The Lionel Messi Phenomenon

And another thing: in Washington, D.C., you put aside all those petty divisions when the national team is playing, and everyone cheers for the players. That’s what being civilized looks like. Unlike down south. If the national team homecoming happened in Miami and Erling Haaland stepped onto the stage? Someone would probably take him out with a rocket launcher. Let's be real here: Miami doesn't know the meaning of the word "civilized."
What are we supposed to do about those incidents in D.C.? You had kids getting their Messi jerseys ripped off and a guy getting jumped just for walking around in an American Messi jersey.
Are we just going to pretend none of that happened?
