Btw, I didn't see anything mentioned about needing an appointment for a hearty meal, and man, I showed up last week only to find the doors locked tight. 🙄 Now I have to give them a call just to try and schedule something...

cookies are $27/lb, and cakes are $3.25 per slice if they have whipped cream on top, and $4.00 per slice if it's just plain. Same thing, call ahead for the cookies. If you're looking for those homemade-style cookies where every single one tastes exactly how it's supposed to, then they are definitely your best bet. I'm a total sweet tooth myself—I eat them and bake them too! The price is awesome because they're only $40/lb at Piece of cake, whereas at MM it's $37/lb, and this place is a little pricey. It's classic, honestly, once something gets popular they just hike up the prices!
You can't really sample their cakes there since they don't operate like a traditional bakery and don't have a storefront, but you can try their chocolate cakes over at the Hershey's chocolate bar or whatever it's called, at 15 Fifth Avenue (from the square towards Gundulić, on the left side, you can't miss it). They're sitting in a glass display case right in the middle, on the left side. You'll see for yourself that the labels say The Londoner, sljez 24, which is the Charlotte small house. There, they cost $5.00 per slice. I was there on Saturday and grabbed two slices of everything, and oh my god, I seriously can't decide which one was better!!

Check out one of her cakes—bottom layer is Black Forest, while the top two are walnut and parfait, custom-made. And yeah, those flowers on top are actually fresh.

Girls, please don't be mad at me, but these kinds of cakes are just... well, a nightmare for my eyes... all those little tiers, then the fountains, then rings, then sprayers... it's just such a lot going on at once... 🤷
It really feels like way too much for me... 😕
What is even the point of all that?!?!?

It seems pointless that they don't make the cakes themselves, as it makes choosing based solely on those two options 🤷 somewhat illogical. Still, they are remarkably inexpensive, so I will certainly head over to Rockefeller to try them, and we shall see...

feralmoose32 The assertion remains unchanged.
Ladies, don't take this the wrong way, but I find these kinds of cakes to be utterly exhausting. Between the structural pillars, the fountains, the rings, and those sprayers, there is simply far too much going on. 🤷
It has truly become quite overwhelming. 😕
What is the point of any of this?
I once attended a wedding where they featured a cake like that—a literal fountain with water leaking everywhere. As someone who values simplicity, I found the whole display utterly grotesque. One has to wonder what people actually pay for such gaudy excess.

I honestly haven't the slightest clue... though it’s likely just as basic as our own little 🤷

Honestly, I’ve never been one for all that over-the-top, flashy stuff... 😢 I much prefer things when they're kept simple. To my mind, less is always more. 🙂

That hasn't happened to me personally, as their official business hours are from 7 to 3, though there is a doorbell on the side where someone will kindly open the door for you regardless of the hour...

Honestly, just find a picture online, print it out, and show them exactly what you want... I did the whole thing myself...$133....three different flavors, marzipan glaze... plenty for 40 people... if anyone needs a recommendation, check out that bakery in Des Moines... anyway, I really hope it turns out that way. I actually made the little bride and groom toppers myself because none of the store-bought ones felt right... we basically DIY'ed everything. Here, have a laugh at how it turned out

Hey, so I checked out Hearty and honestly? Not impressed. They get way too much hype on this forum. In the end, I just decided to grab some treats from Cashner's instead. You should definitely give them a shot if you're feeling it, then let me know what you think. Since their shop is right there at the intersection in Dubac👍.

Could you please elaborate on what specifically missed the mark for you? We actually headed over this past Saturday to check out those much-vaunted pastries ourselves, only to find the doors firmly shut (their hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM 😕). I had gone in expecting a traditional bakery where we could pick up a few cakes and treats for the house, so the disappointment was quite palpable. I'm left wondering—do they operate strictly by appointment, or is it something else entirely? 🤷

I haven't actually heard anyone express dissatisfaction with them yet, as everyone seems to praise them; the pastries feel genuinely homemade, with each one possessing its own unique appearance, color, and most importantly, flavor. On the other hand, Cashner is widely known for using those industrial creams—you can tell by the Canadian pastry, which has a cream so dark and tough it's almost unpalatable. For me, Hearty is simply wonderful, and they saved me so much trouble after I spent months searching for an authentic, homemade dessert, which I know is something we all value deeply...😉

Hey everyone!!!😁

So, I was just wondering if anyone here happens to be living in Split and might know where a person can track down some really good homemade cookies??
Thanks a bunch in advance 🙏

Fifteen posts on this specific thread alone, and it's nothing but praise for Hearty while they tear everyone else apart!!!! 😕😕🤷🤷

It is simply not true that I am disparaging others, though I am merely sharing my own firsthand experience, as I once worked in one of those aforementioned bakeries and I know exactly what genuine homemade desserts look like compared to how the rest are actually prepared... ultimately, the choice belongs to you, and while everyone seems to crave that "homemade" label, it often isn't quite what it appears to be; having worked at a place like Whole Foods in a busy area, I have seen exactly what gets passed off as being made from scratch when they deliver for weddings
