wiredrider9 said:It’s not just some sandwich—it’s a whole damn journey. You take one bite and you can actually taste the pig, maybe even hear a little grunt in the background. You can practically feel the life that cow lived, sense exactly which field of grass it grazed on. That sauce? It hits you so hard it reminds you why hand sanitizer is actually a vital part of the dining experience. And the bun... man, the bun is where the real magic happens. It’s an enlightenment, a total revelation. One bite of that bread and you’re basically traveling through time, seeing the entire process from start to finish. $23

Are you essentially suggesting, colleague, that the $23 transcendental has effectively merged with the physical?

I must admit, you were well on your way to disarming my positions ☕

I guess burgers, like pretty much everything else, can be either absolute perfection or total garbage, with all those messy shades of gray in between.

Could you clarify this a bit? I honestly don't see it, so I still consider anyone paying $23 for a sandwich ☕
to be an idiot or a moron.

User Amanda Evans2 saw a packed McDonald's parking lot and stood there looking just as bewildered as Lionel Messi staring at the pyramids in Egypt. 😁

Amanda Evans2 said:Yes, absolutely.
I really need to demonstrate exactly where I called my colleague an idiot and tried to impose my own code of conduct as if it were some kind of universal standard...
Through convergence, we’re going to strip away everything that doesn't serve a purpose. Go ahead—send me the specific packet where I called you or your client an idiot...

When we can't seem to find any common ground through conversation, perhaps this reductive method might finally bridge the gap... and who knows, it might actually prove to be quite functional...

Forget about self-reflection for a moment, no matter how unsettling that might feel...

It’s almost a chore having to hunt down your "brilliant" posts. From the very start of this crisis, your narrative turned incredibly aggressive and disrespectful toward certain users, acting as if you could dictate exactly what they should write or think. In fact, just a page ago, Paul Martinez73 addressed you with these exact words...

Paul Martinez73 said:You clearly don't grasp the concept of private property, nor do you understand a single word I’m saying.
Your issue is that you take offense like a total coward and start whining the second someone disagrees with you. Then you try to talk down to me with insults like "well, why don't you explain this," while crying about things that everyone else is doing on an even worse level.

The guy above is basically saying he'll head over to Steven's underground sandwich shop, but when I call him out, he'll be right back here sobbing about how I'm lecturing him... Just look at the posts from people like you and the others who just love to whine.

Everything seems pretty clear now. We’re giving you a pass because this situation was clearly caused by outside factors. If there is anything else you need to get back on your feet, just say the word. Despite our differences, we are all comrades here—former Americans, now Catholics and Americans—and we have to stick together. ☕

As a staunch liberal, I am simply appealing for a universal standard of accountability applied equally to everyone, coupled with mutual respect; that is the entire essence of my argument.

Amanda Evans2 said:It gives me a particular sense of satisfaction when, after a few well-placed slaps, the narrative suddenly flips and everything starts looking upside down.
When you transition from spiritual transcendence into pure physical reality, even the most stubborn elements of matter quickly find themselves submitting to the laws of physics.

A superior force, there’s simply no other way to put it.

The strength of an argument 🙂

I agree with my colleague in principle with what was written and that sentiment... live and let live.

Though his specific comparison isn't quite accurate since Samsung produces garbage phones, while Xiaomi outperforms them across a much wider range of models.
The same goes for cars; for instance, I drive an Audi, but that doesn't mean I should consider someone else stupid just because they drive a Kia. It's mindless chatter.

The point is different: if you tell a user that they are embarrassing to read or that they are an idiot simply because they hold a different opinion than yours on various topics, then I don't see why you're whining when someone calls you an idiot for buying a sandwich from $23, purely for the sake of petty amusement and small satisfaction. ☕

Do you understand now, or do you need further clarification? ☕

Susan Kim2 said:It’s the same logic as paying $800 for a Samsung when a Xiaomi is half the price yet people still buy it. Is it "idiotic" to pay for a Mercedes or an Audi when they cost 30% more than the competition despite being similar in quality? Is it "idiotic" to pay for a Ferrari when you could get a Koenigsegg that might actually be better? Look, man, you aren't an idiot. With that money, you're paying for the legacy, the massive ad campaigns, the racing wins that embed the brand into pop culture, and yes, the investment in quality.

It's the exact same thing with a damn sandwich. The owner didn't just slap a sandwich $23 together; they paid for the decor, the location, the chef, and the staff. It turns out $23 is just a reasonable price for them to stay in business. If you think you shouldn't have to pay $12 for a meal just because it happens to be a sandwich or a burger, that's on you.

Go ahead, use a Xiaomi, drive a Hugh, eat mystery meat to save a few bucks if you want. Just don't complain when someone else chooses to live differently than you. That's when you're actually being an idiot.

Good morning to you too, ☕

Everything you're saying holds water, but I wonder—if we used to follow certain life principles or values back in the day, why shouldn't we try looking at things from a different angle once in a while?

Just wanted to see the reaction. 😁

Amanda Evans2 said:Of course, just like every other debate, we’re met with a barrage of exaggerated anecdotes and half-truths, which are then lightly debunked by a series of reality checks...

That archetypal sense of masculinity is always being reinforced by using this crying emoji. Truly, congratulations on that profound insight.
Your personal idealization of Paul Martinez73's views is nothing more than a byproduct of you trying to identify with someone who clearly holds the weaker hand in this discussion.
Delusional disorders aren't particularly uncommon during times of crisis, so I can certainly empathize with your current state of mind...

If we’re going to talk about delusional disorders in these turbulent times, the only one who is truly delusional is you and your companions, constantly panicking over some supposed conspiracy aimed at destroying you—even though you happen to be living under the exact same, if not worse, regime as the rest of the World.

Spare us, Issati. In life, the only area where you might claim superiority is in the sheer volume of nonsense you've crammed into those 53k posts you've left on this forum.😁

So, since you’re clearly the resident expert on private property laws, why don't you enlighten us? I'd love to hear your take on how your client attempted to twist and misinterpret those very laws using their "expertise" and clever wording to justify such a blatant violation...

Law isn't my specialty, and I suspect Paul Martinez73 (who insists on forcing his opinions on us 🙂 🙂) has already handled that matter quite effectively.

Amanda Evans2 said:Is anyone actually spending your money—or taxpayer dollars—when they buy a burger? $23.
You can disagree with someone, sure, but labeling people who make those choices as "idiots" says a lot more about your own character than theirs.

So, because I don't share the opinion that Mac should be the go-to choice for burgers, I'm suddenly supposed to be an idiot?
That seems to be the way your logic works...

If things aren't done exactly my way, then it's "idiocy."
Honestly, it's no wonder this country struggles when people measure everything by such a narrow, condescending yardstick...

Exactly. We are a nation of idiots, applying the exact same standard to others and their perceived foolishness. You see it right here on this forum—whether it's labeling people who go to Church as idiots, or calling someone an idiot simply for holding an opposing view. It's much like how you hysterically and pointlessly criticize Paul Martinez73 or anyone else just because they happened to dismantle your arguments in a few solid exchanges.

Therefore, I fail to see why you or anyone else should be granted any special exemption from this standard. The yardstick is universal. ☕

Cheers,

I don't see why you're apologizing; you're absolutely right that it's pure idiocy to be given $23 for a sandwich. I fail to see anything wrong with what you said. 🤷

They're forcing their food opinions on us. 🙂

Look, my friend, this world is truly something else. Just take a look at this mess—I’ve bookmarked a photo that shows exactly how much nonsense we're dealing with.

It’s exactly like that "go ahead and buy it yourself if you want peace of mind" mentality. There is zero solidarity here; it’s just a bunch of bottom-of-the-barrel opportunists. 👎

Charles Roberts33 said:Technically, you should be able to whip up some yeast in your own lab, much like how our grandmothers used to do it back in the day.😉

I’m not really sold on those bread machines. I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to bread. It needs to have a real bouquet, a certain ashiness to it.☕

I know, but what can you do? The bill has to be paid regardless. I've managed to sort it out by reaching out to some people who have a bit of extra cash to spare, so we'll get it covered while maintaining a reasonable level of social distance. ☕

Charles Roberts33 As specified:
I don't particularly trust those bakers. I’m quite a snob when it comes to bread. It absolutely must have a smoky bouquet. ☕

Well, I suppose I could tell you, though it certainly won't live up to what a local might expect.

Charles Roberts33 said:So, less bread. Easier said than done, because honestly, there's no way I'm ever feeling full without at least half a loaf. 🙏

A few months before this disaster hit, we went ahead and bought that Moulinex-based bread maker along with some high-quality flour, but we're currently lacking the yeast needed to get the dough rising. 😂

Some guy at some sketchy little corner store thinks he’s doing me a favor, selling me a brick of bread that could probably last ten years without spoiling. But honestly, I won't even be mad when I get home and realize the expiration date is only a few days away. 🤦 Well, he tossed it away, so now you'll have to go out and find another one. 🤦

It’s honestly kind of hilarious how everyone who’s been secretly lurking around here is finally starting to come out of the shadows and reveal themselves. ☕

☕

Given the current pace of testing—around 635 in the last 24 hours if I'm not mistaken—and the fact that the Immunology Department only started preparing the testing medium today rather than actually running the tests, it would honestly be more efficient to put half the country under quarantine for the next four or five years than to wait for this crew to finish testing everyone. 😂

But let them keep testing; they should focus on contact tracing to prevent new hotspots from forming. Each test takes three hours to process, and some say these are quite reliable since they utilize three genomic sequences... though, of course, these labs have their own specific capacities and ways of doing things.

Absolutely. We moved past the stage of debating who the primary carriers are a long time ago; the reality is that a significant portion of those dealing with infectious diseases are asymptomatic. Whether you fashion a mask out of a tissue, a rag, a handkerchief, or some scrap fabric, the principle remains the same...

It will intercept the majority of what is typically projected through sneezing, coughing, or simply talking aimlessly for several feet when one isn't masked. It won't stop everything, but it will catch plenty of droplets on the inner layer. When everyone wears a mask, there is mutual protection and the overall risk decreases.

I support this measure; no one should be heading out without a mask, even if it's just a makeshift one.

The communication regarding masks was poorly handled from the start, much like the self-isolation mandates. Most people following that directive don't even truly grasp what self-isolation entails, and the actual enforcement of those isolation protocols only began in earnest after several days of laxity.
