I just finished watching this movie, and I'm honestly so shaken up that I felt compelled to revisit this old thread. It’s based on a true story, but it feels like they took quite a bit of liberty with the actual facts. I find that a little disappointing. I was under the impression from what she asked about being allowed to leave—and how she recounted the daughter of the survivor watching them begin their suicide attempt—that there were multiple people involved. I got caught up in the moment and thought, "this is absolutely devastating," but in reality, there was only one individual present. Now I'm left wondering just how much the violence was exaggerated for the screen. In the real case, nobody was actually trying to stop him, yet the character doesn't look particularly weak in the film, which seems a bit off to me. I suppose I would have assumed he was some kind of Bully🙂
