I was just in Savannah recently and picked up some treats from Golden Grain...
The flavor is honestly hard to put into words... it tasted just like my grandma used to make. I was actually pretty shocked... anyway, just figured I'd share in case anyone's looking...

Does anyone know roughly how much those little mini cake towers cost? And maybe which bakeries around here actually make them?

Has anyone ever ordered Macarons for a wedding?
If you have, where did you get them and what was the damage to your wallet? I'd also love to know if they actually tasted good and were worth the hype.

We went over this a few pages back—posted some photos and thoughts there. It’s all right there.
James Ruiz84, good luck with the hunt. Haven't come across them myself yet.

Fancy Cake over in Savannah makes killer Macarons—they have the prettiest colors, too. They go for $1.75 per piece, but they might give you a deal if you're ordering a bunch.

I was wondering, what are we looking at for dessert prices per pound these days? And if anyone knows, what about whole cakes? Honestly, I’ve been checking the markets, and walnut prices are absolutely sky-high this year because of the poor harvest. So, if any brides-to-be out there have some recent intel... 🙂

Honestly, you’re better off just calling them up and asking. Some bakeries skip the nuts entirely since so many people deal with allergies these days.

Don't sweat it, walnuts aren't even the biggest factor in cake pricing🙂

You can find walnuts on other continents too😁

And yeah, I agree—walnuts are getting skipped more often lately due to allergies...

I’m worried you might have a tough time finding a bakery willing to handle wedding cupcakes—it’s a massive undertaking, and honestly, a lot of places just shy away from the stress right at the start. You'll run into plenty of people making them at home, but without a commercial license, those treats aren't allowed in the venue. Good luck with the search; maybe try asking a local bakery if they'd be open to a custom order... And if the price per unit climbs higher than $5.00, trust me, it's just not worth it.

depends on where you're located, I guess🙂
The lady I get my cakes from charges $333 (5 tiers)
and then every extra tier is $67.
Seems like that's pretty much the standard everywhere, though.

Alright, here’s a quick little review. 🙂 It’s all pretty subjective, really. 😁
So, my mom and I decided to order some macarons for Christmas. We're thinking about testing them out as a potential option for a wedding later on. 😁
We picked up some treats from Smile, Brezovica, and Aunt Vesna's place out in Ivana.
Smile. $22The weight per serving is all over the place. Some pieces are tiny, while others are absolutely massive. Honestly, you could eat just three of these things and feel completely stuffed. If there’s one thing that actually gets under my skin about them, it’s that one specific "I don't care how it looks" vibe they have going on.🙂If you’re getting three different sizes out of the exact same batch of pastries, that’s a major red flag for me. Honestly? The flavor was just okay—pretty much what you'd expect from something mass-produced. I liked the honey cake and one other variety, though I couldn't quite put a name to it. As for everything else... the Canadian pastry had crusts that were way too thick, and the white pie was the same story. There was also a cherry pastry that turned out to be incredibly dry. All things considered, I'd give it a 2 out of 10.
Aunt Vesna. $30Everything was uniform in size—per pound. The Canadian pastry was delicious, and that white pie? Incredible. Honestly, everything was just wonderful. My only real gripe was the peaches; they were a little too firm back on Christmas. I actually left them out on purpose just to see if they’d soften up, and they finally have. The decoration was absolutely stunning, too. Every single filling was top-notch. Truly lovely. I’m giving it a 4/5—only docked one point because of those peaches.
Guest reviews are in. I didn't specify which was which, but honestly, everyone caught on pretty quickly. The consensus? Everyone absolutely loved Vesna’s work, but they were totally let down by the service at Smile. As of today, we aren't doing Vesna's style anymore. It's just the Smile crew left.
Alright, here's just my two cents. 😉

Here's a suggestion for the new batch—try those cookies from the bakery in Savannah and see how they handle the machines.

Ladies, I have a quick question for you all.
Do you think a five-tier cake is actually enough to feed about 250 to 270 guests? Or would it be wiser to pick up two smaller side cakes just to be safe? I’d hate to reach that point in the reception where someone is eyeing a second slice and realizes there isn't a single crumb left on the table...

Hmm, well... it really depends on how big those tiers actually are🙂 There's a huge difference between a 5-tier cake where the top is only 6 inches wide versus one where the top is 10 inches... if you know what I mean😍

If they make them large, you'll be fine... if they're small, you're gonna run out quickly🙂
