I’m planning on ordering about 22 pounds for a group of 50 people... plus maybe another 11 pounds just so there's plenty to hand out when everyone heads home...

I’m planning on ordering about 24 pounds for a group of 35 people, which accounts for everyone getting a portion to take home, plus a little extra for the house. That works out to roughly 10 ounces per person.

thanks 🙂

Figured I'd jump in and share my own experience with bakery treats too... Tried the stuff at Orient, they're decent, but they don't really do those bite-sized finger foods for weddings. Stopped by Casner once, but didn't grab any minis to taste because they only sell them by the pound ($30, and they say if it's for a wedding it's $27/lb). But seeing how much you guys are raving about their little bites might make me change my mind. 🙂 I picked up a Jaffa cake and a few other things there just to try them out, and honestly? A bit disappointed. The sponge was super airy, almost like that mass-produced industrial stuff, not that homemade feel. Maybe their mini pastries are better since you all seem so obsessed...
Tried some sweets from Emma, they were tasty—I think it was $33/lb—and the cakes I sampled were good too. Wedding pricing is basically the price per slice times the guest count, though the lady there mentioned you can negotiate with the owner...
Sugar Land... my absolute favorite is their four-chocolate cake (ordered it for a christening before and everyone loved it) and the raspberry parfait. Their bite-sized treats are also really delicious and high quality (especially the one with cherries and chocolate cream). Only thing is, they weren't all cut perfectly even, which doesn't bother me normally, but for a wedding, they really should look uniform. Grabbed a raspberry parfait cake for a birthday this weekend, but I have to say, it felt different than the one I tried before... like they skimped on the raspberry layer and added more sponge... I'll double check, but I hope I'm wrong because Sugar Land is definitely on my shortlist.

those little cookies were absolutely divine😍

Also, does anyone happen to know where the hearty spot is located?
It is one $33. Their website states it clearly.
We have reached several conclusions 😁 regarding the fact that the cake will be sourced from a bakery, and we intend to give the local shop in Majetić one final chance since the mothers were unimpressed; if they fail to deliver, we will either pivot to Sugar Land or perhaps hire two women from the neighborhood who bake at home, depending entirely on the cost.

Jacob White37, are you absolutely certain that those little treats actually count as wedding cake decorations? I’ve always heard they weren't quite up to that standard... 🤷

Ladies, I see you're considering using Majetić... I might actually be able to find out firsthand how they prepare everything, since my neighbor used to work there...

It matters little to me either way; I couldn't care less about the distinction. 😉
David Howard9, if you happen to find anything out, do let me know—a private message is fine. 🙂

My friends ended up taking one small, perfectly decorated General Mills cake... and they also had three or four other slices from General Mills sitting there on the side that were just being sliced and served... 😉

I intend to slice the cake out on the terrace by candlelight anyway, so the quality of the glaze won't even be visible 😉 personally, I find that specific cake to be the finest of them all (though there is an even better one back in New York 🤣). At a wedding once, I told myself that when I finally marry, that is where the cake will come from. To be fair, they didn't actually slice it there; the waiters simply brought it to the table... but that cherry chocolate one, which is flourless, is absolutely divine.

It’s actually a huge relief to see—it makes me feel so much better knowing I'm not the only total dessert freak out there 🙂

I've been reading this thread for a while now and I'm genuinely confused. Why am I expected to bring desserts with formal documentation instead of just making them at home? Why would a restaurant demand pastries that come from a registered business rather than just being homemade?
😕😕😕😕😕

fran 🙂
Michael Palmer862, they simply need to be registered small businesses, and those two women already are.

It is I once again, reaching out to offer my most sincere recommendation regarding the pastries from Srceks... I attended a wedding this past Saturday, and I must say, their desserts were truly exceptional, possessing that genuine, homemade quality one rarely finds these days. Every single piece was sliced with such precision, but those decorative treats—the little peaches, the tiny hats, the watermelon slices, and the hearts—were simply phenomenal. My niece hosted about 150 guests and ordered 25 kilograms of sweets, which turned out to be the perfect amount, neither excessive nor insufficient... I believe she mentioned the bakery is located somewhere over near Chelsea, but if you are interested, I shall certainly ask her for the exact details

Well, I'm actually trying to track down their exact location and see what kind of pricing we're looking at for the cakes.☕

Just put a deposit down on them today! The price is $25.
They're located over in Brooklyn, at 72 Queens St. I'll DM you the phone number

So, I was chatting with an auntie who used to work for Majetć, and she mentioned she wouldn't exactly swear by their pastries...
She claims they mostly use store-bought creams, and even the sponge cakes are just mass-produced batches that they dye to look different...
Basically, they aren't anything like what you'd get from a real homemade recipe...
Anyway, I hope that helps anyone wondering!
