Hey, does anyone happen to know if M&M's is still making those treats for Lido?

I'm honestly torn on whether I should just order a cake and some sweets from Caramel, Lida, or Millennium... or maybe go straight to M&M's. The stuff on the Lido website looks super tasty, but if M&M's is actually the one behind them, I might as well just order directly from the source, right? So, please, does anyone have the scoop?

Or, if you can't answer that, maybe just help me decide with a recommendation... I'd be so incredibly happy with any advice.🙂

Daniel Smith8 said:Absalom is alright, honestly. Prices are cheap. Personally, I prefer the ones at the Two-toothed mouse near the Riverbank (about 20 miles outside of Columbus). I mentioned the prices in a previous post.

Your options depend entirely on your budget. In Washington, D.C., you're looking at anything from $75 up to $40...

Someone on here mentioned that Absom bakes specifically for Bill, and that all their cookies taste basically the same—now I'm stuck in a massive dilemma because they fit my budget perfectly ($18/lb) .... 😢
Even Mus has some haters out there... 😢

Unfortunately, you can always find someone willing to complain about anything—no matter who they are or how much it actually costs

If the specific flavor of the pastries isn't your main concern and the price works for you—especially since you're catering to a big group—then just go for it! You can just brush off whatever negative comments a few people might throw your way; most others won't even notice 😉

At the end of the day, just think about it—every price point comes with its own set of trade-offs 😉

God, if I actually believed everything posted on these forums... 😬
If I were you, I wouldn't sweat it. If the price makes them tempting, why not just head over there and grab a sample? If they hit the spot, buy them. If they don't, move on.

My godmother used Mus for her wedding catering, and honestly, nobody had anything bad to say. Besides, we see people talking about Emma here too—she's one of the most famous pastry chefs in Washington, D.C., at least when it comes to weddings. It’s subjective. Some love them, some don't.

Look, like those girls were telling you, just head over to Bill's or swing by their shop and grab a sample. If you dig them—go for it. If not? Just pick something else 😉at least you'll know for sure you made the right call

That's just the truth. I remember being at this wedding expo once and trying some pastries from a Lido tent, and I bit into something so sour it felt like it was borderline spoiled—though I suppose someone else might actually enjoy that flavor profile.🤷

Everyone has different tastes.
Yesterday, a friend and her husband stopped by to try my cake: he absolutely hated it, and she just isn't a fan of sweet cream cheese. Hehe. I don't really remember the cake from their own wedding at all, but I know the ceremony was 👍👍👍

Is M&M's making cookies for Lido?

Man, that is awesome news. I was seriously torn between choosing M&M's or Lido 😍

I hope Daniel Smith8 won't be mad at me, but I finally tried the treats from both Absom and Mus, and honestly... I wasn't a fan of either one.🤷
Absom feels like a total factory operation—they just use five different creams to make five "different" kinds of pastries. And Mus? Such a letdown. I actually sent my little one there specifically to pick up some sweets, and... man, you could just taste the granulated sugar in so many of them. It was crunchy under your teeth. Plus, none of the pastries were consistent; they all had different heights and widths, and the crusts were falling apart on some of them. 😢
Maybe I’m just being difficult, but seriously, am I crazy for paying $40 per pound 😲 for something that, frankly, isn't even that much better than the stuff you get for $18? Should I be obsessing over every tiny detail (because, let's face it, that's just who I am!), or should I just pay $18 since most people aren't even going to look at the dessert table at a wedding anyway?
I've basically been on a mission to attack every bakery in town looking for the perfect wedding treats, and at this rate, I'm going to gain 100 pounds before the big day!🙂

So, come on—think back to any wedding you've been to. Do you actually remember the desserts being anything special?

What I really want to know is, is it considered weird to ask a bakery if they offer wedding cake tastings? Because when I asked at a local shop here in Washington, D.C., the woman there—who was clearly just counting down the minutes until she could clock out—was incredibly rude. She basically told me that if I wanted to taste them, I should just buy them first.
And get this, one single pastry is $5.00. What am I supposed to do, blow $50 just to sample everything? Why don't they have samples? Or something for the wedding cake? It feels like it's totally against their own business interests, doesn't it?🤷

Everywhere we went to try those cookies, we had to pay up. Nobody gave us free samples—well, except at the state fair.

Of course I'm not angry. Not even slightly. 😉
It’s a shame you didn't like them. A total waste of time for the kid. 😢

I didn't feel any sugar hitting my teeth. Honestly? A relief, considering my allergy. Maybe I just got lucky, but frankly, I don't care. They aren't even half as bad as the expensive ones. $40Per pound. Everything's getting more expensive. Just another day in this country.
At weddings, nobody touches the dessert table anyway. It’s a waste of money. I didn't even think about ordering more than a few pieces. $27 Per pound.

We tossed out those peaches—none of us, not even our friends, could stand them. I cleared out the cookies with the wafers too. Just too basic for my taste. Everything else is fine.

At Mus, they handed us an entire sample plate of cake for free. Just like that. At M&M's, we got a few different parfaits to try since we're planning on ordering a whole cake from them—though I can't tell if they do that for everyone, considering how long we spent browsing their selection.

I remember being over at Sweet Secret once with a friend of mine—she was getting married to her best man—and they ended up giving us some free samples to try. Good times.

urbanowl10, you basically have to buy at least a pound of treats just to "test them out" at any bakery. There’s no such thing as just grabbing a few pieces. Instead, every week or two, I end up hitting up a different shop just to sample everything! 🙂 And honestly, some of these places won't even talk to you unless you pre-order...
Daniel Smith8, maybe I just had terrible luck. I ordered everything right around Easter, so maybe they were just slammed, but the flavor wasn't even the main issue—it's just that I'm really picky about this stuff. I’d kill for the ones from Meli, but I know they aren't going to be under $100$40/lb, and I just can't justify paying double for sweets. I'd much rather get something more affordable and just pass the leftovers around after the wedding...
The more I talk to my friends, the more it seems like the best move is to get the desserts (and everything else!!!) from outside Washington, D.C. Everything is cheaper and actually tastes better because people actually put in the effort. ☕

My whole family has such a massive sweet tooth, so I ended up grabbing a full kilogram every single time. I even stopped by Sweet Secret, $33/lb—their cookies are really tasty, though honestly, they aren't quite worth the extra $33! That said, I’ll probably pick up a cake from Sweet Secret for a friend's bachelorette party; their cakes are seriously incredible!

Man, those pathetic little peaches.😂
Personally, I think they're great. For some weird reason, I actually prefer them when they're harder and more obnoxious—the kind where you feel like they might 😬 fall apart in your mouth. It's just my thing, I guess.😂😂

I have to agree.
It's true, too—like if you go to buy a dress outside of the city, the rental ends up being like 20% cheaper! Total true story. Same dress, same everything.

At Emma, I actually got to sample their treats twice... and when I was picking out flavors for my cake, they gave me a little piece of every single one.

So, when it comes to Emma, I can say they’re absolutely top-tier.

They are.. and look, I know you weren't exactly thrilled with their pastries, but honestly, if I'm being fair, I haven't actually had any issues with them myself.
