Look, there isn't much you can actually do about that... I mean, you can't just decide to put desserts on every other table... you have to provide them for every single table, and if people don't end up eating them, that's hardly your fault.

That’s just how it goes, unfortunately.

It was the same at my place—one large round table, maybe 9 to 11 guests. From my side of the family, they barely touched the desserts, but his relatives from the Midwest absolutely cleared the table. There aren't any real rules, though. Sometimes I won't even touch a single sweet, and then at a wedding or two, I've practically polished off an entire tray by myself. My blood sugar took quite a hit 😁

I know I'm not quite there yet—I'll have to give those cookies some more thought before deciding.

Our desserts were honestly perfect—really delicious—but I guess people were just more preoccupied with the appetizers, the main course, and that lamb dish than they were with the sweets...

Even though, for instance, nearly the entire cake was polished off and everyone had nothing but praise for it.

That’s usually how it goes. I prefer sticking to actual meals myself; maybe a little something sweet here and there, but a slice of cake in the middle of the night is more than enough.

Why does this look so familiar? I must have scrolled past your photos or 🤷. The cake is the giveaway. You must be a pro soccer player, 😉

It’s actually pretty funny—it feels more like something you’d see at a birthday party or even a wedding. And honestly, that’s exactly why I love it. Everyone else just sticks to that same old white-with-floral pattern.

Well, it’s entirely possible you saw the pictures...

As for me and soccer, it's about as likely as a cow performing ballet... my partner is a massive fan of the LA Dodgers, and I’m pretty much right there with him, so we ended up featuring the Dodgers logo right at the top between the bride and groom...

Plus, blue is our favorite color, which explains why we went with this specific cake combo...

For those curious about the flavors, the bottom tier was chocolate raspberry, the middle was cheesecake with mixed berries, and the top was a strawberry yogurt parfait... actually, I might have swapped the middle and top tiers in my head
.
Oh, and since this is just one angle of the shot, you can't see the two large fondant decorations on the other side—one white and one blue... they were made from sugar paste

Honestly, my mouth is watering just reading this. I can't even decide which slice to grab first—I’d probably just take all three. That’s the problem. Usually, at weddings, I won't touch the dessert table, but when someone hits the mark like this, I'm looking for seconds or quietly swiping a portion from someone else (usually my husband). Major props to the baker for this cake selection 👍

So, we’ve got about 45 people coming over and there's basically a mountain of sweets on the table. Instead of one big cake, we went with 48 cupcakes set out on their own little display, plus a cheesecake and a strawberry parfait cake sitting right next to them. Those cakes are classic—we're talking about 16 slices each, and to make it fancy, we tucked a little chocolate and vanilla mousse shot between every single layer. Now, looking through all your feedback, I’m starting to wonder... do I actually even need that parfait cake 🤔?

So, a colleague of mine was at this wedding recently, and apparently, the newlyweds were serving these specific "treats flown in from London"
I had to ask her—like, what even are these?—and then she starts describing them, claiming you can only find them in London

They were macarons, obviously 🙄

😂

If they actually went through the trouble of having them shipped all the way from London... I honestly don't even know what to say about that kind of dedication... 😬

Moira, it might be overkill, but people will definitely eat it 😁
There might be some folks who aren't really into cupcakes and would much rather grab a slice of cake 🤷

Personally, I thought it was awesome when we had this massive three-tier cake for 45 people and everything vanished in an instant... Everyone was scrambling for a second slice—it was practically a feeding frenzy at the dessert table 😍

Honestly, I think you’re spot on here 😉 those cupcakes are perfect—I’d much rather grab a small cookie than tackle a massive slice of cake. If I have a little bite and like it, I can always go back for seconds 🙂
For context, we had this massive three-tier cake at our party—it was completely demolished. On top of that, there was cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory (gone), a chocolate cake (all gone), two types of pastries (mostly gone), and a pink one (half gone)! People were sampling three different kinds of desserts, yet hardly anyone even touched the bite-sized stuff...

Ugh, totally forgot we even have macarons too! 😂
First off, I grabbed 24 cupcakes for home and 24 for the party, but honestly? They’re so good that a few people already told me they’re only showing up for those 😳. So now I'm stuck—I'll just keep the regular cookies and the macarons for myself at home, and take the cupcakes to the party 😵

Anyway, here's that other cake I mentioned 😉

Does anyone happen to know what the current pricing looks like for cakes and pastries over at Monica's bakery? I know someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I’m having a hard time tracking down the post now. Also, does anyone know how much they charge for delivery?

Not sure what the delivery fee is—it depends on where you're at—but their cakes run about $4.00 per slice. Price shifts a bit if you go with marzipan or fancy fondant versus just standard whipped cream. If you're ordering in bulk, say over 20lbs, the pastries drop to roughly $27/lb.
I'd definitely recommend them; honestly, their cakes are incredible.

So, I’ve got a bit of a dilemma on my hands, so if anyone has any thoughts, please help me out...
Basically, everything for the wedding is pretty much sorted, and the only thing left hanging is the dessert situation..
I’m torn between getting some pastries and a cake from an unknown place or just going with Magnolia Bakery for all the sweets?🤷
What do you guys think, where should I pull the trigger?
Price-wise, they’re basically neck and neck, so that’s really not even a factor for me..
