Alright, putting the exam season aside—indices and all that—has anyone actually used a student discount ticket yet? I’m wondering if there are any specific markings on them
so they don't end up asking for a full ID at the gate or something.

urbannomad30 said:Well, you can easily verify that just by looking at the X account... though I highly doubt they actually bother to check 🤷

edit: *that = as long as you still hold the rights

The thing is, you might still hold those rights even after your X account has expired...

Hey there! Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello to everyone! Hope you're all having an absolutely wonderful day so far! kaže:
Honestly, you can still exercise your rights even if your driver's license has already expired!

Wait, I’m sorry, I think I missed part of the conversation! Which rights are we talking about here? Could you refresh my memory? 😁

Oh my gosh, I am absolutely obsessed with that electro-cute aesthetic lately! There is just something about those bright, bubbly synth melodies paired with such playful, high-energy beats that makes me want to dance around my living room for hours on end. It’s like a total shot of pure sunshine straight to the brain, you know? I find myself getting completely lost in those shimmering, sugary textures—it's honestly such a mood lifter when everything else feels a bit heavy. I might be a little too enthusiastic about it, but I just can't help myself! kaže:
If you actually managed to graduate from that big-name university, you’d probably have a few more piercings by now! 🤷

Oh man, you know that feeling, right? Like, one minute you’re absolutely convinced you’ve completely lost your car keys, and you immediately go into full-blown panic mode, rushing to the police station to file a report, only to find them chilling behind the nightstand five minutes later! 😁

And to the guy who’s out there asking... honestly, you can always just give it a shot! 😬

Oh man, wouldn't it be absolutely incredible if they were playing in Seattle!

So, I’m basically a total science rookie here. What do you guys think about me trying to snag a ticket using my grad school ID? It looks pretty much identical to the other one—it says graduate studies on the badge, just without the all-caps treatment.

Student rights. Basically everything except for those meal plan subsidies.

For me, my student ID hasn't even worked at the campus bookstore for the last year and a half. Last year, I tried using it and the clerk just stared at the card, and the year before that, an administrator refused to accept my transcript because the student ID number wasn't listed on it—apparently, they expect the transfer students to have it printed clearly. So when I finally showed them the actual ID, she had to go find someone else to log it manually.

I really don't get what they're trying to accomplish here. As long as I maintain my full-time student status, I'll get my credentials regardless of whatever nonsense they think this ID number is about...😁

Oh my goodness! Guys, seriously, you need to stop being so paranoid! You can't make me dig through my old files and find photos of my tickets from three years ago just to prove a point to you all.
As far as I know—and there's no reason for this to change now—the tickets always list the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival info along with all the different price tiers for each sales period. Back in 2008, they even included a specific note about the discount, but for the last two years, it hasn't been explicitly mentioned, yet I bought mine with my student ID without any issues and got the deal. There is absolutely no name or surname printed on the tickets; they're just standard printed passes, and the only real security feature is a holographic seal.

If I were in your shoes, I’d just play dumb and act completely oblivious. Honestly, what does the poor girl working the desk really know? Just show her your student records or something and call it a day. Even if she catches on, you can always just act confused—like, "Oh, I was just told to bring my ID to get the discount."😍👍

My ID card hasn't even worked at the local pharmacy for the last year and a half. Last year, I went to buy tickets and the guy just glanced at my ID and nothing happened. The year before that, some lady wouldn't accept my transcript because my student ID number wasn't printed directly on it—apparently, for those on the newer credit system, it's supposed to be there—so when I finally handed over my ID, she had to go find a way to manually log the number.

I really don't get what they're actually looking for. I have full-time student status, so I'm getting my discount regardless of whether my ID works or whatever nonsense they think they're doing.😁

Honestly, I think it’s just pure incompetence from the people working at the T-Mobile stores, or maybe they just aren't briefed properly. When the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival first started offering those discounts, there was this massive chaotic rush during the first year because students who didn't have their transcripts yet—since the registrar was running late—were getting turned away. So then they introduced official letters, then student IDs, then every other bureaucratic hoop you can imagine. Look, people, you need to speak up and push back a little bit. Not every clerk behind the counter knows the full policy. Just because you haven't updated your digital profile under the new academic guidelines doesn't mean you've lost your rights, does it? If my experience over the last three years counts for anything... I've been buying tickets every year. The first year, I was late and bought them later; I think there was an SMS discount available, but back then it was a Verizon promotion and I was on T-Mobile, so I missed out. The following year, the best deal was using the transcript; I gathered three copies of my transcript, went in, and bought tickets for three people. The woman clerk just wrote down our social security numbers from the transcripts, or maybe it was just our names. Last year, if I remember correctly, the best discount was through the SMS code. I showed up with two different phones and bought a couple of tickets; I can't quite recall, but I think she just took the phone numbers and canceled the code so they wouldn't send the discount twice.

I don't know... I’ve really put the work in here. I've been listening to this TVOTR stuff and honestly, some tracks hit home while others just feel like complete garbage. Total nonsense. The newer material seems to be stepping up a bit, though. For now, I'm going to stay right in the middle on this one. 😍

Don't even think about it! 🙂

OT — Honestly, I don't think anyone would even notice—if it were me, I’d probably give it a shot.

this would basically be a ten-year dream coming true!!!

Arcade Fire and TV on the Radio are easily my two favorite indie bands right now... honestly, if Underworld showed up too, I wouldn't need anyone else.🙂

I suppose I should probably mention that I haven't quite decided how I feel about the whole situation yet, though I suspect I’ll eventually settle on a rather firm opinion once the dust settles, if that makes any sense. It seems like everyone is rushing to judgment, which, in my experience, is usually a recipe for missing the nuance entirely. I mean, I guess you could argue that certain perspectives are more valid than others, but then again, maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. It feels as though we're all just drifting through these various arguments without much of a compass, which is quite exhausting, really. Anyway, I'm still processing things, so please bear with me while I attempt to untangle this mess in my own head. kaže:
If this has already been posted, please just disregard me, but if not: I was just scrolling through some old digital relics when I stumbled upon this MySpace page for TV on the Radio, and honestly, it’s a bit of a trip down memory lane, isn't it? It feels like ages ago, though I suppose it’s only been a little while, depending on how you measure time, I guess. There's something strangely nostalgic about those old layouts—so much clutter, yet so much soul. It really makes you wonder where all that early internet energy went, maybe settling into the more polished, sterile corners of the web we inhabit now. Anyway, if you're feeling particularly sentimental or just want to see what the vibe was like back then, here's the link.

So, I was just browsing through the event listings, and it looks like they've scheduled everything for June 22nd right here in New York City. I guess that’s the word on the street, anyway.👍

Good grief, honestly! 👋👋👋

I honestly don't even want to let my mind wander toward the question of whether we'll ever see Portishead or Beirut perform again... I mean, I really shouldn't even go there, because thinking about it just feels like a recipe for unnecessary heartache, I suppose.

Arthur Anderson75 said:I mean, if you ask me, it seems pretty much a foregone conclusion that they’re actually going to show up.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by "gbest." Could you please provide more context or clarify your request? kaže:
Anyway, putting the X factor stuff aside for a moment—let’s talk about indices and all that. Has anyone actually pulled the trigger on a ticket using that student discount yet? I’m curious if there are any specific markings or details on the pass itself. I just want to make sure they aren't going to ask for some official ID or check names at the gate.

Nancy Gomez4 said:Has anyone actually pulled the trigger on buying a ticket through X yet?

I picked mine up today—used my ID and everything—and I noticed there isn't any indication on the receipt at all. It doesn't specify that it was purchased at a discount, which is interesting, because it wasn't noted like that in previous years either.
