The Mueller Report in Economy ·
Watched it hit 100 and it just keeps climbing...

My take on part 111:

While JPMorgan Chase and those other global financial terrorists (honestly, Al-Qaeda is just a byproduct compared to them) are out there lending money that doesn't even exist just to pay off their own debts, salaries, and commissions—all while reinvesting that 0% (literally zero percent) they grab from central banks and other big finance outfits; you've got regular folks, like the 2 million sheep in the United Kingdom, borrowing that same imaginary cash to cover their bills, mortgages, and loan payments at 18%+ interest through credit card companies.
Just because some sheep thinks they’re being smart by shuffling debt around with a few credit cards and moving money from one empty pocket to another while digging an even deeper hole, it doesn't exactly make them George Soros.
With little moves like these, everything gets a pass, even if the interest is sitting at 0%.

So yeah, that's the whole sheep vs. wolves thing for you.

@Kevin Reyes...👍
Man, that was brutal, I haven't laughed at anything serious in forever...🙂

Kind of gives me those Red Carpet vibes, you know? Just like some older version of a host you'd see on a local cable network...

👍

I’ve been bingeing some videos on Russia Today lately, and I might actually try to sit through all the recent stuff from the last six months or so if I can stay awake.
Man, we could just talk about this nonsense forever, I guess.

China is sitting on something like 2 trillion in US bonds...😲

Standard 40-hour work week? in Economy ·
Mark White2 said:In any real job, you’re bound to occasionally find yourself pulling crazy overtime and just grinding way too hard. It’s impossible to account for every little variable ahead of time and perfectly balance your workload across months, weeks, days, or even hours... But I guess that also means there are times when things slow down and we work less. Honestly, the people who are always stuck working excessive overtime are usually just making that choice themselves because they don't really know how to set boundaries. I get that the economy is rough right now and switching jobs is a massive headache, but it’s not like it's impossible. Plus, I feel like you've gotta keep investing in yourself constantly just to stay relevant—you know, picking up new skills, technical stuff, better ways to communicate and all that...

On another note, kids today aren't acting like spoiled brats just because their parents are busy working, but more because whenever they actually have free time, they aren't really spending it *with* them in a meaningful way. They just take them to the local mall, let them rot in front of a PC or a PlayStation all day, or keep them glued to the TV, basically treating wants like needs without ever setting any ground rules. There’s just no real communication, no talking through problems, and definitely no discipline or actual parenting happening. Kids have never raised themselves, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

So why are kids constantly glued to their screens or the TV?
1. Because parents are basically working themselves to death just to pay the bills.
2. Because it’s the cheapest way to keep them busy—like, joining a Little League team or paying for gymnastics is ten times more expensive than back in the day.
3. Because we live in a consumerist hellscape.

Every kid is their own person, really, and they mostly just raise themselves anyway.
If I had actually listened to everything my parents told me, or if I had just copied everything they did—good or bad—I probably wouldn't be sitting here rambling on some internet forum right now.

And that whole idea about an eight-hour workday? It’s basically a myth at this point.
The global pace of work is just insane; everything is treated like it's life-or-death and needs to happen right this second.

Does anyone else feel like they've hit a wall, physically and mentally, regardless of how many hours they actually clock? Like you've crushed a mountain of tasks—important or totally useless—and you're convinced today was the absolute peak of exhaustion.
And then tomorrow, it’s just more of the same grind, more urgency, more chaos, and you're stuck in that exact same loop again.

$5 billion budget boost for pensions in Economy ·
So, what does it actually mean to be retired?

I mean, retirement should basically be treated just like social security or welfare, right?
It’s just about having enough cash so some 65-year-old can actually afford groceries, a bus pass, and their monthly bills without losing it.

Honestly, it shouldn't even matter if you were pulling in $30k or $300k during your career.
Everyone should be contributing the exact same flat amount—not a percentage, mind you!—into a pension fund. If someone was making the big bucks, they could always set aside extra for things like real estate, gold, stocks, or insurance on their own time.
It seems pretty easy to calculate a basic social minimum. I guess the poor soul who spent their whole life grinding away for minimum wage will just end up with the bare essentials to survive peacefully through their final decade.
Then you’ve got people with disabilities, which is a totally different category; the government really needs to step up and make sure they have a decent, normal life too.

And don't even get me started on those massive pensions for Congress members or the President... if they didn't stack enough cash while they were working, then I guess they shouldn't be getting a windfall after they're done.

Just pure fair play, I suppose.

Man, when I first started dealing with this stuff, I was practically a fossil.
Hey mods, could you just wipe these two posts? I just want to see if the shrinking thing actually works.

Nobody making three bucks an hour is doing that.$1667 Being a doctor here isn't exactly hitting the jackpot, especially if you're grinding for some private equity firm. You're pulling in maybe a third of what they make overseas, yet the cost of living is just as insane as anywhere else in the Western world.

100%👍

I just don't get how some German apprentice or intern in a machine shop—you know, someone just hand-cutting threads or whatever—can pull in the same dough as our best veteran technician who's been at it for like 10 years.
And then you've got them constantly freaking out about being flooded by cheap labor from Asia, which seems to be their favorite way to scare everyone every single day.

It basically turns out we're even stingier when it comes to paying people than the Germans themselves, I guess... 🙂
The biggest reason, I guess!
A son's gotta be better than his old man at something eventually...☕
Same, similar, or different? in Philosophy ·
HONESTLY I mean, I guess I’m on board with everyone here.
It’s probably all just the same stuff—you know, those tiny little subatomic particles that make up chemical elements, which then basically build everything alive or dead on this whole planet.
But under some sort of umbrella, we humans tend to lump any living thing, plant, or even random objects and phenomena together just so we can categorize them into bigger groups to make sense of the chaos. We usually just stare at the surface-level traits—like species, anatomy, where it came from, how it acts, whatever
—to get by. Then, I suppose, everything else is what makes us distinct from one another, even when we're stuck in the same group of similar beings.

So, is there actually some kind of strategy or, I don't know, a real plan to make researching our system worth the money?
I'm talking about all those different ores, gases, water reserves, and stuff like that which 🙏 could actually be useful for our civilization, I guess.
Or is the whole space program just a purely human exploration thing, you know, like just seeing what's around the corner or if we're alone in space and all that?🙏

And what about teleportation?
I mean, to my totally uneducated ears, that sounds way cheaper than building those massive beasts just to travel through space.🙏

Morgan Cook10 said:Look, the real issue with space travel is that we're stuck playing by the rules of physics, which dictate the pace.
So... maybe one day we'll make it to Mars, or maybe even reach Proxima Centauri in 500 years... but that's pretty much the ceiling for humanity.
Even in 10 billion years, we aren't just going to hop over to another galaxy. That's the realization that really hits you.

👍
We’re way too small-time in this field to ever actually be big shots!!
Major props to everyone working in this industry, though; you really have to be a total fanatic to do this job!!

P.S.—we're also way too small-time to handle basic problems right here on Earth.🙏
