I could use some advice. My friend’s mom—who has been baking for weddings for years—offered to handle the cookies, but I’m worried about burdening her with the actual cake. We’re only expecting about 60 guests, so it isn't a massive undertaking. I was thinking of doing one fruit-based cake and perhaps a chocolate parfait style, given that it's summer. Where can I order something truly high-end??
(Visual presentation is vital to me—as is the flavor, since I have a serious sweet tooth.) Thanks!

So, I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction regarding where one can actually source these specific wire "crocheted" cake ribbons:

Does anyone happen to have any leads or ideas on this?

Check out "Wedding Vows" over in Indianapolis. They might have them in stock or could order them for you.

Do they really have to be wire-edged? I’ve noticed at places like Joann or Hobby Lobby, they have all sorts of lace trims on rolls that aren't even that pricey. I know Enki usually uses satin ribbon to tie everything together before cutting the cake, so maybe we could try something similar with this 😕

I had a slice of cake today that was—honestly—incredible. It was from a local bakery in Chicago. The occasion was actually for a christening, but the cake itself was the star. It featured a parfait filling packed with various fruits at the base, layered with just enough light sponge to balance it out. I’ve decided: I’ll be ordering from them again.😁

Their cakes are seriously delicious... I've mostly only had them at kids' birthday parties (they always have such beautiful designs), but they're so good... the only thing I've heard is that they're pretty pricey. Do you happen to know how much a wedding cake costs these days?...

I had a little tasting session yesterday for my wedding cake since we were hosting a small get-together, and our pastry chef whipped up a chocolate parfait version for us to try. It was gone before the main course even 🤣 hit the table, and everyone was raving about how incredible it was. 🙂 I’m feeling pretty relieved about that. A couple of other dessert options vanished just as quickly too.

Yeah, I had some at a baby shower yesterday too. As for the pricing, I haven't reached the "buying wedding cakes and catering" stage of life yet—my wedding isn't until next year.😉

I don't think they're actually *that* overpriced, honestly. Like, look at Kat $83. That chocolate parfait is basically life-changing.

I’ve officially started my preparations, though I figure I still have about 11 months left on the clock. For the cookies, I’m shopping at $20 kg. They aren't just good—they're incredible. You get to choose from 85 different varieties. There are all the classics, plus some unique flavors I've honestly never even seen before, but I finally got to try them. I am extremely satisfied with the quality. Since I'm expecting 150 guests, I'm banking on 70 kg being enough. As for the cake, I haven't made a final call yet. There are these stunning options decorated with candied live flowers—totally edible, so you can eat the entire decoration. I'm torn between those and the ones with chocolate glaze, which look equally gorgeous. I haven't settled on specific flavors yet, but I'm definitely leaning toward parfait. How much should I put in the guest favor boxes? Is 200 g too much or too little? Help me out here!😘

Where on earth did you buy those sweets? Everything I looked at was around $70-$25/lb, which felt a bit steep to me...
Your option sounds incredibly tempting...🙂

I believe there’s a standard for that... generally, you calculate about 8 to 12 ounces per person for just the ceremony itself, depending on what kind of crowd you're hosting...

Given how emotional I get, half a pound per person wouldn't even be enough for me...🤣 🤣

But I think those 7 ounces you mentioned for the home portions are more than sufficient...👍

Oh, my wonderful Midwest! I have finally tracked down some incredible cookies for just $15/lb! And get this—the owner of the venue where I’m hosting the wedding is actually going to bake them herself! She’ll handle everything from the baking to the individual packaging, then just drop them off at the venue. All I’ll have to do is set them out on the table!

Hands down the best cakes ever! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Though I don't think they do wedding cakes, unfortunately... 😢

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I mean—do you have any idea roughly how many people that would be?

Oh man, I totally forgot to mention that this was all back like three years ago, so fingers crossed prices haven't gone through the roof since then.
We were planning for about 120 guests, and they suggested a 4-tier setup, but they didn't actually have a 4-tier stand available at the time, so we had to pick between 3 tiers or 5 tiers. We ended up going with the 5-tier one. Even then, there was still like 2 tiers worth of cake left over after the first round of serving🙂

Those cookies from the local bakery in Columbus (Bon Pro) are absolutely insane!
Seriously, every single guest kept raving about them—everyone I told was basically begging for the recipe!
As for that cake from Tom & Jerry's? It's just... fine. Totally standard. Nothing special at all, I guess.
