My doctor looked me straight in the eye and told me my physical issues are just a byproduct of my psyche—basically, unresolved mental stuff. Look, I have massive respect for her, truly, but I hated how she handled it. Not only was I already reeling from the diagnosis, but now I’m sitting here feeling guilty for being sick myself!

It’s not just what gets said, it’s the delivery—how someone actually breaks the news to you.

The last thing a doctor should do is make a patient feel responsible for their own suffering. You didn't do this to yourself on purpose, believe me.

Maybe subconsciously? Who knows.

Speaking of doctors and their "tact," I once had an old Chief of Oncology at Mayo Clinic tell me right as I was being discharged—just because your tests look good now doesn't mean you're going to stay healthy.

That the illness will just come back for you eventually. That was his parting gift to me when I was only 21.

And don't even get me started on how he sent me for unnecessary MRIs—he just wouldn't trust his own eyes after the first scan. He was basically desperately hunting for proof that I was still sick, just to validate that his specific brand of medicine was the only one that worked.

Every Christmas, I make sure to send him a card—signed by yours truly, miraculously still healthy despite everything.

So, for those of you preaching the alternative route—tell me, what would you actually do if you were in my shoes? Would you really gamble everything on "natural" cures and risk a slow, painful death?

😢

Honestly?

I don't know.

A few years back, I was the one laughing at anyone who even mentioned holistic stuff—it was basically a joke to me.
I stuck strictly to the big-name, proven pharmaceuticals.

But when you hit that wall where it’s either try something else or just give up, you don't spend much time debating it.

In my case, there wasn't even a choice between traditional and alternative medicine. Standard doctors had already thrown up their hands.

Those powerful pills have definitely done some damage... my stomach is incredibly sensitive. It’s been awful.

That’s exactly why I’m posting about it. They help one thing but wreck another—it’s a real lose-lose situation.

And look, boldeagle3, the main thing is just getting started with the cleaning process—once you actually dive in, things can only get better from there. 🙂

Gotta get some walking in... otherwise my back starts acting up again... 🙂

honestly, her therapist should probably be sending us an invoice😉

It feels like we're doing half his job for him here. A woman vents, lets it all out, goes off the rails, throws insults... this Forum basically acts as her personal "rage room."

Sure, let's move it to RiD—there's always plenty of drama happening there anyway.😉

But seriously, Maristella—you always manage to crack me up, even with your most basic comments.😉 🙂 ....

.Things are about to get a lot tougher.
The real struggle is just starting now.

Hang in there—you’re going to need it. I’d be lying if I said otherwise.

Personally, I’m an extremist when it comes to meds—like, I won't even touch an Advil.

It’s not that I don't feel things; I just take a bath, go to sleep, or head outside for some fresh air (dry, hot air and sitting still too much is usually my trigger)—or if I'm at work, I just take a quick breather.

When my husband and I first met, his family reminded me so much of your mom.

They actually had this dedicated cabinet in their house just for medicine 😲 and everyone thought it was perfectly normal to pop some Voltaren or something similar every single day whenever they had a headache.

Basically, treating the symptom instead of the cause.

I tried to pass along some relaxation methods or alternative techniques to him.

He eventually started practicing autogenic training—it's huge here in the States. Apparently, Germans originally developed it.

I can't even remember the last time he took a pill—though, honestly, if you'd asked him a few years ago, he probably would've had a panic attack if we suddenly ran out of supplies at home.

When someone lacks actual arguments, they usually resort to cheap insults.

And you’re practically drowning in them.

Honestly, I wish I didn't matter to you so much 😉 maybe then you wouldn't feel the need to drag my name into every single damn thread you jump into.

But hey—by obsessing over me day in and day out, you’re making it pretty clear just how much headspace I occupy.

Go ahead and ask your husband—if you don't believe me.😁

Personally, I’ll take a pill over "good intentions" any day—mostly because I don't have much willpower left to begin with. What else am I supposed to do?

Fair enough—can't fault the honesty.🙂

electricdriver78 said:Honestly—I couldn't care less what "some people" like you think.

Poor little Winchi—just my luck. 😢

Says the person who’s just sitting there, typing away at their desk—probably while sipping a lukewarm coffee.

Check out my post to boldeagle3.

Maybe you'll finally see where I'm coming from—if you look closely enough.

It’s pretty transparent—once you run out of actual arguments, you just resort to being condescending.

I’ve always been way too concerned with everyone else—which, honestly, is exactly why everything ended up being such a mess.

Well, you hit the nail on the head—you said it all.

Look at the dark side of things—once you accept that, everything eventually turns black anyway.

And vice versa.😉

electricdriver78 said:I’m not actually trying to agree or disagree with you here.

Just go read my post over to boldeagle3

maybe then you'll get where I'm coming from.

As for you—just worry about your own business and leave people like me alone.

Let us "poison" ourselves in peace—you'll thank us later.👍

Look, honey, I'm not even bothering you.🙂

You're the one picking fights with my posts.

I barely have enough time to take off my coat before the internet crashes the second I walk into the office.😁

— she keeps calling me crazy, insisting I shouldn't stop my meds because I'm "just high-strung," then asks if I missed a dose.

Oh, bless her heart...

I’m venting all this at you out of nowhere, and you haven't done a single thing wrong 😁

Now you want to know how I'm going to give birth?

If you spent half as much time focusing on your own life as you do on everyone else's—you might actually make some progress 😉

Look, I'm not belittling you and I'm not even talking *to* you. I have an opinion—one that isn't changing no matter how much you talk trash about it, which I think should be pretty obvious by now.
Mind-body connection? in Health ·
The core difference between our perspectives is pretty simple—I truly believe you can impact mental health without relying solely on medication.

I’m glad you managed to sort everything out just by "having fun with yourself and your own life," but for some people, obsessing over cellulite or whether their pedicure is perfect isn't exactly the biggest struggle in the world.

You know perfectly well what I went through—and honestly, you tend to bring it up in a pretty nasty way in your posts. For those who aren't aware—it was a tumor.

It was at a stage where doctors weren't even sure they wanted to operate. My mom—who's a doctor herself—was completely exhausted, both mentally and physically. It's wild how she could help so many others, yet struggled to help her own child.

See, electricdriver78—when everyone else gives up on you, you turn to "alternative" methods because there's nothing left. And once that alternative saves your life? You don't need any more proof than that.

If it could handle something that massive, it can certainly handle the smaller things.

Actually, worrying about cellulite or getting a pedicure was like therapy for my soul after all that.

There are entire clinics in Germany that specialize in treating mental health through alternative therapies. If they didn't actually work, they wouldn't have been around for decades.

Give yourself a little reality check—it seems like you just can't stomach an opinion that doesn't mirror your own.

We both know we’re never going to see eye-to-eye on this, so I'm surprised you keep trying to pick this fight.
Scalp issues in Health ·
Does anyone actually know what dandruff is—and is it contagious?

Just speaking layman's terms here—it’s basically just dry scalp flaking up.

For instance, my mom always deals with it right after she dyes her hair (the chemicals just wreck her scalp).

And it’s definitely not contagious 😁

But it’s still one of those awkward things—you just want to be careful when you're talking to someone else the next day.😉
Childhood roots in Health ·
At first, it’s probably going to feel like things are actually getting worse.

But they aren't. It's just the process of scrubbing those old, grime-covered windows in our souls—it takes time. And yeah, it hurts while you're doing the cleaning.

After all, that junk has been piling up for years; you can't exactly expect to just wipe it away in one afternoon.

It doesn't work like that. There's always a bit of pushback.

You just have to hang in there and stay persistent. 🙂

Super Miami Beach, I’m sure I’ll pick up a few things to round out my home chart 😉 🙂

I actually keep a little chart for organs—like, if your stomach is acting up, or you just can't "digest" someone, which usually means skin issues.

But yeah, it’s all pretty high-level stuff.
Mind-body connection? in Health ·
Feel free to put that into a table 🙂 👍

It's wild how people can drive themselves into that state using nothing but their own psyche. But honestly, it’s beautiful when you hear about someone beating a terminal illness just through mental fortitude—or pure willpower...

I actually posted something similar on Reddit about two years ago. Even now, there are still people who just don't get it—and their way of handling that confusion is usually just to mock others.

They don't need to prove anything to anyone.

I proved it to myself, and that's more than enough.

Exactly. I just meant that our thoughts are what trigger all those disorders.

Well, obviously 🙂

It's just easier to pop a pill than to actually do the work on yourself. Doing the internal work is much slower, it hurts like hell at first, and it drags up all these old, unprocessed issues from the past.

And most people aren't looking for that.

Actually, my bond with electricdriver78 really ignited during a thread just like this one.

And my stance back then was the same as it is today—you don't necessarily need chemicals to heal.

$650 so far just for a bikini wax 😲

I feel bad—don't want to rub it in, but I'm hurting for you.

They ended up doing my entire leg for a slightly larger shape last time.

The thing I was most terrified of? Yeah, I went right ahead and did it.

👍

Personally, I’m a firm believer—though I know 😁—that the spirit drives the body, not the other way around. Your body is never going to feel right in the long run if your spirit is exhausted, drained, terrified, disappointed, or just bleeding out internally.

So yeah, I'm a total convert when it comes to psychosomatic issues.

The mind-body connection runs much deeper than people usually realize (though you can definitely prove it)—and when it comes to more complex physical symptoms, you need time and a really thorough approach to figure it out.

👍

Plus everything else shadowgardener12 mentioned—it's all true. He knows his stuff. 😉 🙂

To me, a physical illness is basically just a flare-up signal from the psyche when it simply can't take any more.

My bad—I totally missed that.😳

I’m starting electrolysis in about two weeks. When can I actually tell if it worked? Should I wait a month or two to see if any new hair shows up?

placidjackal97, did you really only go once?

Harold Gomez65, regarding the laser stuff—I know where they have those clinics in Miami and Washington, D.C... there's probably a salon in Seattle too, likely that one that's constantly running ads everywhere.😁

Yeah, you should pretty much see results within a month.

Hardly anyone just does one session—they explained to me that since hair doesn't all grow at once, the growth cycles are all over the place.

So if you notice hair appearing after the first round, it might not be the same hair coming back—it could just be the ones that were dormant finally surfacing.

The pros at the clinic will give you a much better breakdown of how it works.😉

That's why they usually suggest waiting a month and a half to two months before the next appointment.

Larry Cruz51—one session wasn't enough for me, but by the second time, the hair was barely there and super thin.

I mentioned in my first post that I haven’t worked in the US—but since you were still hunting for a phone number, I figured I'd just jump right over to you 😉
