Wait, so how does 133 x 6 equal 2000? That math isn't looking too great to me... ;D

Also, could you walk me through what latency actually is?

I went ahead and dropped mine down to 390/790. Just to be safe, I suppose.

Here’s an example... when I check the proc IDLE, it shows a multiplier of 6x, but once it actually starts running, it jumps to 11x.

MIT
Check your voltage in CPU-Z while it's sitting at 11x—do it once with EIST turned on and again with it turned off.

Everything's fine... why would I even look at that? Just pointing out an example because of Michael Chavez... why on earth is he seeing 6x

I see you're running the same processor as mine. Mine stays at the factory setting of 2.2GHz. Would you mind sharing your overclocking process if you're willing? I'd love to push mine up to at least 2.8 or 2.9.

I have an ASUS P5LD2 motherboard that allows FSB settings ranging from 100 to 450 MHz, with a multiplier of 20 on my Pentium D (2.66 GHz). The Stock FBI is set at 133, but during my first boot today, I saw a BIOS temperature of 53 degrees... is that even normal?! When I bumped the FSB to 166, I hit 3.2GHz, but temperatures climbed to 57. Since I can adjust the FSB by 1 MHz increments, does it actually make sense to hunt for some non-standard frequency between 133 and 166? Should I invest in a Core 2 processor or just buy a better cooler, or perhaps both? If so, which ones...

Bumped the Stock FBI and made sure the memory wasn't too aggressive... went up in 5MHz increments. Every time the PC rebooted after a bump, I'd run a CPU stress test in Everest to check temps. Eventually hit my motherboard's limit.

Just bumped the FSB while keeping an eye on the RAM timings... kept the increments to 5MHz at a time. Every time the system rebooted after a bump, I’d run a CPU stress test in Everest to monitor temps. Eventually hit the limit of what the motherboard would allow.

Honestly, you pulled off an impressive result even with the hardware you’re running...😉

Does anyone here have much experience tinkering with overclocking an Athlon X2 5000+ BE?
I was reading online that you might be able to push the frequency up to 2920 MHz, though it doesn't really say how much I'd need to bump up the voltage to get it there reliably.

I’ve read somewhere that you can push the frequency up to 2920 MHz, but there isn't much info on how much extra voltage is required to get it there...

LINK
There was some discussion about overclocking this specific chip over at this link; it seems pretty straightforward. You should be able to break past the 2.9GHz mark without too much trouble, too...

Can someone please help me out? I just bought a network card and everything is plugged in. The computer boots up fine, but I have no clue how to install the driver. I really need this card to get my internet speeds up!

Does anyone happen to have a link somewhere detailing the overclocking limits for an Intel Core 2 Duo?

So, I have a few questions if you don't mind... I've been reading up on overclocking on various forums for a couple of days now, but whenever I actually open my BIOS and see all those intense options, I get a bit lost.😕

My specs are in my signature.

I tried following what darkowl72 recommended, so here is how I set it up:
I bumped the Intel up by 5-6 and ended up at 11x237 (2.61GHz)
Set PCIe lock to 100
JEDEC at 2.40
For the Latency settings, I used 5-5-5-18 for the first four numbers.
(Disabled EIST, Thermal monitor, and CPU enhanced halt)
Voltages are still at default.
I'm just using the stock cooler.

Orthos has been running for about 40 minutes now, and so far, everything seems fine.
Core Temp shows the cores are sitting around 56-58 C.

A few questions:
- Is there anything else I should probably tweak in the settings? Like the Latency—is it better to have higher or lower numbers?
- I’m planning to run this CPU 24/7, which I guess should be okay. Could I potentially push it even further with this stock cooler? (I'm not trying to hit some extreme record; I just want to feel good about getting a budget chip that performs like something twice the price.)

Thanks a lot.
