What kind of American are you? in Close to Politics ·

not really😉 I guess I’m basically a Midwesterner now—even though I was only in that backyard maybe twice—but hey, I’ll always be down for some good bourbon, haha

I have to say, this test is a total joke... Whoever put this together clearly only knows the usual suspects. They obviously haven't spent any time looking at the islands down in the South Pacific—where on earth are Maui, Martha's Vineyard, Key West, or Kauai? Not even one single mention.😕 It’s peak absurdity—you ask which island is your favorite and then offer up an uninhabited island, then some random spot like Key West, and then just a list of more uninhabited spots like the Aleutian Islands or the Outer Banks. Even Catalina Island isn't really hitting the mark here. Honestly, it's ridiculous.😬
4.) Which island or islands are the most beautiful?
An uninhabited island
Key West
Martha's Vineyard
Maui
Outer Banks
Catalina Island
Swollen lymph node in Health ·
Just got back from my ultrasound, and honestly, it was exactly what I suspected—nothing to worry about. My salivary glands are just a bit swollen, and there are a few small cysts there. They don't even require medical intervention; I can just massage them myself to help them drain. The swelling is minor, but totally within the normal range. So, I'm healthy and feeling good. Sending good vibes to everyone—hopefully, your results turn out to be this uneventful too.😉

Finally, after digging through way too many threads, I found what I need🙏 😁 Anyway, I’m looking for advice, suggestions, or even just some layperson's "diagnoses." So, I went to the ENT yesterday because for about nine months now, I’ve had this nagging sensation—like something is stuck somewhere between my ear and my upper chest on the right side. (I actually saw a physical therapist and did some massage work—which helped for a bit, honestly). Long story short: he basically said everything looks fine, but when I mentioned the lumps on the right side of my neck, his tone shifted. He mentioned something about my lymph nodes being reactive or dermatological—don't quote me on the medical jargon, I'm not exactly a doctor—but he wants me to get a neck ultrasound and a biopsy on the mass he detected.
The thing is, these lumps have been swollen for three months now and I’m starting to freak out. (Mind you, I was spiraling recently with intense anxiety and depression due to a massive, irrational fear of cancer, triggered by losing a family member who didn't pass away from cancer, but 🤣... I've been doing pretty well lately and feel like I'm finally back to my old self). Still, I'm worried. What can cause lymph nodes to swell like this? Could it just be a reaction to the constant pain, strain, or stiffness in that area? How much should I actually be sweating this?

So, I finally made it to that ENT specialist my doctor referred me to months ago—between work and keeping the house from falling apart, I just couldn't find the time. Anyway, the verdict is I need a neck ultrasound and a biopsy on this mass they found. Basically, my lymph nodes are swollen, so I’ll probably move over to a different thread to ask about that. 🙂 No, thank God 😘

Alright, look—I dealt with anxiety and depression for quite a while (family tragedy, etc.) and ended up with those classic "lump in my throat" sensations. I’m mostly back to my old self now and things are fine, except for this persistent pain on the left side—it usually stretches from my ear down towards the base of my neck. Honestly, I suspect it might be a pinched nerve in my spine since massages actually help, but that tightness keeps coming back. That said, I wanted to ask about something else: on the front left side of my neck, I can feel two or three little bumps along the edge of my windpipe. Could those be thyroid nodules? What do you guys think? I know none of you are doctors—you definitely need to see one, probably 🙂

Alright, so I dealt with anxiety and depression for quite a while—family loss and all that—and I definitely had those classic "lump in the throat" sensations where it feels like you can't swallow. For the most part, I’m back to my usual self now, everything is fine, except for this lingering pain on the left side. It usually runs from my ear down towards the base of my neck. Honestly, I suspect it might be some pinched nerves in my spine since massages actually help, but the tension keeps coming back regardless. That said, I wanted to ask about something else: on the front left side of my neck, I can feel two or three little bumps right along the edge of my windpipe. Could those be thyroid nodules? What do you guys think? I know none of you are doctors—you definitely need to see one, probably🙂

Mmm... cake! Mine is going to be an ice cream cake—probably forest berries and chocolate. I want the outside to be chocolate and just as smooth as those ones you get at Magnolia Bakery.
