Kidding, kidding... I don't really care about typos. It’s just that some total idiots are lurking around here acting like grammar police over nothing...😁
slylynx16 says: The whole point of this movie being "more than just pretty pictures" is that the lead, Mia, is stuck between two guys. And even though society tells us we shouldn't be able to feel that kind of pull toward one person while still having deep feelings for someone else— loving them both—she knows that no matter who she picks, she’s going to end up full of regret. So, she chooses...

... her own death.
Like that's the ONLY acceptable, and therefore, t-h-e-o-r-e-t-i-c-a-l-l-y-r-i-g-h-t option.
Are you seriously thinking like THIS?
If you're torn between two guys, is it really more honorable to just die than to live through something "messy"?!
🙄
Why do you think this totally unique, special, "different" girl from the East ultimately had to die just because life threw an impossible choice at her?
I actually liked the movie, though I wouldn't even call it a musical—it’s more like an opera since there's basically non-stop singing (and isn't that what operas are supposed to be about anyway? 🙄). The music is just... wow. It's massive, intense, super passionate, and honestly just fills the whole room. To be fair, the acting didn't even matter that much to me. The sets are incredibly lush, and the makeup looks straight out of some sci-fi flick like Star Trek... the guy is actually handsome, but I guess they wanted to keep him kind of mysterious and subtle. If you go into a movie called 'The Phantom of the Opera,' you expect an opera. You want those over-the-top costumes, grand scenery, all that theatrical exaggeration, and music that stays stuck in your head for days. The score is everything here. Some people are going to absolutely love it, while others will probably hate their lives because of it. Anyway, this isn't really a "popcorn movie" for the masses... it's more for a specific crowd that appreciates this kind of stuff. Pretty solid overall. You don't always have to water things down just to make sure everyone likes it.
There’s zero shame in giving an American film some credit, come on guys...!? Honestly, I don't care who stole what from whom, the thing was well made!👍 Just to be safe, I rewatched the last third of the movie—there’s absolutely no preaching going on here (even if those two lovebirds are a bit tedious, let's be real). It does a great job capturing one bizarre, crazy New Year's Eve in Miami, where the city is sweltering even when it's supposed to be cold. You wouldn't even think you could count up all the dead bodies by the end because everything is just so wild and trippy, surrealistically fun, almost borderline ridiculous.😁 Who composed the soundtrack?
Honestly, I couldn't care less about all that technical stuff, blah blah blah... I was hooked from the very first shot because that camera angle was actually pretty cool (reminded me a tiny bit of Irreversible, though the movement here felt way smoother and more fluid), then there was the music, that gorgeous black and white look, and even the little clichés weren't that hard to swallow (like that whole sequence with Nivea and that typical American "pathos" 😁). In the end, everything just feels super laid-back... I wouldn't say there's some heavy-handed message or a strict moral compass driving it. The little addict girl didn't really sell it for me. I feel like a real drug crisis is way more painful, intense, and ugly than her just shaking a little bit—felt a bit too polished and far from reality, if you ask me. But I wouldn't say that's what the movie was built on—the heart of it is just that vibe of a wild, crazy, totally unique Miami, right?! 😁 😉
Really charming, actually. Might even change that bad impression I had from when I visited there. 🙂
P.S. Sure, there's some nonsense in there, but the whole thing leaves a strong impression. You don't always need to overanalyze a film.
Man, how can people not see Dina's talent? Even my "better half" doesn't get it?! 😕
Honestly, this flick is pure cinema gold for the true connoisseurs 👍!
It feels way, way more grounded than most American movies I've seen... those two characters feel like actual people I've actually met before. Plus, Cali has this vibe that reminds me of Europe, everything just feels cozy, intimate, and totally real.. ..it’s like you can almost taste a high-end Napa Valley Cabernet on your tongue
You wouldn’t believe how many people think they can just ignore "liquid calories"... like, they're chugging sodas and sugary drinks all day thinking it doesn't count toward their total... I swear, I've lost count of how many huge people I've met who gained all that weight basically from drinking nothing but Coke...🙄
Indigo, look, every body is its own weird little universe, and honestly, everyone's biology is kinda nonsensical sometimes. Just stick to your plan. The results will show up whenever your body decides to cooperate—maybe yours just needs a little more time to catch up. Whatever you do, don't cave.🙂 There are plenty of cases where you see zero progress for months, and then—bam—suddenly everything changes.
I have no clue why it works that way, but hey, it’s just what happens in the real world.

Directed by Ang Lee (A Japanese person? Umm... definitely not!)
So, we're talking about the heavy hitters... "Raise the Red Lantern," "Hero," and "House of Flying Daggers"... basically the holy trinity of visual storytelling. Seriously though...
Directed by Zhang Yimou... pretty sure he's not even a Japanese person either!
Hell yeah!!! 🤣
It honestly scares me to think what you actually consider "knowledge"... if you're really gonna call someone uninformed just because they don't know every single director's credits... seriously... I mean, I think God is still gonna judge you for that...😁 😉
Look, the movie is gorgeous to look at, but honestly? It’s completely useless... If anyone actually thinks otherwise, feel free to hit me with an argument that proves there's more to this than just eye candy... I'm waiting...😉
I mean, let’s be real, The Ice Storm and Hero are absolute bangers... no debate there!👍
Ugh, people just love making their jobs sound all mystical and deep 🙄. If they didn't wrap their knowledge up in these "magic" little formulas, they might accidentally explain everything using basic common sense... and then they'd lose that whole "holy aura" thing going on.
I'm still sitting here waiting for a single actual argument from this chemistry Inquisition, but honestly? All I’m getting is the stench of sulfur.
Sarah Gomez52 said:You don't just eyeball vitamin similarities under a microscope like you're some genius—you look at the actual molecular structure and chemical formula! And guess what? That formula is EXACTLY the same whether it's synthetic or pulled straight from nature!!! Besides, what’s even the point of "natural" vs "artificial"? If you isolate them and put them side-by-side, not even God could tell the difference, let alone you!!!
But wait, didn't they say they might look identical but act differently? Like, because you can't replicate that perfect synergy of all those natural ingredients just by making stuff in a lab?
Different strokes for different folks, I guess...😁
Some people are great at breaking things down, but clearly struggle when it comes to putting the pieces together...😁
mistybear4 said:thank god it’s actually easier to tell when something’s broken inside our bodies (or our diet) if we notice we're putting on weight... unlike those people who can just eat whatever they want without gaining a single pound—which, honestly, sounds like its own kind of metabolic glitch to me... it would be so freaking convenient if we could just plug ourselves into a diagnostic machine like a car to see what’s missing, but instead, our bodies just throw out these subtle hints that we eventually stop noticing... you know, like constant fatigue, zero energy, headaches, allergies... stuff like that...
👍 Yeah, when the metabolism starts acting that irrational, you're looking at a disorder—whether it's packing on pounds despite eating fine or dropping weight while eating way too much. So, your precious math equation still holds up, but being an individual means adding all these weird variables to the final result. It really does happen where you eat light and healthy and still gain weight. Or the opposite. But that doesn't mean—and I don't want this taken the wrong way—that you should just go grab junk food.
On the contrary, you gotta eat healthy (though "healthy" is a loaded term, so here's more info 😁 ) because the bill always comes due eventually... regardless of when that happens or how much it costs you personally. 😉
