Then there's this post by Bailiff—I reported it myself, but the mods just ignored me:
I also flagged this one from Felixx, where he doubles down on women being "intellectually and fundamentally inferior"—same result, obviously: 🙄,
There’s an endless stream of stuff like this in this thread—mostly from Bailiff, but others too. I’ve stopped reporting them since, frankly, it feels like a waste of time.
I have read through every single one of those linked posts, and frankly, I cannot fathom why you think they deserve any kind of sanction. These people expressed their views on gender relations and feminism quite politely, cultured, and without resorting to ad hominem attacks. They are entitled to their opinions, are they not?
The fact that their perspective offends you personally isn't anyone else's problem—it's yours alone. You are on a public forum. If you can't handle the reality that there are people here who don't share your worldview, then you’ve completely misunderstood how this medium works.
Do you think they're wrong? Then challenge them. Dismantle their logic with actual counterarguments instead of just throwing a tantrum. It’s simple... and quite un-feminist of you. 😉
American Express is being delivered straight to my house. I'm not sure what the exact ETA is, so give them a call and double-check. As for the other cards, they’ll be sent to the local branch, but you'll need to wait for the PIN to arrive at your home address first.
I honestly cannot wrap my head around how the administration allows this kind of behavior to persist; the rules are perfectly clear—you report a post if you find it offensive, and if there isn't a response within 24 hours, then people start whining on the national news.
To pick up the package, you’ll need to provide official proof of enrollment from your university or just show your student ID. If you're looking to buy on an installment plan using American Express, you don't need the cash upfront, but you'll need enough in your checking account to cover those monthly payments when they hit. It doesn't have to be there beforehand, but it needs to be there on the actual due date. Just keep in mind that American Express will pull from your approved overdraft $333 if things happen to get tight and you find yourself short on funds.
I don't usually weigh in on the pet threads, but I simply cannot let this slide. I know exactly what "scum" means, both literally and figuratively, and I fail to see even a shred of wit in this pathetic attempt to rename the topic—whether you use emojis or not.
If you had titled it "Pets and Other Creatures" or "Pets and Small Animals," fine. But calling them scum? Really?
Total facepalm moment. Honestly, I'm hitting my head against the wall here, though I can't even use emojis thanks to this clunky mobile app. The developers are completely clueless.
When it comes to installment plans, the list they provide on the JPMorgan Chase website is pretty outdated. Honestly, there's bound to be plenty of major retailers out there that don't even offer financing. You really need to double-check at the register before you commit to see if they allow installments and what their terms are—whether it's 3 months or up to 12.
@ velvetangler - just stay quiet while nobody's asking you anything 🙂 The package remains valid until you turn 28 or finish your degree, but if they don't demand proof of full-time enrollment, don't go making a scene by announcing you're part-time. Your American Express is good through the end of 2015, and they'll automatically mail a new card before the current one expires.
@rapidskipper12 - look, just call the toll-free number and file a formal complaint so we can actually get some clarity. All we're doing here is guessing.
@boky - Tell them you aren't interested in the bundle, just the checking account. Bring in some official verification from your registrar to prove you're a student so they can apply that student status. And honestly, don't go telling people to lie before you actually jump in and look at the actual paperwork—especially regarding the fees
@lukinjo - There isn't a monthly fee for checking when you're on the student plan. I believe the entire package is just $1.75. Plus, if you just have a standalone student checking account without any extra bundle, you aren't paying a dime
Interest is calculated on a daily basis based on the closing balance of your account, and then they settle up and charge you on the very last day of the month.
@Patrick Anderson3 - Listen, a decent tailor can fix just about anything. You could actually tuck some fabric between the seams on the upper part of those jeans. If you’re wearing shirts untucked so that the patch isn't visible, you'll be fine.
Sarah Hernandez3 said:When it comes to clothes—especially jeans—comfort is my absolute priority. I’m almost always in denim, though usually in a straight leg, something more relaxed or maybe a slight flare; honestly, I’ve never even attempted skinny jeans. Right now, my go-to pair is some DKNY denim I picked up while traveling in the States—they are incredibly comfortable and high quality, and I've been wearing them constantly for over two years. Compared to these, my old jeans from an American department store feel totally unwearable; they're just too uncomfortable to stand.
I know skinny jeans are huge right now, and I get the impression that nearly every girl here in the city is wearing them, but I’ve never really cared about following trends. For me, it’s always been about what I actually like and how it feels to wear it. That said, I am thinking about finally trying a pair of skinnies just for a change of pace. Does anyone have recommendations for a pair that is actually soft and comfortable? I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be able to tolerate them, but I want to give it a shot—mostly because I really want a cool pair I can tuck into boots. Since mine aren't slim enough, they bunch up at the bottom, which looks messy—and since I'm on the shorter side, it just looks awkward. They don't need to be designer or break the bank, obviously, but I don't want bottom-of-the-barrel quality either. I'd rather not spend a fortune since I'm still undecided on whether I'll actually stick with them.
Anyway, I'm looking for advice because I haven't bought jeans locally in about two years. I have a stash of denim from the US that is sturdy, super comfy, and high quality (I actually just got another new pair of DKNYs recently—honestly, nothing beats them 😁), but none of them are tight. And frankly, the last thing I want to do is wander through ten different stores trying things on; I have a feeling I’d give up after the second failed attempt—shopping isn't exactly my favorite pastime.
This thread is pretty old, but I figured someone might still be looking for advice. About a month and a half ago, I picked up some skinny jeans on sale at Nordstrom just so I’d finally have something that works with boots. Usually, I stick to straight leg or a slight flare, but since these were such a steal—I can't remember the exact price, but I think they were around $67—I grabbed them even though the color wasn't quite what I had in mind.
Honestly, these things are soft as silk; they don't stretch out too much, the waist sits low without being dangerously low, and they are so incredibly comfy that I end up wearing them around the house like sweatpants. I'm beyond satisfied. 😍
I ran into the exact same issue on one mobile device, even though it was working perfectly fine on another. Since I couldn't get in, I just wiped the site from my search history and tried searching for it by name instead. Two different versions popped up in the results: one labeled Reddit and another one that said Powered by Discourse. Well, that second one is completely broken. Make sure you select Reddit.
If you signed up for that specific Index bundle, then yeah, having an American Express card is basically a requirement. But there’s actually another way to handle this: you can just open a standard student checking account, which means you won't be hit with those monthly maintenance fees. Since opening and maintaining a basic account is free for everyone—whether you have a bundle or not—I suspect you don't actually have a package at all, just a regular account. If you're dead set on getting a full service package, you’ll have to head down to a local branch to sign the paperwork. You'd need to officially opt into the bundle and fill out the forms for Chase Rewards and/or Chase Mobile since those are included. Just keep in mind that if you go that route, you'll be looking at a cost of $1.75 per month.
@Elizabeth King31 You absolutely need an American Express if you want that specific package. Perhaps you signed some fine print and completely lost your bearings? Besides, that student American Express isn't even set up for online transactions, so I highly doubt you'll be able to use it for any money transfers. Still, check directly with American Express to be sure.
Personally, I found this one quite compelling. A single room, eight people, and a gritty psychological study into just how far individuals will push themselves to chase their wildest dreams.
