Oh, absolutely... Daniel Fowler9, you really ought to grab IE Tab.

It lets you run Internet Explorer right inside Chrome... which honestly saves me from the absolute chaos of a cluttered taskbar when I'm busy cross-referencing sites across various programs.

Gregory Walker15 Daniel Fowler9 said:I find myself in complete agreement with fadedtrucker19 on this matter; I’d go even further and advocate for using NoScript to block all JavaScript entirely. 🙂

If we’re actually going to bother expanding this list, let’s at least make it worth our while by adding MrTech Local Install, Download Statusbar, TabMix Plus—even if that one is a bit of a resource hog—and Update Notifier.

It appears my keyboard decided to take an unannounced vacation, leaving me to type in some sort of indecipherable gibberish that even a broken AI couldn't parse. My apologies; I seem to have had a momentary lapse in basic motor skills. 😉

I honestly find myself wondering if Daniel Fowler9 is even going to bother reading this far, let alone actually taking any of the advice being offered.

I'm going to give your suggestion a shot and I'll report back once I have an update. Honestly, I can't wrap my head around why this is happening—I went through the whole ordeal of uninstalling both Java and Chrome just to reinstall them from scratch, yet here we are, facing the exact same mess...
I'm heading off to wipe that profile now, though I'm fully prepared to be disappointed by the results.

Daniel Fowler9🙄

By the way, there's a bit of a catch: Chrome tends to leave its profile intact even after you uninstall it... which is probably a feature, if you believe that sort of thing.

Daniel Fowler9 said:I ended up deleting my profile and now it works! It's incredibly bizarre... I would never have suspected that was the culprit! Thanks!

Daniel Fowler9🙄

Don't mention it...

Chrome can be a bit temperamental with user profiles from time to time... though at least you won't accidentally wipe them out anymore.
It really was one of those particularly aggravating bugs; I once lost every single one of my bookmarks thanks to a similar glitch, along with all my extensions that aren't even being maintained anymore.

Anyway, you might want to spend some time wandering through the extensions and themes pages... you'll likely stumble upon something you actually enjoy.
I’d definitely suggest grabbing AdBlock Plus... browsing feels significantly faster when you aren't being bombarded by a mountain of ads.

I’m running Sun Java and Firefox 1.5.0.7, and all my applets are functioning perfectly fine.
I’ve given this one a shot too... and honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what the issue could be.

It looks to me like the problem lies somewhere within your own system setup.

My Firefox recently went haywire on me; it just stopped parsing XML entirely. It was likely some glitch buried deep in my user profile, probably triggered when the whole thing crashed thanks to some absolutely abysmal website.
Even a full reinstallation didn't do the trick—not until I finally thought to wipe my profile clean.

So, try deleting the folder located at \all users\Daniel Fowler9\application data\mozilla, or whatever the exact path is. Relaunch Firefox and see if the bug decides to show its face again.
If it doesn't, then great... if it does, there's clearly some conflict in your system's Java configuration that's causing Firefox to choke, but that's well beyond my level of expertise.

Damn, I’ve never run into a headache quite like this, so I'm really at a loss for how to fix it.

And exactly which URL are we talking about—the one where Chrome keeps crashing on you?
I’d like to see if we can actually replicate this mess on our end...
Lentils in Health ·
I’ve been wearing them for eight hours straight since day one, despite my doctor explicitly telling me to ease into it with just two-hour increments, so I guess I'm just stubbornly trying to acclimate myself...

Go talk to your doctor; it might just be that you have incredibly sensitive eyes.

Lisa King2 said:Look, old man, you really ought to steer clear of the weed before you end up senile—just like me😁. I used to smoke like there was no tomorrow, hitting six or seven joints every single day, and looking back, I can't say it did me any favors. Now, I’m completely burnt out and my memory is fading faster than an old man's wits🤣

Smoking seven joints a day isn't just "more" than one a week; it's fifty times more intensive.

The difference is roughly comparable to knocking back seven shots of whiskey every day versus having just one before Sunday lunch.

I just wanted to provide a little sense of perspective here.

rowdyranger6 said:Morphine🙂 😁 👍 ...no brain, no pain...

A friend of mine was trying to correct me on that, having recently come out the other side of some surgery while under the influence of morphine...
He tells me it’s not quite that simple; the pain is still very much there, you just find yourself fundamentally indifferent to it. A nurse walks in to check on him and starts poking around—does this hurt? Yes. How about this? Horribly. And this one?...
It isn't that the sensation itself is dulled; it's just that, for reasons I can't quite grasp, you simply stop giving a damn.

Every single time I load up Norton Antivirus, I can't help but feel a strange sense of nostalgia for the Brotherhood of Nod. It’s that specific, soothing female voice—you know the one—that just whispers, "Brotherhood of Nod... selected," right into your ear.

Ryan Ruiz said:To each their own, I suppose. Personally, I think spending $83 every single month on cigarettes—which, let's be honest, I am absolutely hooked on—is enough stupidity for one lifetime, let alone risking something like marijuana, which isn't even remotely harmless.

Good grief... $83 a month on cigarettes?

If I actually had that much cash to burn... look, I spend maybe up to $67 a month just on my high-speed Internet... 😁

On a side note, I came across some data suggesting the top five addictions rank like this:
  1. Alcohol—you never truly get over it; you're essentially managing a lifelong recovery process.
  2. Nicotine—you can consider yourself "cured" after about 10 years of sobriety.
  3. Heroin—you might be considered recovered after 5 years clean.
  4. Cocaine—you could be considered clear after 2 years.
  5. Caffeine.

I know exactly one person who was seriously addicted to weed, and even he only smoked two or three joints a day, which is honestly far more than most people touch in an entire week.
Back in my high school class, there were maybe only five of us who didn't smoke marijuana; if I recall correctly, more kids were using weed than cigarettes.

Besides, if I have the willpower to stop after just one square of chocolate or a handful of peanuts, I don't see how one round of cookies is going to kill me. 😉
Weed smoking habits in Health ·
I haven't tried it, and I certainly won't be starting now.
At least, not in that particular fashion.

Perhaps one day I’ll bake some cookies... people say you need to smoke up or feast on treats, summon the Wizard of Oz, turn down the volume, and let Pink Floyd play.
If nothing else, I suppose I really ought to experience that at least once.

Besides, it isn't going to kill off any more of my neurons than a single vodka would.
Medical staff being rude/arrogant in Health ·
I once ran into an absolute nightmare of a nurse... and the worst part was, I couldn't even snap back at her without looking like an idiot...

I had a fish bone stuck in my throat. I went to see my primary care physician, and she tried to get it out, but my gag reflex is so violent that she couldn't get any tools deep enough to reach it. She eventually wrote me a referral for the local hospital, so I cleared out and headed over there.
Once I arrived, this "brilliant" nurse starts lecturing me about how I didn't even need anesthesia—specifically a topical anesthetic—which was actually the entire reason my doctor sent me there in the first place. Then the doctor tries to just yank it out by force, fails, sprays the anesthetic, and pulls it out in seconds. As I’m walking out, this genius looks at me and says, "See? Told you that anesthesia wasn't necessary."
No, you absolute moron, I can't breathe, swallow, or speak normally right now because I am physically incapacitated, not because of the medication.

Then there was that one incident at the municipal clinic after a car accident... a lifetime ago, when I was still in sixth grade.
I’m lying there with a broken leg, casted all the way up to my hip, stripped from the waist down, sharing a room with two obnoxious teenage girls... just trying to sleep. Around 5:30 in the morning, following my third dose of sedation, I feel someone shaking me awake—wondering if they were prepping me for rounds or what on earth was happening. They strip me completely bare and start shouting something along the lines of, "Now I know what kind of dirty games you're playing!" I’m basically delirious, half-asleep... only to realize she’s exposed me entirely, and, naturally, my body decided to react to the situation in my sleep.
Meanwhile, those two little brats in the neighboring beds are just sitting there smirking. These are the same two kids who were terrified that I might catch a glimpse of their skin, given how blind I am without my glasses.
And when I first arrived, still reeling from the shock of the accident, one of these idiots brings in a kid who lost his lower leg in the crash... and asks me, "He isn't crying, so why are you?"
Goddammit, you incompetent fool, back then I didn't even understand what shock actually was or what the symptoms were, but you supposedly went to school for this and should have known better.

Honestly, the thought of leaving my life in the hands of butchers like that terrifies me.
Medical diagnoses in Latin? in Health ·
Kimberly Davis52 said:I think people generally don't read them because they're just irresponsible.

Well, personally, I make it a point to actually study the fine print before I put anything in my mouth. Sure, I don't always grasp every single complex medical term, and heaven knows I have absolutely no clue what half those specific chemical compounds are actually doing, but I can certainly manage to read the usage instructions, the contraindications, and the side effects. Besides, pharmacists aren't just there for decoration; if you're feeling particularly lost, you can always just go ask one.

I’m fairly certain you’re the fifth person I’ve ever met who actually bothers to read the manual before using it.
Medical diagnoses in Latin? in Health ·
There’s this one theory floating around suggesting that doctors intentionally maintain those absolutely illegible scribbles just as a clever way to mask the fact that they haven't a clue how to handle basic Latin declensions... 😁

Chrome vs Safari in Software ·
I gave Safari a shot a while back and... it's alright, I guess.

But that’s about as far as my enthusiasm goes.

I'm not exactly a fan, even if it is a step up from using Internet Explorer.
Then again, I’d probably choose Lynx over Internet Explorer too, so that doesn't really mean much.

Chrome All the way.

Harold King54 said:The whole thing comes down to whether you can mentally rotate that puzzle piece in your head to see if it actually fits into the empty space provided, or if you can just develop some sort of pattern recognition strategy to crack the logic.

That’s what they call mental rotation, and it’s a staple in most standard IQ tests.

Look, when you're dealing with mental rotation, you can usually toss out at least two, if not three, of the four options just by counting the number of tabs and blanks.

This test is absolute nonsense.
