So, over the last ten posts, we've apparently established that Sandy has a great figure 😍

On another note, the festivals this year felt pretty dull to me, so I decided to head out. However, since I heard they offended Billy, I can get behind it

Broken Social Scene and LCD were 🙏 🙏 🙏

Pendulum was absolute garbage

The Flaming Lips are much better as a live act than on record

I didn't even catch Massive Attack because I was too tired

Morcheeba and that vocalist really rubbed me the wrong way 🤷

Broken Social Scene and Lipsi totally saved an otherwise pretty dull festival for me... Caribou was decent too, but the real highlight was definitely piece puzzle—they were such a blast 🙂

Yesterday was honestly such a blast, mostly because the weather was perfect and the lineup actually hit home for me much more than I expected from day one.
I danced my heart out during Dubioza kolektiv 😍 ahhh, just pure energy... The Flaming Lips were absolutely incredible (though I have to say, those floating balloons were a nice little touch, but since I wasn't a huge fan before, it almost made me wonder if they were using them as a distraction to blur the actual music... just a thought!) ... and then to wrap it all up, there was Flogging Molly 😍. Sadly, I couldn't even stay until the very end because after two days of non-stop jumping around, I knew I wouldn't be able to drag myself into work tomorrow...

Broken social scene ***1/2 - pretty decent for a sunny evening out
Caribou ***** - absolutely stellar—from the first note to the last
The Flaming Lips ***** - those half-stars were probably docked because of all the talking, but honestly, they made up for it with the sheer scale of the show, even if I missed the part I was actually most excited for
Massive Attack **** - I didn't have anyone with me in New Orleans, and there were definitely some dip moments, but overall, I'm feeling pretty good about it

Police Department with the flashing lights *****

The Flaming Lips were easily the highlight—absolutely stunning set. Massive Attack was also pretty solid, definitely a step up from their last few shows, though they’re still nowhere near that peak New Orleans energy from back in the day. Still, a good night. NYPC killed it too.

Day three was an absolute dream from start to finish. Pure bliss!
Now, the countdown begins for next week and Megadeth. <3

All things considered, it was a solid festival experience. Billy Idol has clearly aged out of his prime—that old spark just isn't there anymore. Massive Attack was nothing to write home about, though LCD Soundsystem was surprisingly impressive. As for Pendulum, they were easily the biggest surprise of the weekend; I found myself enjoying them more than expected. Honestly, I think I'll be spinning The Flaming Lips much more often from now on. But if you ask me, the absolute highlight had to be Skindred 🙏
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CylFpBvK-ZsI managed to grab some footage, and it actually turned out quite well, despite the crushing crowds 😁
The organization was seamless, and they certainly didn't run low on beer 😁

The overall vibe of the festival is pretty much ruined by this one recurring issue that happens year after year: half the lineup is absolute garbage. Honestly, I have no clue how a festival trying to maintain any kind of reputation can afford to make such massive blunders by booking acts like Bo or Zakon Nebo.
Flogging Molly absolutely crushed it, Rise Against was fantastic, and Skindred actually caught me off guard in a good way since I’d never heard them before, though I won't even bother commenting on the other act because they aren't even my style.

p.s.
For the love of God, why do they insist on cramming bands like TBF or Let 3 into festivals like this? Haven't we had enough of them? They are literally everywhere you look, popping up out of nowhere just like that pretentious nonsense...

The Flaming Lips are gods 🙏 🙏 🙏

Only their set was actually worth the money, but honestly, the whole day yesterday was killer—easily the best day of this five-year run at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival...

Props to the organizers... everything ran smooth, and the real MVP was the shuttle buses, which saved me from trekking all the way out to the Island 🙂

The Flaming Lips absolutely crushed it
Flogging Molly were freaking amazing, though I was just some kid heading home around midnight—I had an exam at 9 AM the next day, so I cut it short. But man, I stopped by the Massive Attack set and caught about five or six songs. The sound quality was terrible, honestly, which was a huge step up from when they played Madison Square Garden and sounded like absolute trash. The lyrics they projected on the wall, though? Top tier. 😁
Something like—"Dikan wants to shove things down my throat"😳

The day before wasn't anything special, but Billy was totally fine for me. He absolutely killed it during the encore

Honestly, the Flaming Lips alone made the ticket price worth it$97 and considering Massive Attack was on the bill too, that price actually feels pretty cheap compared to the rest of the lineup

Oh man, talk about pure luck! 🙂 Best night ever!
Broken Social Scene was lovely—a little quiet for my taste, unfortunately—but KC Accidental is hands down the best song ever written. 😍 They were playing somewhere in there and the crowd absolutely loved them, though it was almost time to wrap things up. 😢
And get this—Wayne spent a huge chunk of the set just hanging out on the side of the stage! ♥

Caribou was incredible. I caught them right after Odesse, and man, everything I managed to hear sounded freaking amazing. It’s such a shame they’re already playing in Belgrade today; honestly, if they were here tomorrow, I might have even made the trip... but whatever, I just really hope they bring them back to us again soon..

And then, the magical Flaming Lips! 🙏
Now, let me be clear—their music is absolutely fantastic!! But I haven't always been able to fully experience all the crazy stuff they do because of all their wild antics—though those antics are beautiful! We're talking millions of pieces of confetti, balloons, and confetti inside balloons everywhere! 😁 The disco balls weren't quite as big as the ones LCD Soundsystem uses 😬, but there were two of them, and Wayne was standing there pointing massive lasers right at them! 😲
The crowd got a little too loud at times, but hey, it was fine—we were all vibing, screaming Yeah Yeah Yeahs about seven hundred times, going absolutely feral during I Can Be a Frog, and singing along to Yoshimi like crazy! 😍
They played for about an hour and a half. Sadly, there wasn't a big encore, but they closed things out with Do You Realize?? ♥ ♫♪♫♪♪♪♫♫♫♫♫♫♫ ♥ amidst a literal explosion of confetti and streamers from every corner of the world! ♥

Massive Attack felt like the perfect vibe to close out a night like this—talk about hitting the target! At least, that's what I thought, but then this wave of paranoia hit. I think the people around me were feeling it too during the set... the setlist was kind of weird, and it felt like some hits like Unfinished Sympathy were missing—edit: OR WAIT, THEY WEREN'T!! 🤦,
But, to make up for it, they translated almost all the signs into American and used some local news headlines; the crowd had a hilarious reaction to Dikan 😂.
It felt a little out of place during Inertia Creeps, but oh well, it is what it is.
Deborah Miller only sang Safe from Harm, unfortunately.

After grabbing some kebabs, we hit up a silent disco. It’s such a cool concept, and it was a fun way to wind down, though most of the music was total garbage—mostly just Italo disco and some electronic nonsense, with maybe a couple of exceptions like a few tracks from The Prodigy..
Plus, a nice early morning stroll along the riverbank
.

Oh, I should mention the sound at the main stage was actually great, with one glaring exception: the vocals were way too quiet. :/
Otherwise, the organization has been the best yet..

Haha, "Dikan tried to shove weird objects in my mouth" right in the middle of an Inert Creeps set? That is absolutely priceless 🙏 🙏 😁

But honestly, Massive Attack is still better than anything from New Orleans. Their sound is incredible, and their shows blow both the Madison Square Garden gigs and those ones in Austin out of the water.

😕 Unfinished Sympathy was like the second or third song after Safa fra Harm

you're gonna carry that gloom from everything earlier, so you probably didn't even notice 😁

ugh, after The Flaming Lips, Massive Attack felt like a bucket of ice water... like, once FL lifts you up with all that optimism and joy, MA just reminds you that the world is still a cold dark place...

I caught Dubioza, and they were killer. Just great vibes and perfect for some snacking and hanging out. 😁
Then Skindred came on. Honestly, I’d never even heard of them before, but man, they blew me away. They absolutely electrified the crowd; the vocals are pure genius, and everyone just lost it during their set.
Flogging Molly was also top-tier. It was just as good as when they played in New Orleans a year ago, though I was freezing and exhausted, so I didn't really have the energy to jump around anymore. My only gripe is that they didn't play Whistles the Wind.
Once things wound down, I sat back for a bit and listened to Massive Attack. Visually, they're incredible. I don't actually listen to them much, so we were basically just killing time...

All in all, a pretty solid fifth Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for me. I missed last year, but I went to the VIP section back when The Prodigy, Serj Tankian, and Nick Cave were playing, and that was excellent too.

which didn't quite sit right with me alongside Inert Creeps, but whatever.

They definitely played Unfinished Sympathy, and of course, it was Deborah Miller singing.
