Look... whatever. The reality is that on my setup, Windows Vista x64 runs like a dream. It doesn't freeze on me once. If you don't know how to configure your services to suit your needs, that isn't my problem. A bit of info for the beginners here... I tested Windows 7 way before the beta... haha. To even get it to install, you have to manually set your BIOS date to October 2, 2007... WTF? Anyway, visually it's very... well, it's too similar to Vista, though they added some clever menu options. Driver support is still non-existent for a lot of hardware, so I stripped all that out immediately. It has potential, provided it actually matures and the big players start releasing drivers for Windows 7, along with software developers, because right now you can barely install anything. So, don't bother trying to see what it looks like just yet, because it’s practically unusable at this stage. Peace.😁

ArchiCAD

Sure, it's the gold standard for architects. However, I work in electrical design, so my toolkit requires AutoCAD or something built on an IntelliCAD foundation. As for wiredtiger10... I’ll stay reserved and won't bother responding to you. And Kyle Perez50... it's obvious you rely entirely on your computer if you've never encountered that error message or a Blue Screen of Death.

This is turning into spam. The whole point of this forum and these questions is to allow people to express their opinions. So, as my old professor used to say: try having some damn class!
Learn how to act like you aren't the smartest person in the room and start respecting other people's views. Peace.

By the way, I know exactly when Windows XP launched, and I stand by what I wrote. Back then, people were still clinging to 98. Windows 2000 was a fantastic OS. XP was also a great system that stayed relevant for a massive amount of time; my point is simply that there's no sense in arguing about something that everyone is going to adopt eventually. Some will jump on it immediately, while others will wait six months for the hype to die down. When you finally ask them what they're running, they’ll mutter, "Oh... Windows 7," as if they're embarrassed to admit it. Haha, it's always the same story.🙏

I won't waste my breath discussing complexes. If someone can't afford 4 GB of RAM, they should just go find a sturdy tree branch and call it a day. It’s obvious how this week will go. Windows Vista will be released without the usual nonsense. As I’ve said before, it follows the Linux philosophy, though since we are dealing with Microsoft, it’ll probably fail because some genius will complain that it doesn't support one specific niche thing. Personally, I prefer OS X over Windows, too, but I can't actually work in it because there isn't a single decent CAD application available for it. The reality is that people love to complain and act like they can't stand Microsoft, even though everyone ends up using Windows anyway. There is no need for such hypocrisy. Vista isn't worse than Windows XP; in fact, XP loves throwing "NOT RESPONDING" errors at you, which is infuriating because if it's not responding, it isn't doing its job. Give me one concrete example where XP is better than Vista, rather than just saying "Vista is slow." The only real stupidity in Vista is UAC and a few extra services; you turn those off and you have a rocket ship. Why are they ditching Windows 7? Because they can capture 90% of the market, and that remaining 10% just covers the bloatware required to make your junk hardware run. That part is going away... ha.☕

Let’s get one thing straight: I don't understand some of these comments asking "what topic?" or complaining that there is only 64-bit support. I am genuinely thrilled and counting down the days until this officially drops. I’ve already grabbed the beta, though I haven't had a chance to actually run it yet. This version is going to be significantly faster than Vista because it follows the Macintosh philosophy: we build the OS, and then it's up to everyone else to provide the necessary hardware and software support. It is actually quite simple to build an OS that performs like a fighter jet. While Vista attempts to recognize 99% of all hardware—which just means it's loading an excessive amount of .dll files right at startup—it ends up being sluggish. That explains why people constantly complain about its speed. Personally, I've been running Vista x64 for a year now, and I wouldn't go back to Windows XP even if my life depended on it. "Not responding"... lol.
Try running Vista on 4GB of RAM and maybe you’ll actually change your minds, losers. Next time, try reading the system requirements before you open your mouths. What’s wrong with a 64-bit OS? You aren't stuck with a 3.5GB limit, and there are 90% fewer viruses. People are just idiots. It was the exact same nonsense when Windows XP launched. Ugh, this is garbage; Windows 98 was the gold standard. Smart guys.
Best MP4 to AVI converter? in IT Support ·
analogangler52 said:I grabbed a movie off a torrent site recently, but I didn't realize until it was too late that it was in MP4 format. It plays perfectly fine on my computer with subtitles and everything, but once I burn it to a DVD and try to play it through my home theater system, it’s like the disc doesn't even exist—there isn't even an icon showing up. It seems like my home theater setup will only recognize AVI files.
Anyhow... does anyone know of a reliable converter out there?
I tried using one once for a movie that was at least an hour long, but halfway through, the program's name just started flashing right in the middle of the screen.🙄

Thanks in advance 🙂

That was a watermark because you DIDN'T buy the software! Bad girl!!!!
That’s the catch with trial versions.

Supposedly this one is freeware. I haven't tested it myself, but it's straightforward enough that I assume it works...

Have you ever actually tried gaming on an nVidia Quadro.....? (Running alongside a Q6600 and 4 GB of RAM)
I have. Let me put it this way: it was a complete dud. A total disappointment. I knew it wasn't designed for gaming, but man... it was underwhelming, to say the least. hehe.....😁

Mike, my man, where did you pop up from?! Haha. It’s a small world, even in a digital space like this!
