Devil's Advocate in Movies ·
Hell isn't actually that black and white, right? 😉 It’s pretty unlikely that the Devil is gonna show up in our lives looking like some cartoon with horns, a tail, and hooves.
But the real Hell—if we even want to call it that—is hidden in how we perceive Goodness itself. Like, is everything that seems "good," honorable, or decent actually... good?
Take business success, for example. That's a pure value, right? But only until you start trampling over your principles, stepping on other people, and eventually, losing yourself. The irony is killer: we end up trashing our own values just to try and preserve them!
How many times have we done something terrible just because we loved someone?

It all comes down to the measure a person sets for themselves.
That's the whole "temptation" thing.
Hell stays low-key because he doesn't force anyone to mess up with aggressive tactics; he just finds those little weaknesses and nudges them in the right direction.
Man is the one at fault here. It's all his choice.

Really interesting take on the whole Devil topic, but presented the true American way, so even an idiot could grasp the point.

If you don't already know Al Pacino as a massive movie star, you might think he’s overacting a bit... like those cheesy character tropes he does are getting kind of old. But honestly? That’s just his vibe, and we love it for what it is!
Keanu Reeves is hot as hell and, predictably, totally hollow. Like, there's absolutely nothing going on behind those eyes.
Little Charlize Theron really stepped up to make this flashy cocktail work. Her acting isn't exactly high art, but it's definitely catchy enough to keep pace with Al Pacino. She's cute.
The whole movie is just aggressive and weirdly hypnotic to watch.
I seriously don't get why the critics were so lukewarm about this thing?!
I mean, I guess we all got a little reminder that Hell never sleeps, right? 🙄 😉
Movie Soundtracks and Their Composers in Movies ·
Definitely Hans Zimmer - Blade Runner - that's my absolute all-time favorite... life changer.
Ennio Morricone, or even that dark, moody Angelo Badalamenti.
Yeah, I'm with everyone here, everything you guys mentioned... totally agree.
And that one from Lord of the Rings (what was it called again?!).
Das Boot, obviously... but also the good old Top Gun (to get me pumped up)!

Anyway, I love soaking in beautiful film scores, but sometimes—even when I'm just vibing—this one little nugget from high school keeps popping into my head. It was my film professor Danojević saying: "Not a single expressive element of a film, including the music, should jump out at you; everything needs to be woven into one seamless whole." Hmm...
True, sometimes a movie feels like a literal competition between the composer, the costume designer, the set decorator, the actors, the makeup artists, etc... but honestly, who wouldn't forgive breaking that rule if the music is just *that* good?!

You see it in animation too, like Bambi—you could basically listen to that entire movie as its own standalone audio experience.

But then again, if the music is perfectly blended into the whole thing without us even noticing it, doesn't the vibe end up feeling a bit too "perfect"? Like, maybe a little cold? You know, technically flawless, but lacking that... "something"...?? Take Citizen Kane, for example—it's perfect. Everything. The angles, the foreground, background, the score, the acting, the plot, the punchline, the emotions, that sense of childhood nostalgia and everything we spend our lives searching for... yet, it just didn't blow me away (though maybe I really should rewatch it🤔 ).

Honestly, it’s pathetic when people like these hyperactive chickens try to play doctor.
If you actually gave a damn about helping that woman—you’d tell her to, you know, actually take her health seriously (especially women's health) and maybe blow things out of proportion a little instead of just waving her off like "it's nothing."

But hey, clearly that wasn't even on your radar.

Femme Fatale in Movies ·
I always find myself jumping back into these ancient debates 🙂 😉 but honestly, I have to vent about how absolutely garbage this movie is. Seriously, what is it with people obsessing over De Palma?! Those parallel shots feel so incredibly forced. Like, what was the point? What was he even trying to say with this mess?!

Gross. I managed to stomach half an hour before my husband had to look away and gag.

Anyway, there’s my two cents. Now this thread can finally fade back into oblivion...

😎
Honestly, I think she was hot in Memento—actually, she’s gorgeous. She’s got these really unique features in all her movies except for *The Matrix*. (I mean, she probably had to crash diet like crazy just to squeeze into that tight outfit, which is why she looked so rough there). Keanu is way too handsome, but somehow he feels empty. Even his character Neo feels hollow. Such a waste, because the guy looks incredible...
Man, my heart skips a beat whenever someone says Monica Bellucci is a total knockout! Maybe she was back in the day (like in *Malèna*). To me, she looks a bit soft and heavier now... kind of lost that edge (damn that Italian diet!).

Anyway, you guys go ahead and keep talking about the movie.😎
So my husband—total movie geek, loves all that "matrix" stuff—stumbles in soaked to the bone after hitting the theater one day... Completely crushed. Honestly, I feel kind of bad I didn't tag along... at least we could've laughed our heads off together at how much that total garbage movie sucked (yeah, I'm talking about the third one)
What are some movies you absolutely loved? in Movies ·
Requiem for a Dream.

Watched it yesterday, and man, it starts out freaking phenomenal (especially that part in deserted New York City, plus that killer soundtrack—anyone know who composed it?) right up until they hit the blockade at apartment 42. After that, it’s just pure déjà vu... or maybe the director just ran out of steam and had zero clue where to take it... just endless soldiers, "sticks," and girls waiting for them. Isn't that getting a little old?
And don't even get me started on the ending—total letdown!!

Honestly, if the movie didn't have such a killer first third (or first quarter?!), I wouldn't even be talking about it, but damn, what a wasted opportunity!

I'm not buying that comment about racism either; it doesn't hold water at all. Quite the opposite, actually.

My sister’s got a thing for older guys, and honestly, they’re totally into her! 😁
Maybe the guy finally chilled out. Good for him...

Btw, why is everyone acting like it's some huge perversion that he's my doctor, especially since I used to date him way back when?! We hadn't spoken in like a hundred years, then I started having kids and thought it was perfectly fine to track him down again. Thanks to him, my pregnancies were totally stress-free, and nobody thinks it's weird that we had a history. We're cool with each other, but "sparks" flying? NO WAY! He’s a strictly professional physician and just a decent human being, and I'm not some clueless kid anymore.
To me, the real perversion is seeing this degenerate trend among young girls lately—they are absolutely obsessed with married men!! Now THAT is a societal sickness, not the fact that I'm getting an exam from someone I used to kiss.

Good grief, where on earth did you find that heifer at the mall?! There’s a seriously hot guy over there, but looks like you beat him to the punch!

And that *** totally flashed through my mind immediately!! 🙂 😁

Believe it or not, this total smoke-show was hitting on my attractive little friend about 8 years ago back when he was working at some local clinic!! I think they talked a few times, but as for actually seeing each other—who knows!! Basically, he’s a massive player and gets bored of women fast.
But hey, that’s got nothing to do with his actual medical credentials, just an "off the cuff" observation..
Everyone in those white coats is a player. And don't take that "everyone" too literally.😉
Flu symptoms in Health ·
Even though I’m super careful about health and keeping our immune systems up, this year’s nasty little cold was just brutal and wouldn't quit. It dragged me under for about 10 days, which sucked, but my heart honestly breaks for my 14-month-old daughter. She’s been suffering so much... even though she's been breastfed for a year and we spent two whole months soaking up the sun and eating nothing but fresh, amazing coastal food and veggies.
Just when it looked like she was finally over it—she suddenly got her energy back, started eating, playing, the whole nine yards—something hit her again just a few days later. This second wave didn't last quite as long, but now I'm stuck in this limbo where I have no clue when I can actually treat her like a healthy kid again... you know, taking her for walks, letting her have a bath, stuff like that?! I'm terrified of another relapse, and honestly, I'm feeling pretty guilty... maybe it was my fault for giving her a bath right after she seemed better?!
The pediatrician put her on some Augmentin and nasal drops, but... I don't even know if it's doing anything!?

Seriously, what can a person even do to stop this from happening?!
To be honest, I don't think it's even an issue of "weak immunity" anymore... because neither she nor I have ever really had that problem before.

I'm just praying she at least builds up some kind of resistance to colds and other bugs now, because in her first year of life, she hadn't been sick even once.

Those damn viruses just keep mutating! And it feels like they're winning.

Wisdom is basically just learning how to live on your own terms, accepting the stuff you can’t fix, and actually knowing who the hell you are.
It's about finally figuring out where you fit into the grand scheme of things...
Real wisdom? It's just maturity. That deep, "been-through-it" kind of life experience...
