I am not certain if you provided any advice on overclocking. I haven't actually asked anyone about that yet. If you happen to know how, would you please share? Thank you.

Adam Garcia69 said:I downloaded that ATI utility and tried overclocking my graphics card, but by default I'm seeing 459/400. I've got an 8400 GS and I've been sitting here for an hour and a half watching that little countdown box spin. How much longer am I supposed to wait on this? Also, when I try to set it manually, say to 615/400, it works for a second, but then as soon as I reboot the PC, everything just snaps back to the factory defaults.😕 😕Can anyone who actually uses this software walk me through the whole process from start to finish so I can get it running right? And if anyone happens to know the upper limits for this specific card, let me know!🤷 🤷

You'd be better off just downloading MSI Afterburner.

I actually gave RivaTuner a shot. But for some reason, every time I reboot my PC, everything just reverts back to the default settings. Why does that happen?😕

You’ll need to adjust that in the settings... basically, just keep an eye on the clock while you're pushing the load, making sure the temps don't spike too high or start throwing artifacts on the screen.

Just so it doesn't look like I'm just sitting here talking without actually doing anything.
Here are the latest OC results.

2 Kyle Sanchez4, honestly, it’s not bad at all... even if you didn't quite push that GPU to its absolute limits... I think there's still plenty of headroom left to squeeze out more performance...

Hey guys, how does overclocking actually work?

Quick update... dream achieved: hit 10,000 on 3DMark. 👍

Fan speed is sitting at 84% right now. I'll try pushing it to a tolerable 90% and let you know how it goes.

By the way, Everest is reporting it wrong: stock speeds should be 500MHz core and 800MHz memory (2x 800MHz).

Current stats: 3DMark at 10304, core clock 595MHz, shader 1350MHz, memory 837MHz, fan speed 88%...
Hit 90% and I was already losing my mind. It’s sitting at 2600 RPM right now.

What kind of motherboard are you running? Is that processor a 266x11

Yeah, CPU is 11x266. Motherboard is a Gigabyte 946GMX-S2. I'm stuck with a 266 FBI max.

The motherboard isn't exactly top-tier, no offense intended👍, but you should give Multi 10 a shot

I know. The board is junk, but it doesn't matter. Even a 10x multiplier won't help... the manual clearly states the limit is 266.

Maybe flashing the BIOS could do the trick🤷, though honestly, you're fine with just 2.2. My rig is running at 333x9 and I can't tell there's even a difference

Kyle Sanchez4 said:I know, I know, the motherboard is basically a piece of junk at this point, but honestly, it doesn't even matter anymore... I mean, even cranking things up with a Multi 10 isn't doing a lick of good, it's just like hitting a brick wall...So, I was just digging through the technical documentation—you know how it is, getting lost in all those fine print details—and it actually says right there in the manual that the maximum is only 266... which is honestly a bit of a bummer if you were hoping for more speed, isn't it?

Haha, honestly, I think it’s probably best if I just stay quiet and not say a single word about this one...😁

That's a pretty impressive number, I suppose.
