8600 GT 1024 MB DDR2?
#2540 ·
Passive cooling. I've managed to push it to 1300MHz using 2.5V, but I'm definitely not going any higher than that for some pretty obvious reasons... if I bumped it up to 2.7V or maybe 2.8V, I might be able to squeeze out around 1350-1370MHz, or at least that's my best guess...
That's a solid meme, honestly, you can't deny it... 🙂
