She actually gave us the heads-up a few months back to go ahead and reserve that little cupcake tower...

Yeah, we ended up pulling the trigger on Monica at the last minute. But honestly, you can always just bring your own stand or rent one somewhere else to bring over to her. Still, better to get a reservation in before things get crazy—just like we did 😁

I’ve got another question for the group... those little paper cupcake liners used for the treats... does anyone know if you can actually find them in different colors somewhere? Or maybe some that look a bit more high-end than these basic ones I'm stuck with? Any leads?

It looks like they’re just putting muffins in those little cups—I don't see any actual cupcakes being made here

Try checking eBay... I always order from there since they don't carry much variety here in the States. 😢

They have everything from cupcake holders to little mini tart trays with handles...

Ugh... just remember, Google and the internet are your best friends. 😁

Tried those mini cakes from Vincent's and they're totally worth it $10, honestly could pass them off as something for $8.25—but hey, there's way too much work involved in making them.
Inside, you've got this chocolate cake layered with three biscuits and a killer filling. They’re covered in fondant with a little fondant rose on top and a satin ribbon... all in purple, and man, they look amazing.

Any random cupcake from a local bakery is basically just a dry morning muffin and isn't even worth $1.75. You're better off treating guests to a croissant instead of a muffin.

Jamie Robinson4 said: cupcakes are just muffins. mini cakes are what you had at Vincent's and what most bakeries actually make. they aren't muffins 🙄 I think one specific company makes them—that’s how they got the name—but honestly, I wouldn't serve those to guests when actual mini cakes are such a better choice. $10 It's way too much; you're paying for the brand name rather than the quality. If they just made decent mini cakes and customized the look for the wedding couple, it would be different.

I gave them a try as well, and I have to admit, they're delicious. Though, the turnout for the pastry vendors at the local fair was pretty pathetic, so I don't really have anyone else to compare them to regarding 🤷

So I hit up the wedding expo just to scope out the desserts—and man, those treats at Lido's had me staring—but they were tagged "display only."🤷 Talk about stingy! Since I didn't want to miss out on those fancy macarons from Vincent's or whatever gourmet bites they had over at Anthony's, I ended up leaving totally hungry.

help, I tried scrolling back up through the thread but I just can't be bothered to 😁
Does anyone have any firsthand experience with Absom over in Springfield?
I'm specifically interested in their pastries and how they handle those mirror-glaze decorations.
And what’s the deal with their mousse? Mayo mentioned she actually prefers theirs... I checked out their website, but they don't really show much
How do they go about decorating their cakes?

Pleaseee

So, we decided to grab some cookies from Absolut... picked up a whole pound to share with everyone, and honestly? Most people thought they were killer. Everyone loved them except his old man, though. Look, they aren't bad by any means, but if you’re willing to shell out the same amount—or even just a couple bucks more—you can definitely find something way better out there... 😉

So, a friend of mine just had her wedding three weeks ago, and they served cookies and cake from a bakery in Columbus, Ohio...
The cookies were alright, I guess, though I’ve definitely had better, but man, that cake was incredible...
The sponge was thin and light, not dry at all, and didn't crumble much either; it was a Black Forest style with vanilla and chocolate parfait—just a really light, delicious cake. 👍

We didn't bother with any fancy cake decorations. I just arranged for them to be delivered on trays with lids and set them straight on the tables. Honestly, I hadn't even considered there were other ways to style them. 😬

Besides, if we're talking about that price point and flavor profile, I think those pastries from the bakery in Aspen are pretty much in the same league—people around here seem to rave about them on this thread.

A smile is worth $22 lbs... We’re going to sweep them all up... Their cookies are honestly delicious... 🙂 And don't even get me started on the cakes they whip up... 🙂

I’ve sampled their pastries myself, and honestly, compared to what we usually find here in San Francisco, the flavors are incredible—not to mention how much I love the presentation.
BUT... I was told they deliver to Walmart here in San Francisco on Fridays, and I’m worried that (and it’s almost a certainty) they’ll just grab my Saturday orders at the same time, which would mean
they might be baked as early as Tuesday. I’m genuinely concerned they won't be fresh, or worse, might actually go bad, yet I'd still be expected to pay for$167 shipping to the shop and$100
the custom decorations...
any advice?

I honestly don't know... nowadays, you just can't take anyone at their word, unfortunately. Plus, don't you have anyone you actually know who could hook you up with some decent cookies? Who's even coming in from Washington, D.C.?

My issue is that they use those specific mirrors and trays to decorate the cakes... and if someone were to ship them all the way from Chicago, I wouldn't be able to
rent those trays, and besides, who would even be there to assemble the cakes for me... you know what I mean?

Has anyone here actually had experience with cakes from the Bunčić bakery? Visually speaking, their work looks impeccable, but I find myself questioning the actual substance... quality, if you will. I have a particular aversion to the idea of a cake collapsing mid-slice because it was over-saturated with whipped cream—a common culinary mishap. In my experience, there is nothing quite as disappointing as being served a "mushy" cake at a wedding, and frankly, I’ve encountered far too many such instances 😁 We are currently contemplating sourcing our cake from a different vendor entirely, even though it's already factored into our menu, simply because we are interested in specific pastries that they unfortunately don't offer.
