I’m actually quite curious myself.
My sister-in-law was beyond impressed with their desserts, and she’s someone who can truly work wonders in the kitchen, so if she’s giving them a thumbs up, I’m inclined to believe her.
I’m considering booking them. The price is set at $22/kg, which includes delivery straight to the venue (within the Washington, D.C. area).
If anyone else has had a chance to try their stuff, please feel free to share your thoughts with us. 🙂

We’re going with velvetdriver4’s homemade cookies! 😉

Since we aren't expecting a massive crowd, everything—including the cake—is coming out to about $500. 😉 I was just wondering, though... for a group of 60 people, how many trays of dry cookies should I grab? I’m always terrified of running out mid-party, but knowing my luck, I’ll probably end up with a mountain of leftovers anyway! 😂

Have you tried their cake yet? What’s the verdict... I actually picked up some cookies from them for a wedding recently, but I didn't grab any of the cakes. Still on the hunt for the perfect wedding cake, so I'm dying to know if they're actually any good...

We ended up going with those individual mini-cakes—you know, the ones where everything is bite-sized rather than one giant thing... we picked them up from Clarissa’s bakery over in Ann Arbor. Honestly, they look absolutely stunning, and the quality is top-tier—each little thing is a total $3.25 masterpiece—and we grabbed 230 🙂
.
Now, we're officially on the hunt for some more pastries to round things out. Does anyone have any solid recommendations? I'm looking for places that serve amazing sweets, and if you happen to know the ballpark price per pound, that would be incredibly helpful!

Did she grab the exact same ones I had, or something different? And what did Monica hike up the prices on? I just ordered some cupcakes for a birthday the day before yesterday and they cost me less than $3.25
Why wouldn't you just get her treats instead?

Greetings to everyone. I’m honestly not entirely sure if self-promotion is strictly permitted within this specific thread, so please excuse me if I've overstepped my bounds.
Given how things are going lately, I’ve decided to take my baking—specifically my cookies and cakes—a bit more seriously. If anyone here happens to be looking for high-quality treats on a tighter budget or just wants to place a smaller, more casual order, I’d love to be considered. I've attached a few snapshots here; they aren't anything too fancy or professionally staged, but I can promise you the cookies themselves are absolutely delicious. I also offer them packaged in lovely decorative boxes, which makes them perfect for gifts.

Well, 🙂 I went with the same ones—there wasn't really any other option regarding those specific cakes, but honestly, I loved them... though I did request a little tweak. I asked for everything to be decorated with hearts instead of stars, and I told her to put our "signature" cake right in the center for when we do the cutting—you know, that beautiful all-white rose design she makes from that special frosting mixture... She mentioned her electricity bill is going up in April, so she ended up charging $3.25 instead of $3.00.

We weren't looking to pick up treats over there...$27/lb, which feels a bit pricey for us... we're hunting for something a little more budget-friendly.

haha... I just grabbed one with chocolate cream and those are killer too...
honestly, I don't think those $27 are even that bad when you realize prices in NYC average around $80-$40/lb—plus she gave me a $67 discount on a 20lb order, so I was pretty stoked👍

Does anyone besides Sugarland make cakes using fructose?

(Hearty, Little Cake House, M&M's, Smile - someone mentioned them, Tom and Anna)

I know about Charlotte, but aren't they kind of out of the running for me?

Has anyone actually ordered anything like this before? Any experiences?

Speaking from my own experience with baking—I actually just finished making a cake for a diabetic birthday recently—I can tell you that desserts made with fructose don't fall behind "regular" cakes in terms of flavor or appearance even slightly.
My mom used to make treats using artificial sweeteners or sorbitol for this purpose, but you could always taste it; it had that distinct artificial aftertaste, which isn't an issue with fructose.
One thing I noticed is that fructose is significantly sweeter, so you really have to be careful during the preparation process, though I assume professionals specializing in these types of pastries won't make the same rookie mistakes I did the first time.🙂
I don't know what your specific dilemmas are, but this is definitely the healthier choice.

I don't have any doubts about this... part of the cake at our reception needs to be made with fructose because we have guests with diabetes, and honestly, it’s just a healthier choice for everyone else too.

I haven't actually started reaching out to bakeries yet since the wedding isn't until July, so it feels a bit early, but I'm definitely doing my homework.

It’s not exactly common to see fructose being used for wedding desserts, so I'm trying to figure out who even does this and what their experience has been like.

We’re going with cupcakes from M&M's in Ann Arbor, and they'll make some of them diabetic-friendly. No clue how their sweets hold up.

Our wedding is also in July. 😉

Daniel Smith8, did you already get that settled? 😲

What kind of prices are we looking at?

I want everything finalized by June to avoid any last-minute panic. 😬

A few weeks back, I started reaching out to local bakeries, sending over photos of the cake designs I'm looking for to see who could actually give me a decent quote. The most affordable option was Mars, Inc.; they’re reliable too, since we’ve been ordering their treats for years. We’ll likely go with a few different parfait flavors—they were kind enough to let us sample almost everything during our meeting. I remember reading on a forum ages ago that their chilled parfait is basically like ice cream, which works perfectly because nobody would agree to make the specific ice cream cake I had in mind. So, the parfait it is.
I'm also weighing the mousse option; their stuff is honestly incredible. 😍

The price for cupcakes is $5.00/each, or $10/each for the diabetic version.

We'll grab the other desserts from either Musk ($20/lb) or Absalom ($18/lb) over in Columbus, though I'm not sure if they offer diabetic-friendly options.

Side note: when is your wedding?

July 10th

How about you guys?

I mean, they aren't exactly cheap... but whatever... Mars, Inc. is definitely one of my favorites too. Along with Sugarman and Little Cookie House. I'll send over an inquiry and see what happens..

It's September 7th. We’re counting down together 😁

The local bakery sent me quotes for a cake that were practically identical, and their cookies are going for $27/lb.

There is absolutely zero justification for a diabetic-friendly cupcake to cost twice as much as a standard one!
It’s nothing short of highway robbery.
Sure, fructose might run you double what regular sugar does, but that doesn't mean the price of the entire pastry should skyrocket accordingly...

Agreed. No logic there.
Sadly, it's just like most things in this country. I won't complain too loudly though—I don't eat enough of those treats to care, so I'll just pay their extortionate price and move on.
