I’d start offering my own interpretations, but I haven't even seen the movie yet. Is all that overthinking even necessary?

Sherlock Holmes once noted in "A Study in Scarlet": "An ideal logician should be able to deduce the existence of Niagara Falls or the Pacific Ocean from a single drop of water."

In other words: OVERKILL!
Dante said:The unfortunate truth is that this feels a bit too much like Star Wars. While everything they’ve put together is visually impressive, it’s all surface-level spectacle; there isn't much substance to actually chew on. You walk out of the AMC Theatres with nothing but fleeting visual impressions that vanish almost immediately.

Fantastic. We're finally returning to the classic Matrix that we all grew to appreciate and enjoy.

I suspect this won't be the last time we see The Matrix. At the end, the Oracle implies there's more to come regarding Neo's journey, though the sheer amount of sentimentality injected into the plot feels a bit heavy-handed. Looking back at the recent installments, it’s become painfully obvious that the franchise has pivoted into being a pure action series; the first film was really the outlier, possessing a unique spark of inspiration that seems to have lost its purpose in these sequels.

WHO! Finally, we get to hear our national anthem: an ultra-intense techno soundtrack!

I honestly can't wrap my head around why they chose the title "Revolutions."

Don't worry about it. Before long, you won't just understand why it's titled Revolutions; you'll be drowning in fifteen different interpretations of the exact same thing.

Do you happen to know if there's any way to track down the Cowboy Bebop series rather than just the movies?
As for those boneheads, they really should have been given a license for a third network so we could just spend all day watching nothing but anime and cartoons.

Melissa Moore32!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 ANOTHER MUST WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

I've said my piece: when it comes to anime, he is exactly the guy you're looking for. He managed to get his hands on the series, the films, and even all the soundtracks for me.

Look, there are really only two things I can say in response to that:

If I actually had the ability to borrow movies from the eccentrics at the local video rental shop, I certainly would.

Even if Hollywood films turn out to be mediocre, they only need to be just good enough to satisfy my craving for entertainment—which, if I'm being honest, is a pretty low bar.

For those interested, here are some stills from the film: large format, high resolution... Currently, I have a Japanese schoolgirl as my desktop wallpaper. 😁

Hobbit said:I suspect we’re about to see a massive wave of movies centered around katana usage. Expect a flood of samurai and yakuza stories coming our way.

Is this a tilt? I always assumed throwing a katana into a movie was as natural as breathing. Honestly, if you have any film or series featuring cold weapon combat in a modern setting, there practically *has* to be at least one katana involved, right? Because let’s face it, they’re just objectively cool.

Then again, perhaps I just spend far too much time watching Japanese animation and Hong Kong martial arts flicks...😁
Gary Kelly8 said:I am genuinely curious how they plan to fit several thousand Agent Smiths on one screen...
Though, perhaps there will be a few extra copies of Monica Bellucci too...🙂

It would be fine, as long as it isn't several THOUSAND MONICA BELLUCCIS!!111 Jesus, talk about sensory overload; I’d probably just have an epileptic seizure and collapse right onto the theater floor.

Smith's and Neo will strike a deal where the Smiths get to live freely within The Matrix, provided they use their powers to establish Gospel Catholic choirs in Harlem.

Nice one, rapidstag74! You've completely ruined the movie for me. You absolute jerk.
Megan Ruiz13 said:I don't quite get it—isn't this essentially just one movie split into two parts?
Since they were filmed back-to-back, how can anyone expect Revolutions to be any better than Reloaded if it's all part of the same production?

D'uuuh. That's why the sex scene between Carrie-Anne Moss and Monica Bellucci didn't fit into the second installment.
I’ll be heading to the theater to see the third installment if nothing else happens, purely out of hope that The Wachowskis might actually pull it all together and deliver something decent. I found the first one to be excellent, whereas the second... well, not so much. Regardless, The Matrix is exactly the kind of spectacular spectacle that truly demands the big screen.

I went through the film list in that original thread before starting this one, and I didn't see this mentioned anywhere.

It’s really a failure on the part of the moderator(s). This feels like the third thread covering this exact same ground.
What's the song from that Diet Coke commercial? in Miscellaneous ·
I believe the track is titled "Sway," though I can't say for certain. I recall hearing it during the end credits of the movie "Sexy Beast," performed by Dean Martin, which would suggest the song is at least fifty years old.

By the way, I served as the lead consultant on set, and I spent endless hours training with Uma Thurman until she had practically mastered everything I know. 😁 😁 😁

Must... resist.... gravimetric... pull... Must... write... like... th..

That must have been a brief lesson, wasn't it?

Jessica Nguyen85 said:The soundtrack works perfectly during specific scenes. It’s totally cool... like when Uma Thurman grabs a samurai sword, strikes a pose, and the music kicks in... the effect is great. Though, really, it all boils down to 😉

I mean... what else do you actually need?

1) Uma Thurman playing the hero.
2) Katanas.
3) Lucy Liu as the villain.
4) Katanas.
5) Quentin Tarantino.
6) Katanas.
7) An ultra-intense WOKKA CHICKA WOKKA CHICKA! soundtrack.
8) Katanas.
9) Displays of martial arts skills.
10) Katanas.
11) Katanas.
12) And more katanas.

As an optional extra, the film should feature flying bodies, slicing through things, flipping out, and decapitating people without a second thought.

The recipe for success.

Jessica Nguyen85 said:The soundtrack is listed simply as "original music" in the credits, which makes it incredibly difficult to pin down exactly what we're listening to. It has this vibe reminiscent of those funky 70s action flicks—sort of a Blaxploitation feel—but it’s really a unique blend. For instance, during one of those slow-motion sequences (a total Tarantino staple), the score reminded me of the glamorous tracks you'd hear at a high-end fashion show. It’s got a little bit of everything.

From what I heard on the film's teaser, it sounds fantastic. If the full soundtrack is as high-energy as I'm expecting it to be, I already know exactly which CD I'll be begging my sister to get me for Christmas.🙂

granitesailor98 said:Honestly, I didn't even catch that. I mean, I saw the sign and I've read War of the Worlds, but the connection never clicked for me. It's cool, though. It proves the whole point of the movie isn't just mindless churning for Hollywood. Well, maybe it is... but at least not as much as usual.

Heh, if you look closely at the comic, there are plenty of little details worth noting: tiny "TESLA - EDISON CORPORATION" labels on the streetlamps (given their whole rivalry over AC vs. DC power), stickers on Qutermain's suitcase that hint at his travels, and even vintage 19th-century ads printed over newspapers and advertisements within the panels—stuff like that...
The Avengers (2003) in Movies ·
I noticed one little detail in the film that I actually had to point out to my friends because I'm pretty sure I was the only one who caught it:

Right at the start, when they arrive at the docks in New York, there’s a poster on the wall with big, sensationalist headlines screaming "VOLCANO ERUPTION ON PLANET MARS!". This is actually the setup for H. G. Wells' "War of the Worlds": scientists back here on Earth spot what look like "volcanic eruptions" on Mars, but they're really just shots from
a massive cannon built by Martians to launch their invading army toward Earth in giant shells. The story takes place in 1899... 😁

My two cents.

Linda Mitchell38 said:there’s definitely some nonsense in there, but I didn't find the movie bad at all... I honestly don't get how anyone could find it boring when you have Sean Connery, Pete Wilson, and Stuart Townsend all in one film ( 🙂 )

I can't say much about the first and third characters, but I absolutely loved Pete Wilson's character.
It was quite amusing watching him perform a chemical analysis on the powder found on the bridge of the Nautilus, while actually just hiding pencils in his hair. How delightfully... librarian-esque of him.

Uh.... errrr, I have to go. Heh.
