When you point out that there was actually a solid movie in theaters recently—one you could easily track down at a film archive or something similar—they'll just tell you they're waiting for it to air on ABC.
From there, the inevitable follows: people claiming ABC is garbage because it's corporate junk. It’s just an endless cycle of nothing but whining.

There are two films that are absolute essentials if you consider yourself someone who actually loves, respects, or even just follows cinema, yet combined they barely pull in 15,500 viewers. I won't get into the weeds about their quality or whether they "succeeded" in some arbitrary sense. One is an American production that crushed it wherever it played (a real safe place), and the other is a European piece (triangle of sadness) that is a massive hit everywhere else. You really should go see them. But no, apparently, you don't have to.

You shell out good money for a ticket $12, only to be hit by a wall of stale popcorn smell before you even find your seat. You finally settle in, but the people around you are treating the theater like a food court, munching on greasy burgers and pizzas while you sit there enduring a marathon of local car dealership commercials. Then, just as the movie actually starts, the phones start glowing and ringing incessantly. Of course, some tall guy decides to sit right in your line of sight, and behind you, there’s a group that can’t seem to keep their feet still—constantly kicking your chair while providing a loud, unsolicited play-by-play of everything they find shocking or funny.
It’s pretty much all typical American nonsense. Especially when you look at the more recent stretch of Tomislav žir Radić’s work. It fails on at least three distinct levels: the substance, the execution, and the budget. Content-wise, he keeps circling the drain with those "heavy" themes everyone here has already dissected, and as for the execution, his stylistic choices basically act as a repellent for anyone looking for actual cinema—think about that handheld camera work in Ivo or that chaotic, Altman-esque wall of sound in Boiler Room. Then there’s the money side of things; judging by how these films actually turn out, even the biggest flops are clearly way overpriced, like Boiler Room sitting at a cool 3 million bucks.

Essentially, whenever anything goes wrong and she is at fault, she retreats into the excuse that she isn't feeling well or is in pain. She demands seven consecutive days off whenever she's feeling under the weather, expects to be thirty minutes late, and acts as though her heavy chemotherapy from decades ago dictates her current lifestyle. I honestly can't listen to it anymore; it’s becoming incredibly grating. I have no desire to accuse her of lying, but many parts of her story just don't add up to me. I am not a medical expert, so I don't know what the long-term side effects of chemo are twenty years later, nor do I know if it's medically plausible to have half an ovary left after such an aggressive diagnosis, especially since she hasn't seen a doctor in the last ten days. To top it off, a friend of mine was recently diagnosed with cancer, and when I asked this colleague to reach out with a kind word, she never sent a single message and never once asked how my friend was doing.
