Guys, I am seriously over the moon right now... So, I swung by this local bakery this morning—the one where I’ll probably end up ordering my cake—and was chatting with the owner about what we could do with a hazelnut and white chocolate combo (I totally pushed for that... honestly, I'm just still mourning the fact that they stopped making those amazing white chocolate and hazelnut bars from White Castle🙏). She was a little hesitant about using white chocolate in the frosting, though, because she thinks it can taste a bit oily or cheap... but then she hit me with this genius idea! She suggested adding a thin layer of white chocolate over the sponge before the cream goes on, so you get that perfect mix of creamy and crunchy... I am absolutely obsessed with that idea, so I had to share... 👍 Plus, she was sweet enough to offer to whip up a few different versions of the dessert so I can taste them all and figure out if that's actually the vibe I want before we commit to the final recipe! I'm just feeling so good about this whole thing...😍

I'm so happy to see you're getting ahead of me with those plans! We're just taking a little breather right now.

We’ve finally hit a bit of a lull with the wedding stuff too, though there's always *something* popping up, isn't there?🙂 Right now, we're mostly focused on our future place...
The big win is that I found an aunt who’s basically volunteering to bake all my cookies. Once I get this cake situation sorted out exactly how I want it, I’ll be pretty much set with the major milestones... Ugh, don't even get me started on the invitations... we can tackle that headache another time😍
So, what kind of cake are you thinking about doing?

Some cheesy "newlyweds" theme for the cake

The cake was made by M&M Bakery out of Rudes... and they were absolutely fantastic...

We ordered four cakes total. We had one massive centerpiece for the crowd of 100 people to slice through, plus three additional cakes sitting out on the dessert table alongside a big basket of fresh fruit...

With 220 guests in attendance, we definitely had plenty of cake to go around...

Personally, I didn't want to go with those tiered cakes where every layer is a different flavor; if you do that, half your guests end up missing out on the specific flavor they actually like. Instead, I handled the slicing and serving for the main cake myself, while the other three were just available for guests to grab whenever they wanted throughout the entire evening...

The total cost for all four cakes was $900...

As for the pastries, we sourced those from Absum in Columbus (formerly Bond Pro), and they truly blew me away... they put together about 20 different varieties, and honestly, every single one was better than the last. The pricing was unbeatable ($18/kg), and that includes their delivery right to the hotel ($67) as well as their professional packaging and cellophane wrapping...

Kudos to them...👍

Please move this second one with the butterflies over to the butterfly thread. I already posted the first one myself... but this second shot is just too adorable to pass up.

😲😲😲😲 Excuse me??? I was literally at Vincennes yesterday because I wanted to ask about that exact cake, and they told me it was $1067!!!

hm... I'm not so sure about this...🤷
I was over at the local farmers market in Vincennes—you know, the one near the old square—and this lady there actually told me $833 🙂

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can order a croquant cake here in New York City? Looking for something that won't break the bank. In San Francisco, they go up to $167, but I need enough to cover about 5 to 7 tiers. Please help a girl out!

I honestly have no clue where you can find decent brittle here in New York City! I actually have a close friend who’s going to bring some straight from San Francisco just for us! 😁
I'm a local through and through here in NYC, but my fiancé has those West Coast roots, and since half of our wedding guests are coming from out that way, I thought this would be such a wonderful surprise! At least, that's the plan, anyway! A

Does anyone know if there's actually a Vincek around the downtown farmer's market? I've never heard of one being in this area.

Yeah, but honestly, it’s tiny—I mean, there isn't even enough room for actual seating, just some cramped little patio area... 😉

Oh, come on, where exactly? It’s practically right in my backyard, yet somehow I had absolutely no idea...

Do you have any idea where those guys selling the gyro wraps are located? It’s just a matter of heading down that street... past all the local bars and that Vincek's place, and right near those little old ladies with their flower stands 😁

Well, honestly... just have her reach out to her aunt for a wedding cake portfolio or something similar, and she'll get all the details she needs 😉
