Yeah. Honestly, they need to take off the hat, lose to the Patriots, and then get absolutely torpedoed 3-0 at home. And this is how it ends... ! ๐Ÿ‘

It feels like 1999 was just yesterday, doesn't it? But somehow, eleven years have slipped by already. Looking at this photo from San Francisco today, nothing even comes close to how things used to be... Such a shame...

I was actually at this match, hanging out with about fifteen of the guys from the local crew...
If my memory serves me rightโ€”and please, feel free to set me straight if Iโ€™m misremembering the timelineโ€”it wasn't just a sudden burst of energy at the very end. We were really starting to find our rhythm and get loud somewhere around the middle of the second half.

Sean Brooks said:The essence of the modern American ultra or casual fan is perfectly encapsulated here... and frankly, it is these very types who have contributed most to the sheer density of fans scattered across every stadium in the US (with the exception of the Wildcats today, who seem to possess a genuine sense of purpose and the least amount of internal fracturing, keeping the club as their primary focus). Perhaps one day, when the core of our supporter culture is led by individuals like ----RI----- or when the perspectives of such "sane" figures are actually respected, thenโ€”and only thenโ€”might we see a true expansion and unification of your West Stand, our North Stand, the Tornadoes' southeast corner, or whatever other group exists.

The fundamental issue plaguing our supporter sectionsโ€”aside from the aforementioned imitation within the Wildcatsโ€”is that for almost everyone, the club isn't actually the priority. The late legend would have surely remarked, "all those pretending to be fans are nothing more than cowards" (and honestly, I don't think anyone ever uttered a more profound truth, regardless of how much he was stepped on by the establishment)... I can scream my lungs out, leap over the railings, curse the players to their faces, but what does any of it truly signify if, at my core, I simply couldn't care less about the club? If I am merely there to plant my flag, fix it when the wind catches it, offer a menacing glare from beneath a Fred Perry jacket, attempt to organize a little confrontation, and, of course, take a frantic selfie on the fence before doing anything else...

Naturally, one must also address the systemic corruption rotting through the MLS and the USSF to ensure the league is built upon sound, professional foundations...

Solid post ๐Ÿ‘ Regarding your point about that legendary quoteโ€”you've hit the nail on the head, though it's worth noting that right before he said that, he had been acting the part of a devoted fan himself... which made the whole thing feel somewhat contradictory, didn't it? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Itโ€™s basically our last standโ€”except what we're facing is just some zero-level opponent ๐Ÿ˜

If my memory serves me right, the energy wasn't just a late surge; they were really pushing from midway through the second half, (feel free to correct me if I've got that wrong)

Yeah, thatโ€™s pretty much how it went. Unfortunately, I can't see usโ€”or anyone else for that matterโ€”recreating that kind of atmosphere anytime soon...

Aside from this game, Iโ€™ve gotta bring up that Rijeka-Dinamo match back at the start of the decade. Man, for the entire second half and then even 45 minutes after the final whistle, the West Stand just wouldn't shut up, singing "RIJEKA, YOU ARE MY MOST BEAUTIFUL" non-stop. It was right alongside this current version of the squad... ๐Ÿ˜ I think it might have been during that game where we put up that massive choreo that said "YOU CAN'T BUY THIS SUNSHINE!"โ€”honestly, I can't quite place when exactly that was...

So, your 17th birthday happens to fall right on the day of the Hajduk - Rijeka match, and you still have the nerve to post "When I grow up, I'll be a Wildcat! Armada (17)"?๐Ÿ˜‰>

I'm pretty sure this choreo was for the Cup, but that match you're talking about, the one with the "Rijeka, you are my most beautiful girl" song... if I recall correctly, that was a league game.
And if my memory serves me right, I think that was during that time when the cops were parading the protesters through the streets during that whole trip out to the suburbs...๐Ÿคฃ

Everyone seems to love that damn suburb, just a bunch of mindless ultras obsessed with some random outskirts... ๐Ÿ™‚

Aaron Rogers2 said:The real crowd was always here; there just aren't many of us left. Youโ€™ve got the two original founders and maybe five or six others who actually stay active. Everyone else either moved away from the city, got banned, or somehow transitioned into being punks. Honestly, the absolute worst part is that some of them actually became sensible adults, which is truly the most tragic outcome of all.๐Ÿ˜

They were really the only ones we ever gave any credit to.๐Ÿ˜

Happy birthday to everyone in the Armada! I suppose one can only hope that Rijeka manages to climb at least one more rung on the ladder next season..
