Drew Foster11 said:p.s. I was actually thinking about getting everything done at a local bakery, so if anyone has any thoughts on those...

I actually used that little bakery once😍...😍...

I was pretty happy with them—can shoot you the details via DM if you want... but honestly, you probably won't mess this up.
this was my wedding cake:

Mischa... ugh, moms, right? Mine’s already on my case—like, "what kind of wedding is it even if nobody's wearing a suit?"🤣
And don't even get me started on the cake. If you asked my mom, she’d probably order enough to feed an army—like 90 pounds for a hundred people or something.🙄

Camellia... that looks like a gorgeous cake.

Fear, one of my friends was actually super happy with them.

We finally tracked down Lucian’s bakery over in San Francisco. Their wedding cake pricing comes out to $20 per pound. They handle all their own deliveries, too—which is a huge plus—and honestly, the sweets are absolutely flawless.

I’m dropping the link here if anyone wants to check them out

Please, don't make the mistake of overordering wedding sweets... We had 190 guests and if my memory serves me right, we ordered about 55 to 65 pounds of pastries for both the house and the venue, and we still ended up with a plate or two left over at home... Don't go overboard and just throw money away on it.

Sean Long4 said:I’m currently torn between getting pastries from Sweet Secret in Sugar Land or picking something up from Emma over in Columbus...

I’ve been crunching the numbers on how much dessert I actually need... since I don’t plan on sharing, I was thinking about putting two decent-sized pastries on every single table in the hall (which works out to about 4.5 pounds). That would mean ordering roughly 120 pounds of sweets total... and honestly, just thinking about it is already making me feel a bit overwhelmed.

Honestly, I think you're overkilling it, especially if you aren't planning on playing nice and sharing with anyone—plus, look at your guest list.
I'd say one 12x8 inch platter should be plenty; you can fit about 2 or 2.5 pounds on there. I don't even know how many people you're seating per table🤷but usually, a tray that size is enough for a group of 8 to 10 people.

At the hotel, they actually suggested putting two on each table...

Dear ladies of the forum—I am searching for inspiration and perhaps a contact for a rather unique, slightly unconventional, yet delicious cake... no crunchy bits, no heavy creams, and absolutely no butter... just fresh fruit, chocolate, and some creative decorations... I haven't come across anything quite like this in this thread yet—if I have somehow missed it, please do correct me...

I am getting married on August 22nd in Savannah... which means I really need to find someone for the cake in the upper South region...

Does anyone have any ideas... and where might I find those little wedding toppers—you know, the bride and groom figures—to put on top?
thanks everyone

p.s. I am not looking for private messages from any freelance musicians or opera divas... thank you

Check out the wedding cakes and desserts thread—there’s a bunch of stuff written there already... plus, maybe someone else will actually have some useful advice for you too.

You really don't need to start a whole new thread for every single little question—honestly, most things have already been covered in previous discussions, you just have to dig around a bit... 😉

My wedding is going to have about 120 to 150 guests, and I don't think I'll be doing individual dessert servings... I'm just planning to order 25kg at $18/kg 🙂
seems reasonable enough, right?

Are you actually planning on ordering those cakes?

So, my cousin threw this massive bash with about 150 people on the guest list, and they ended up hauling in 90 pounds of dessert. They left 20 pounds sitting right out front and took 60 pounds straight to the banquet hall... though, honestly, they just served it out however they felt like at the time. I’m looking at a crowd of maybe 110 people for my thing, so I’m thinking 65 pounds should be more than enough to cover us.🤷

There’s this young guy who makes amazing baked goods. I’ve been buying everything sweet from him for years whenever there's an occasion. It's always just been his home business until now, but he's working on all the legal paperwork to open his own shop later this year. So, it's definitely legit.😍
Still haven't decided on a name for the company. Any ideas?🤷
It's about the west side of Washington, D.C.
And the price is amazing...

Where can I actually go to try those pastries? I’m living on the west side of town myself... and honestly, that price point looks incredible.

Drew Foster11, man, if you're feeding 110 people, 20kg of stuff is basically nothing—barely enough to cover the basics... though I guess if you've got even more stashed at your place before hitting the wedding, you might actually stand a chance...
jadestag11, honestly, that price sounds like a steal... but won't he jack it up once his small business officially kicks off? I’d love to grab some of those treats, even though I already placed my wedding order... maybe I'll pick some up for other occasions later on.

I’m definitely tempted to check them out. I'd just love to hear some real feedback first—how are their wedding desserts actually? Is the service reliable?

Oh man... I just saw the price for $18....$22/lb,
and for diabetics it's $23/lb

Sean Long4 and Donna Chase12 can DM me the number this afternoon (I have it written down at home).
Not sure if they’ll hike up the prices🤷... hmm... yeah... now that I think about it, it's possible🙄... my bad
I can try them once they're ordered🤷... that's my style, they're great for me👍
Sorry again for the wrong figure😉

It’s definitely more affordable than what you see elsewhere... but just like Zvrki mentioned, there's always that chance he'll hike up the prices once the business gets established.

And look... honestly, that number is even cheaper than everything else we've seen so far... just shoot me the figure so I can get it saved somewhere...
