Yeah. Like, intra-personal and inter-personal stuff... 🙂
Maybe we could just call this forum people ? It would leave room for all those subcultures we used to talk about (when there was actually space) and a million other things.
The real bummer, though, is probably that people don't focus as much on the actual field of psychology as they do on just being human...
Alright, look. Since we’re diving into a massive range of topics that don't even strictly fall under psychology (even if they touch on it), I feel like the current title is way too narrow for a forum like this.
It might actually make more sense to go with something like
Humanity and Society.
Something along those lines. John Walker74, what's your take?
Richard Murphy6, when things go south and everything starts hitting the fan, what’s your move? Do you actually fix the mess or just bail?
I mean, some people live for that adrenaline rush, so they go out and do stupid stuff just to feel it. And others might crave it too, but they just retreat so they can chase that same high without ever changing anything. Maybe that's the whole point—just staying stuck in an endless loop. If that's the case, the real question is... does that life actually work for you?
If it does, then maybe start by cutting out the part of yourself that's making it happen.
John Walker74 said:Bradley Fisher20, what are you, some kind of politician? You’re totally flip-flopping on God, man. One minute you're all in, the next you're out...😁🙂
😁. Look, there's one thing that's really bugging me. It's this whole mess of dissecting topics that should honestly fall under psychology. Because this subforum is just this weird overlap of spirituality, science, philosophy, health, lonely hearts, and whatever else...
And where does that even leave this forum? Honestly, we actually need space for the entire spectrum of stuff involving society and the individual. Basically, I don't get the concept of this forum at all. All I know for sure is that something is definitely MISSING.

Never met Meta12 before, probably just chill like Bradley Fisher20... I don't get why you guys are bickering,,, neither of you seems particularly high-strung or like you hold any extreme views... Did you two clash over something on a different thread or what?
How could anyone even get into a fight with Arthur Martinez7? Just try it, you'll see it's impossible 🙂.
Looks like everything’s fine. I’m gonna keep dropping these psychology posts over in the Philosophy section. Thank God the mods don't mind.
We're talking rage, anger, malice, happiness, freedom, laziness, power, focus, stuff like that. Honestly, though, the whole "love of wisdom" concept is what actually helps us pin down these issues... which makes self-help way easier too.
Arthur Martinez7, whatever, man. The experimental forum was easily the peak of this entire site. I bet it's pretty tough for you to deal with results like these, huh? Why don't you just head over to Philosophy? We'll figure out the root of your problem in no time 🙂.
All these so-called "issues" are just pop-psych nonsense you could walk over to an Algorithm store and buy two or three self-help books for...
If we're having a subforum like this, it should probably just stay under Science, even though it barely has anything to do with Science anyway.
But if it's gonna tackle actual, serious psychology topics, then I'm all for it. 👍
What an absolute moron 😲 man, what kind of arguments are those? Self-help books? If that's your logic, you might as well just shut down the whole damn forum 😵.
I still feel like the only real issue here—regardless of the fact that there’s a massive selection of similar, super popular genres and basically the same subject matter, just maybe under a bad title—is that naming a forum this way might be too strict. It might actually scare off the crowd we want to attract.
But hey, if there isn't a better name out there, then whatever, screw it.
Look, let's get one thing straight—I'm not dumping this under "Miscellaneous," because honestly, that section is basically the basement of this site. If it were at the top and actually had some decent traffic, I’d put it there.
Instead, I'm dropping it under Philosophy, so we can actually sit here and philosophize about it for a bit. Or maybe dive into mass psychology and whatever... Hmm. Maybe we should just rename the whole section to "Philosophy and Other Life Stuff" 🙂.
Okay, fine, I'm messing around a little. But seriously, this whole topic about that unfortunate ljenost is actually starting to bug me😢.
Richard Thompson33 said:Since psychology is basically my field, I’d naturally be "for" it, but wouldn't it make more sense if the actual need for a subforum was shown by how many threads are being opened and debated? Maybe I'm wrong because I don't lurk in every single corner of this forum, but I haven't really noticed a constant or huge interest in psychological topics.
You're wrong. Honestly, I've wanted to start a thread like that so many times, but I have nowhere to put it. If I post it in General, it just gets buried and I forget all about it. If I put it under Philosophy, it doesn't fit there at all. It should go under Health, but what the fuck...
Anyway, if it weren't for LJES, I bet people would be talking way less about Sex on here. Something along those lines...
Look, I'll be the first to admit this is all just heavy speculation. I've never actually made a career out of this stuff, so please... take everything I say with a massive grain of salt.
Talking about how psychedelics work on a physiological level is basically pointless. Like, what does it even mean when some receptor does something over here or there? It doesn't change the reality of it.
On a psychological level, though? I’d say they act almost homeopathically because they kick you right out of that shaky, unstable state. They force you out of the equilibrium, which—if you have the right guidance—actually lets you reach a real, steady mental balance. Honestly, I think Rea could get a massive boost from some proper therapy to realize everything isn't such a total disaster.
The bottom line is that your personality gets destabilized. And that is absolutely necessary. When you're treating mental health issues, you often have to smash those old, broken foundations that cause all the internal contradictions and bullshit in a person. You can't get there through yoga alone... you need a massive LEAP. And that's where psychedelics come in. They are freaking perfect for that. Seriously, PERFECT.
Because the whole "just forget about it" strategy? It's a joke. Just covering up the truth isn't enough, because that truth stays buried somewhere, just waiting. You have to reintegrate. Hope that makes sense... am I making sense here?
shadowgardener12... look, first things first, you gotta learn the difference between psychedelics and your standard psych meds. psychedelics work more on this homeopathic principle of positive feedback loops. and newsflash: there's zero addiction to them.
Jason Johnson4, glad you finally showed up. there's gonna be a ton of questions flying around here. I'm really digging this whole "total honesty" vibe you've got going on.
No123, I don't think you're crazy. You're just a little broken. It's what happens when you live in this messed up society.
I'm with you on this. Honestly, the internet is probably the single greatest thing ever invented for society. It’s got this massive potential to actually bring people together and create some real social harmony. But man, there's a huge difference between just talking about it and actually making it happen 🙂. It's one thing to dream, but another thing entirely to execute .
So, what are you drinking? And how are you actually feeling? I mean, compared to back in the day when you were clean... Are you dodging those "sketchy" situations, or just staying clear of triggers?
Sophia Johnson43 said:I gotta admit, the whole psychedelic thing really caught my eye...😉 here you go again...😲
From what I can gather, getting clean from something like heroin is actually easier than dealing with methadone (people describe it as this weirdly transparent, untouchable feeling) Unfortunately, I only know one guy who tried using Ibogaine (over in Canada) and it didn't even work... lasted just a few days. But according to that study, something like 26 out of 27 people didn't even experience withdrawal. And man, that is huge. Because those withdrawals are exactly why it's so damn hard for junkies to quit.
Anyway, I'm with you—we should learn more before we just write it off. Methadone isn't exactly a "choice" to begin with. I know tons of people hooked on it, but I don't know anyone who actually got clean through standard detox. Maybe the catch is that people often miss out on decent psychotherapy... And now, we're talking about actual therapy. The kind that lets a person be happy so they don't crawl back to the gutter. That ain't easy when you know there's an "easy way" out. So, you gotta offer something more than just the typical hedonistic way of living. A trip might give you some insight into the idea, but that's not enough. What comes next? I don't know. When I'm alone, I'll tell ya 🙂.
That's a whole different story. Over here, they exclusively use psychodynamic-oriented therapies (if anything) and, obviously, medication. Personally, I'm thinking behaviorism might actually be a better move 🙄 unfortunately. I honestly feel like everyone agrees that psychiatrists are basically the ultimate sellouts for their rigid approach to complex issues.
