The HPV strains our own immune systems can actually handle aren't even the ones that cause cervical cancer—they mostly just lead to genital warts. This vaccine isn't even meant for those types. I mean, wouldn't it be amazing if we could just cure cancer with an eight-hour sleep, some vitamins, and a good workout? But I guess that's not really an option for people whose wives, moms, or sisters are dealing with cervical cancer. Someone please just get rid of this idiot already.

"Stepped Out in the Rain Tonight" from the 1981 "street hero" album.

We’ve heard every excuse in the book for why an American movie sucks, but they all circle back to the same thing: "Well, this is just how we are, it's actually pretty good." Give me a break. I don't think we're a nation of idiots—not if I'm part of it—and I certainly don't find that excuse acceptable.
I mean, look, I’m not putting this movie on a pedestal or calling it some cinematic masterpiece, but after everything we've seen come out over the last 15 years, I actually thought this was pretty good. Like, really good. I laughed, the two hours flew by, and I really hope we get more movies like this made here in the States. Whatever, man, if a movie is fun to watch, it's a win in my book, and this one definitely was.

I don't really get why you're confused. Like, the part about them not being in touch... I just don't follow.

Kid's playing at a wedding for his pregnant ex—he just talked to her yesterday. Even the cop who was hassling him at the station yesterday is there, and nobody even knows who the bride and groom are. Right before they walk out, the band's just like, "Wait, who are we actually playing for?" "No clue, forgot to ask." It’s those ridiculous coincidences where Washington, D.C. looks like a ghost town with ten people living in it, all totally clueless. That’s just Kulenović's signature dramatic flair, the same stuff you see in Bitanga's work. It isn't a plot hole in the script; it's a plot hole in the writer's head.
He wasn't talking to the girl yesterday; he actually dumped her months ago, then showed up looking for cash. Meanwhile, she's getting caught up with an inspector because she's pregnant and trying to avoid any "scandal." If you piece it together, I guess everything actually makes sense.
And about that genre jumping people are complaining about, I don't really get why a comedy (or a drama, whatever) has to stick to one thing the whole time. I mean, we're just telling a story from our own backyard, and life is both funny and tragic. So, I think the movie is fine; I see a lot of my own life in it.
Compared to what Americans are usually used to watching, this is kind of a breath of fresh air. 👍

People really do swear that much; if they had cut any of it out, it would have felt completely fake. As for the humor... I found it hilarious. For the same reason. I was actually surprised by how much they 😁 knew about certain specifics.
The movie was excellent, in my opinion. 👍
Yeah, I'm with you. The swearing, the slang, the way people talk in Washington, D.C. every single day... nothing felt forced or fake at all.
Larry Martin11 said:...man 😵 just aimless wandering of the worst kind—the script is incredibly clunky (those dialogues? seriously? they try to lean on profanity to make everything feel "gritty" and authentic, but it just feels forced and hollow) and the acting is just mediocre. Honestly, I'm totally disappointed...
Okay, that's your take, I guess, though it honestly surprises me. Out of like ten people I know who saw it, everyone's been giving it really positive reviews. 😕
Just watched this movie! Honestly, such a huge, pleasant surprise. No cringey dialogue, great acting, just a solid story. Even though they labeled it a comedy (and there are plenty of laughs), it actually touches on some stuff we deal with all the time. I don't really feel like recapping the whole thing here, but I'd say go see it. Such a breath of fresh air! 👍
Olivia Martinez20, seriously, props to you for having the patience and guts to write all this out. Reading through this whole thread, I went from feeling super annoyed and pissed off to just finding some people here totally ridiculous. Now that I’ve reached the end, it actually feels kind of tragic, because it hit me that I’ll probably have kids one day, and they’re just going to be fed all this quasi-info and those "just say no" style campaigns that, honestly, I think just backfire. They’re so goofy it almost makes you want to light up a joint just out of spite, or at least to see what the big deal is. Maybe that stuff works on 4 or 5-year-olds, but once they hit school age, that approach is basically a lost cause.
I guess if I knock on wood, my periods are totally painless—and honestly, they always have been. If I didn't realize I’d finished my last birth control pill for the month, I probably wouldn't even notice it was that time. No bloating, no cramps, nothing. Maybe the only thing that changed since starting the pill is that the bleeding is way lighter and just doesn't last as long. Not trying to brag or anything, I promise, but someone mentioned earlier that there isn't a single woman out there who doesn't deal with period pain, and I just think that's not really true.
But, I totally get what you guys are going through because for a year, I was basically the designated roommate on standby with heating pads, hot water bottles, and Advil. My friend went to the ER twice in that one year because the pain was just that brutal. She could sense it coming a day early and would start taking painkillers immediately, because if the cramps actually hit, she couldn't even keep a pill down without throwing up. I ended up driving her to the emergency room just so she could get a shot for the pain. Those two times, she had to stay home, take sick days, and just lie motionless in a dark room with warm compresses. Her gynecologist didn't find any underlying issues or disorders, so the doctor didn't really offer any solutions besides more painkillers.
I’ve basically been an exclusive No Limit shopper for a few years now. After a total nightmare trying to find decent jeans, I stumbled upon their shop over in Importane, and I think I have five pairs of theirs now. Plus, what really made my day was seeing they're actually Made in America. 🙂
It’s honestly wild how little people actually know about this stuff. I mean, if you've never dealt with HPV, maybe you just don't care, but even none had it and still doesn't get some of the basics.
YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET RID OF HPV!!! But the thing is, there isn't really a specific "cure" drug—it's more like your own body has to clear it out, though you can totally catch it again later. The meds and treatments out there are mostly just for dealing with the aftermath. Like, things like interferon therapy or liquid nitrogen treatments are used to get rid of warts caused by certain strains. Those warts come from the less dangerous types, but the real scary part is the strain linked to cervical cancer. You could carry HPV for years without a gynecologist even noticing, because a standard Pap smear doesn't actually detect the virus itself unless it starts causing issues. Usually, it’s just a matter of your immune system dipping, which lets the virus flare up, and that's when a Pap test finally flags something.
As for gynecologists... I guess you could say they're like tailors, dentists, or pretty much any other profession. Just because someone is working doesn't mean they're doing a good job, so you're honestly lucky if you hit the jackpot with a good one on your first try. If they aren't meeting your needs at all, just switch. I personally went through four different gynecologists before I found a good one, and I've stuck with them for the last six years.
