Not happening. I’ve seen this answered a thousand times already. You probably could have just Googled it in ten seconds instead of sitting around here waiting all day for an answer.

Right-click on that Vista partition and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.

Hit Add.

Select the first option, which is Assign The following Drive letter, and from the dropdown menu, you can either pick the default letter suggested for the partition or choose whatever you prefer.

Finalize everything by clicking OK.

Once you navigate back to Computer, the Vista partition should finally be visible to you.

Man, thank you so much; you have truly saved me from a complete nervous breakdown! I owe you one! 😍

Not sure which version of Windows 7 I should slap on this rig... go with the 32-bit (x86) or the 64-bit (x64)? Honestly, what's even the difference? My specs look like this:

thanks

If you're going 64-bit, you'd better have more RAM under the hood..

Take it from my experience.. I've got 2 GB, so I just stick with 32-bit and it runs perfectly smooth..

You can't perform a direct upgrade from the Windows 7 beta build 7100 to the final RTM build 7600.
There is one specific workaround 😉 that you can read about here.

The difference is that 32-bit operating systems support up to 4 GB of RAM, whereas 64-bit systems can handle up to 128 GB—which is only useful IF you're running programs or games that actually demand that much, which is EXTREMELY RARE. Also, 64-bit OSs are great if you want to play the latest titles at top graphics settings using DirectX 11.0, but you'd need a high-end rig for that—which you clearly don't have. Especially regarding the GPU; you didn't even mention how many MB and MHz your graphics card has...
Give us your FULL specs, not just the RAM and GHz...

Basically...with 2 GB of RAM and 2.19 GHz, I would strictly advise you to install a 32-bit operating system.
One more thing. Why are you trying to install Windows 7? It isn't even fully finished yet... If I were in your shoes, I'd go with 32-bit Windows XP Professional with service pack 3 (SP3) and everything would run perfectly. Unless you absolutely insist on using DirectX 10 or even 11, then go ahead and install Windows 7, but otherwise, I recommend 32-bit XP Professional with SP3. But like I said—Windows 7 isn't ready...
Try Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 and SP2. They ran flawlessly on my potato PC, which only had 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, and a 64 MB graphics card...
My advice is to NEVER use an unfinished operating system. Stick with XP Professional with SP1, SP2, and SP3, or Vista Ultimate with SP1 and SP2; as for Windows 7, just wait a little longer until they're done.

But again... it's your choice.😁

Cheers!

Windows 7 has been out since July and honestly, it’s running like a dream. I actually went through with an upgrade instead of doing a clean install, and man, am I glad I did.

Yeah, the Windows 7 RTM is out and available for purchase, BUT IT ISN'T FINISHED YET. A truly complete version of Windows 7 will most likely drop on October 22, 2009.

So you're telling me all the major PC manufacturers are shipping pre-built rigs with an unfinished version of Windows installed?

Windows 7 RTM is the build slated to drop as the official release on October 22.
Anyway, if you head over to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows, you can check out the latest stable Desktop and Server versions of Windows.

Let's go over the material again.

Development for Windows 7 is officially wrapped up. According to Microsoft, the software has hit its target quality benchmarks, so now it’s being handed off to PC manufacturers to run through their own testing and get everything dialed in for their specific hardware configurations.

Who actually grabbed the beta? Was it the RC or the RTM version? Great. 🙄Who else is counting down the days until Thursday, October 22, 2009? 🙂

The RTM version is being pushed to market now because it’s supposedly stable enough—as if it were actually finished. Personally, if I were in your shoes, I'd rather just wait a little longer...

What do you mean, 128 GB? 🙄 Let's go back to elementary school:

On a 64-bit machine, memory addresses are represented by a 64-bit number. Since a 64-bit number consists of 64 binary digits, it can represent 2^64 different values. This means that, theoretically, you could address up to 2^64 distinct memory locations.

What is 2^64? Math:
2^64 equals 18,446,744,073,709,551,616. That's basically 16 times 1024 to the sixth power, or 16 Ei.

So, here's the deal. Sixteen binary exabytes. It’s practically non-existent, let alone anything close to 128 gigabytes.

Similarly, the same logic applies to 32-bit computers:
2^32 equals 4,294,967,296. That works out to 4 * 1024^3, which is 4 GB—or 4 GiB if you're talking binary gigabytes.

EDIT:
That depends on whether you’re talking about the operating systems currently on the market. It’s possible their limit is capped at 128 GiB, since there isn't really any practical need for more right now. But theoretically? The limit is 16 EiB.

Please define "released." 🙂

Daniel Vaughn3 said:Windows 7 RTM is officially out. What can you actually buy that isn't fully finished yet?Windows 7 is officially ready to go. Most likely. Released October 22, 2009.

Where exactly am I supposed to go to buy an unfinished product? 🤔
That so-called "release date" of October 22, 2009, is absolute nonsense. It’s just not realistic. Final.

Thomas Hernandez21 said:You don't even need to explain it to me. I get it.

You're right—there are definitely other kids out there who should probably go back and review this material. 🙄

Daniel Vaughn3 said:The RTM version is being pushed to shelves now because it’s stable enough to act like it's actually finished. If I were in your shoes, I’d honestly just hold off for a little while longer...

Where can I pick this up? And what's the damage? 🤷
Windows 7 seems pretty stable so far—at least from what I've seen. The RTM version is officially out or "development frozen," meaning the W7 development cycle is wrapped up. It’s already been handed off to the OEMs for testing and pre-installing on their hardware configurations.

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone might have a Windows product key handy for Release Candidate 7? I’ve been trying to find a way to download it online, but I can't seem to track it down anywhere lately. If anyone happens to have an extra one lying around, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!
