Westerners and Eastern spiritual practices in Spirituality ·
😁 I know an acquaintance who tried meditating and somehow lost his grip on reality—he fell into such a deep trance that nobody could wake him up. Apparently, his friends had to track down some seasoned yoga master just to go searching for his consciousness in the astral plane and pull him back. Then there was another guy who tried following some DIY guide on awakening Kundalini energy and ended up checked into a psychiatric ward instead. I guess all these intense techniques really require a legitimate, lifelong teacher rather than some meditation instructor who picked up a few tips at a thirty-minute weekend seminar. Besides, Americans have a completely different culture, different customs, and a totally different lifestyle than people from the East. It’s likely that many of these concepts just don't translate well to our way of life.
Lease agreements: Tips, questions, and experiences in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
😁 P.s. Leasing is great for corporations since they can write it off against taxes. For the average person, though? It’s a bit of a headache. I guess you have to wonder if people actually bother reading the fine print in those contracts... most don't, I suppose.

😁 Leasing is basically just renting a car without needing a massive down payment or a mountain of collateral, where you just pay a monthly fee for the usage. RENTAL. It’s a rental. At the end of the term, you either buy the thing out for some hefty, predetermined lump sum... or you hand the keys back and pray they don't charge you an arm and a leg for every little scratch on the bumper. The car isn't yours—it never was—it's just on loan. I suppose it's like a long-term rental from a place like Enterprise for maybe three years. Then you either buy it, which usually comes at a pretty steep price, or you walk away. I guess I don't really follow what you guys mean when you talk about those other kinds of leasing setups? 🙄 🙄
They don't know their own faith in Spirituality ·

I suppose I’d argue the exact opposite. Real faith doesn't really exist until a person manages to shake off all those doctrines that have been weighing them down or programming them since childhood.
Every doctrine is essentially a falsehood—and a pretty devastating enemy to actual human freedom.

The "average believer" (whatever that even means, I guess 😕) believes what they believe, and it feels a bit rude to suggest they "don't actually understand their own faith." 😉

😁 Well, plenty of people claim to follow a specific religion without having any clue about its fundamentals. And why would it be rude to point that out? If they say they don't believe in an afterlife, or they weren't even aware that their faith teaches such things, then you could arguably say they don't know the subject matter. They're basically presenting themselves as something they aren't.
😁 I suppose I hold a bit of a grudge against Plato for being so vague about the actual location of Atlantis. It’s frustrating, really. On a different note, I've always had a soft spot for plasma spheres; there's something captivating about how they just drift right through matter.
