Plasma Donation in Health ·
As far as I'm concerned, I've done over 30 voluntary blood donations, so I know the drill. 🙂 Last time I was there, I noticed two guys hanging around, but I didn't realize what they were up to then—it was during a plasma donation, which is still kind of new to me. From what I've been reading, the Institute of Immunology doesn't let anyone over 30 donate, though they actually pay people for it. If there's money involved, I guess it means there's some kind of market competition going on, because why would anyone do it for free if they could get paid? Sadly, it feels like fewer people are willing to step up and sacrifice like that these days (I mean, you can only donate blood maybe four times a year, which isn't even close to the 40 times you can do plasma, so it's not really comparable).

So, from what I’m reading, the Institute of Immunology won't even take anyone over 30... I guess the whole voluntary blood donation thing is fine, but I don't see the logic behind paying an "expense fee" when you could just go through the Institute. 😕

In addition to "whole blood," they collect plasma and platelets at that location...

Are the rules any different than what they do at the Institute of Immunology? Like, is there an age limit, or does it cost more, or is the whole process different?

The goods aren't ready yet, but they'll ship out and an invoice will follow. Basically, we need to get a Contract Corp signed first.

Payment terms are 90-120 days, so I probably wouldn't even bother pushing for 10.

Maybe this was already covered, but I can't find anything and things are getting pretty urgent, so I'd really appreciate some clarity here.

So, here's the deal: Company A has a product they're selling to B. Company B doesn't want to cough up the cash right away, but since they're a massive client and having them on the books would boost Company A's credit rating, Company A is looking at other ways to get paid.

I'm guessing there might be a way for Company A to grab a bank loan using some kind of guarantee, a Contract Corp, a promissory note, a bond, or something else entirely, where the bank eventually collects from Company B.

How does that actually work? What's the deal with promissory notes or other paperwork? And what kind of interest rates are we talking about when dealing with the bank? How do you even bake those costs into the price for Company B?

Thanks for the help!
Maybe try Nivea, but not the roll-on—one of those other ones. It’s small too, but it's more of a solid than a liquid, and it doesn't have any alcohol in it.

I used to deal with that same stuff, but ever since I switched to this, everything's been fine, I guess. There are like two different kinds, if I remember right.

Anyway, if you're getting reactions like that, it's probably just the alcohol in them messing with you.

I feel like people struggling with their weight often have a massive issue with the "why," since they never actually learned to eat because they're hungry, you know? They're eating for other reasons entirely.
I honestly loved that my elementary school back in Chicago had nutrition classes every single day in the cafeteria. They taught us about different flavors, ingredients, and variety, but they didn't ban things like chocolate, chips, or a burger from McDonald's. It was more about balance and moderation. I think that kind of education is huge because it doesn't make you feel frustrated or guilty, which helps you build a sane relationship with food.

Yeah, I'm with you—the "why" is the real kicker. I guess most people just don't view food as this vital part of their physical development. Usually, it’s just about chasing a feeling, whether that's actual hunger or just looking for a quick hit of dopamine. Plus, time is always an issue; if you're rushing, you just grab whatever's easiest.

As for the school stuff— 👍 man, I wish we actually did that in our public schools here.

Eh, don't sweat it. To err is human, right? I guess I might even forgive you! 😉

So, why does Olivier Pichot—this big-shot chef with a bunch of Michelin's stars under his belt—actually prefer working at McDonald's over those super fancy, high-end spots?

...

Pichot isn't buying into this whole "junk food" label. He's like, "Look, my take is pretty simple: I don't really believe in the concept of junk food. A Chateaubriand steak loaded with foie gras and butter, paired with heavy red wine and those massive desserts you get even at a three-star restaurant? That could totally be considered junk food. There isn't any more fat in a McDonald's burger than there is in a cheesecake, a buttery croissant, or some luxury pastries from Pierre Herme." As for the weight gain issue? "It’s not like anyone is forcing customers to crush three burgers, three orders of fries, and two liters of soda. McDonald's has that classic American image that maybe isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I don't think that has to mean it's bad for you. It just comes down to being an adult and knowing how to eat right; after that, it's your call what you pick."

"My dream is basically to expand what's out there, find new ways to do things, and bring more variety to the table. We should grab this chance to offer more options. At McDonald's, they told me, 'Help us find new solutions. Help us broaden our menu. Help us change people's palates. And help us teach kids, because if they aren't eating veggies at home, it's just because nobody taught them how.'"

Brenda Allen27 said:P.S. In my book, a "salad" is a mix of veggies, cheese, maybe some fish. I'm really not a fan of those basic leafy green things. 😁

So yeah, it’s clearly just a vocabulary thing. I mean, sure, a salad can be anything, but honestly, most people probably just think of those old-school leafy greens or garden salads.

What you're describing sounds more like a tossed medley of random ingredients rather than a true salad.

Still, I guess you could pretty much die from eating JUST a basic 😉 salad too.

Yeah, I’m with you on that. My point was just that anything done too much eventually bites you in the ass.

Some people are obsessed with soft drinks (not me, I swear 😁 ), some with pizza, others with beer, or whatever else.

Even stuff that's actually good can turn into a total disaster if you overdo it.

So, liking this or that isn't gonna kill you, as long as you don't go overboard. And honestly, you can't really argue about tastes anyway—like, for instance, I've never been a fan of ham. 👋

Look, guys, I’m not saying eating at McDonald's is healthy. Not even close.

What I mean is, there's just so much junk food everywhere it actually hurts. Nobody's gonna drop dead from hitting up McDonald's once a month—it's all a matter of taste whether you like their menu or not—but our whole "grab and go" lifestyle because we're always rushing? It's just not normal.

I guess McDonald's isn't any better or worse than any other fast food setup. I've got coworkers who live off pizza every single day, and honestly, I doubt that's any healthier than a burger.

Honestly, what kills me is seeing these clueless moms dragging one-year-olds into McDonald's to feed them that junk.

You're probably safer eating a plate of greasy BBQ ribs than some "healthy" low-calorie meal from McDonald's.🙄

Look, I get it, but I'd trust McDonald's over those weird health food shops any day.

But yeah, the issue is always about overdoing it. If we're talking strictly health, most of the stuff we eat nowadays isn't actually good for us anyway.

That guy who did Super Size Me and ate nothing but McDonald's for a month—he lived ONLY on burgers. Why didn't he just stick to salads, maybe some fries here and there, a sandwich, and just drink water during the test?

Nah, they had to prove that McDonald's sandwiches were absolute garbage.

I mean, seriously, what food can you actually eat every single day—and nothing else—without your health tanking?

Just chop off a finger.
I've got a boyfriend who sliced a little bit of a finger off on a table saw. Super effective.😁
