Keith Vaughn, I’m really digging your stuff. Seriously—how much did that set you back? And where'd you pick it up?

A cake from Šešet Varaždin bakery ($387 delivery from $13 is already included). This one needs to feed 150 guests.

My sister ordered this chocolate fountain cake from a little spot called sweet secret over in Upper Stupnik from Stephanie Horvat. It’s decked out with fresh roses—the whole bottom layer was Black Forest, and the top two were walnut and chocolate.

Yeah, they polished it off completely. Honestly, there were quite a few of us constantly hunting down seconds throughout the night! 🙂

The wedding had about 130 people in attendance.

Ugh, honestly... two of those wouldn't even scratch the surface for me! I’m looking at a mountain of about 400 cookies over here—it's going to be a massive baking marathon! And between you and me? I might have already placed a little secret order of my own just to keep my sanity!

Keith Vaughn said:I actually had this exact cake once (it was two layers of fruit and two layers of chocolate). It looks a bit pale and washed out in the photo, but those satin ribbons and brooches really make it pop. 🙂

Man, that bass sounds absolutely killer! Where on earth did you pick that up??

That cake is way too small for a crowd of 400. We used ours more for decor than anything, so it didn't actually go far.

But 400 guests? That’s going to be one hell of a party. Send over some photos after the wedding!

I'm positive it’s going to be a blast, and you can bet there will be plenty of photos to go around! 🤣

rustyridge32 said:What was your per-person serving size? I’m getting conflicting advice ranging from 3.5 to 9 ounces.

I planned for 170 guests, and the caterer told me 37 pounds of sweets was plenty since we weren't doing individual servings. Ridiculous. I ended up ordering an extra 7 pounds... just pure nonsense.
In the end, we still had an entire box left over—probably about 9 pounds total. Honestly, 3.5 ounces per person is more than enough. For us, it was 😁

We picked up some pastries from the Grotta bakery over in Jastrebarsko.
I can't recall if the cake for 170 guests was $1,800 or $567, but we ended up with 80kg of sweets. We actually only paid for 70 because we locked in the deal way ahead of time...

I really wanted to give a quick shout-out to The Little Bakery for the incredible treats and cake they made for us. Their pricing is actually fair—they aren't those types of places that try to upsell you on extra portions just to pad the bill, which I so appreciate. They were incredibly professional yet super flexible, too. And the food? Honestly, everything was finger-licking good. About a week before the wedding, I had a sudden change of heart and decided I wanted enough extra sweets for guests to take home... so I basically needed double the original order! They handled the whole thing without any complaints or trying to hit me with ridiculous surcharges (just the standard price for the extra items, of course). They even have these lovely little paper pastry boxes, and since they handle their own delivery straight to the venue, we didn't have a single thing to worry about. Well, except for me, I suppose... I definitely put on a couple of pounds just from sneaking bites of that delicious cake and dessert all week! I don't have any photos uploaded online just yet, but I'll be sure to post a shot of the cake as soon as I can. 😉

Just one quick question for anyone in the know—does anyone actually know where I can get my hands on a fake cake? I’m talking about the kind of prank where the waiter carries out this dummy cake, trips, and sends it crashing to the floor... only for them to come back a few minutes later with the actual dessert, haha... I don't even know how else to put it 😁

I am right there with you! I’d love to pull a prank like that on my maid of honor! 😁

Dana Gomez89, honestly, I think that cake should be made out of "fake" materials... you know, like styrofoam or plastic or whatever else they use... 🤔

Couldn't you just, I don't know, stack a few layers of sponge cake and some thicker frosting together to make it work?

I’ve been browsing through all sorts of stuff lately—honestly, I feel like I've seen everything under the sun—and they have just about every design imaginable, but none of them are actually for sale... They just have these few Styrofoam models sitting there that look incredibly realistic, almost too real, but it’s such a massive letdown that you can't actually buy them 😢

Glad to hear it. I placed an order with them too, so we'll see. Communication has been solid so far, and I've tried a few cookies—they were good. 🙂

The restaurant is throwing in a cake for free, but we’re on our own when it comes to the dessert spread. It’s a bit of a headache for me because I’m honestly not a big sweets person—it’s all pretty much the same to me—and my husband feels the exact same way. We’ve tried a few different options so far, but as I mentioned, nothing really hit the mark. A couple of days ago, while driving back from the coast, we made a quick stop at a Procter & Gamble near Annapolis to pick up two pounds of wedding cookies just to test them out. I have to say, we were genuinely surprised. These things are incredible. Moist, creamy, just perfect. And that was only $18 pound! Like I said—a very pleasant surprise.🙏
