Dear moderators,
It’s honestly wild how several threads regarding feminism—currently active over in Politics (specifically those regarding "feminist protection of domestic abusers" and various "feminism" discussions)—are completely ignoring blatant sexism, misogyny, and direct violations of the Constitution and federal laws, not to mention international standards. A few users (the original poster, along with felix, bongo, and others, plus the thread starter) are basically just insulting women and their capabilities in general—spreading outright lies about female intelligence and skill as if they were "facts," despite having zero evidence to back any of it up. It's baffling that the mods aren't stepping in, especially since these posts have already been reported.
Does this mean the owners of this forum also endorse the misogyny, sexism, and falsehoods being directed at women?
I’m looking for an official statement from the administration here—this isn't just a breach of forum rules, it’s a violation of the Constitution and the laws of the USA, as well as the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

Which specific parts of the Constitution are we talking about here, and what exactly is being violated by those clauses?
and the laws of the USA,

Which laws specifically? Which sections within those laws? What part of them is actually breaking the rules?
as well as international conventions against discrimination against women (UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women).

Which conventions? Which exact points from those conventions are being crossed, and how exactly does that happen?

Or are you just expecting everyone to go out and do their own homework once you decide to drop your big ideas on us?

Lately, there have been so many threads about feminism (where, naturally, feminism is seen as the root of all evil🤣) that it’s almost unbelievable.

Maybe the mods over in Politics are on vacation, since there hasn't been much deleting lately.

But not long ago, there was that 'militant feminism' thread where the mods basically carried out a massacre. The way they were deleting and banning people on that topic... it just didn't make sense.
For instance, if you look at the posts by varzo, you might wonder what could possibly warrant a ban. Then look at the replies sent to him (which weren't banned), and I guess it becomes pretty clear.
His only "sin" was probably siding with the feminists.

Right now, there are several threads about feminism scattered across different PDFs—including this one.
And it’s always the same group telling the same stories.
As usual, chauvinists don't realize they're being chauvinists.
They don't even grasp that their statements are sexist.
But I suppose the moderators should be smarter than that, right?

Generally speaking, there's just a massive amount of misinformation regarding feminism, a pile of prejudices, and total misunderstanding. Not just from men, but from some women too.
It would take a hundred years to correct them and explain things.
I don't really have the energy to guide them toward the truth like they're little kids.

It’s exhausting how much they don't get, and how much they refuse to understand.

In my book, there are actually quite a few people who truly don't get it—including the mods. I used to think they were just enabling it, but now I'm starting to doubt that—which makes things a lot less trivial and a whole lot messier.

Generally speaking, there's just a massive amount of misinformation about feminism out there—nothing but stereotypes and pure misunderstanding. And it isn't just men; some women are just as lost.
We could spend a century trying to correct them and explain things.
But frankly, I don't have the energy to play teacher to grown adults.
It’s exhausting how little they understand—and how much they refuse to learn.

Women live in the same society too, after all, and they're socialized by the same people spreading this misogyny. It's nothing surprising, unfortunately. As for explaining or "correcting" everyone—I fear that's just asking too much from this crowd. That's why I've mostly stopped trying. It's such a shame the old archives vanished when this site launched; I used to write so much educational stuff about feminism back then, and there were people here who actually knew what they were talking about compared to today. I just hope the younger generations can get better education on this through more structured systems.

The Constitution: Articles 3 and 14

The Equal Rights Amendment—specifically the sections regarding direct discrimination and inciting discrimination, which is happening right here on this forum, covering Articles 5 through 9:

"Article 5.
Gender equality means that women and men are equally present in all areas of public and private life, holding equal status, having equal opportunities to exercise all rights, and enjoying equal benefits from achieved results.
Article 6.
(1) Gender discrimination (hereafter: discrimination) refers to any distinction, exclusion, or limitation based on sex that results in undermining or preventing the recognition, enjoyment, or use of human rights and fundamental freedoms in political, economic, social, cultural, civil, or other spheres based on the equality of men and women, including educational, economic, social, cultural, civil, and every other area of life.
(2) Discrimination based on marital or family status is prohibited. Treating women less favorably due to pregnancy or motherhood is considered discrimination.
(3) Discrimination based on sexual orientation is prohibited.
(4) Discrimination regarding the ability to obtain or acquire goods, as well as discrimination in the provision of and access to services, is prohibited.
(5) Inciting another person to discriminate is considered discrimination under this Law if done with intent.
Article 7.
(1) Direct discrimination is any action conditioned on sex that places a person—or could place them—in an unfavorable position compared to another person in a comparable situation.
(2) Indirect discrimination exists when a neutral legal norm, criterion, or practice places persons of one sex in an unfavorable position relative to persons of the opposite sex, unless that legal norm, criterion, or practice is objectively justified by a legitimate aim, and the means used to achieve that aim are appropriate and necessary.
Article 8.
(1) Harassment and sexual harassment constitute discrimination under this Law.
(2) Harassment is any unwanted behavior conditioned on a person's sex that aims to, or actually results in, violating personal dignity and creating an uncomfortable, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.
(3) Sexual harassment is any unwanted verbal, non-verbal, or physical behavior of a sexual nature that aims to, or results in, violating personal dignity, particularly if it creates an uncomfortable, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.

There's also a whole series of violations regarding the Civil Rights Act, which similarly defines direct and indirect discrimination, inciting discrimination, and its scope of application, such as a public medium like this forum.

And here’s a link to the international UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, which the US has also signed—so feel free to read up:

http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/cedaw/cedaw.htm

Or—and stay with me here—are you just expecting everyone to magically do their own homework once you've finished announcing your latest theories?

For those out of the loop: these aren't exactly "my ideas."🙄 I just expect anyone working for a major US news outlet to actually know—and follow—the laws of the country they're reporting on. Honestly, that’s what the relevant authorities expect, too.

Why on earth don't you just report all of this to the police, get a subpoena for those IP addresses, and watch the people breaking the law and the Constitution end up behind bars?🤷

Or are you just afraid that the people actually in charge will laugh at the whole thing, just like I am right now?

If things like this were actually taken seriously, pretty much every online forum would be wiped out in a scorched-earth kind of way.

Okay, look, I’m not done reading or asking questions yet, because this isn't the whole story. You can't just run a legal system based on one single piece of legislation, so I'm wondering where—and how—freedom of speech in the US fits into this messy picture. Like, what kind of views are people actually allowed to hold when they happen to disagree with feminism, and what are the boundaries for what they can and can't say? What level of freedom of speech do we even have in America? And if you actually know your way around the law, what does the actual legal practice look like regarding those fine, subtle lines you aren't supposed to cross?

It really worries me that the law includes stuff this vague and murky,
(2) Harassment is any unwelcome behavior conditioned on a person's sex, which aims to or actually results in an injury to personal dignity and creates an uncomfortable, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.
(3) Sexual harassment is any unwelcome verbal, non-verbal, or physical behavior of a sexual nature that aims to or represents an injury to personal dignity, especially if it creates an uncomfortable, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.

because that kind of language can be interpreted however anyone wants it to be.

We’ve got, for example, Muslims who face all sorts of discomfort, hostility, and degradation just for criticizing Islam and Muhammad, even when that criticism is totally justified, and why shouldn't there be people who, for whatever reasons—justified or not—disagree with certain aspects of Islam or its followers? Why would there be freedom of speech regarding religious matters, but not regarding feminism?

And people also criticized SOPA; folks pushed back against recent attempts to implement SOPA, which contains provisions that are also incredibly general and fuzzy, allowing people to be accused of just about anything. I mean, if I don't want some internet law because of its ambiguity, why on earth would I agree to a gender equality law that is just as vague?
For those out of the loop: this isn't about "my ideas."🙄 I expect anyone working at a public portal to know and respect the laws of the country or countries involved, and that's what the relevant authorities expect too when it comes to these matters.

This is just unrealistic, and if the government hasn't explicitly laid out exactly what skills moderators on private forums need to have, then the expectations you're trying to impose on them are legally, capitalistically, and personally irrelevant.

Can you send over the links to those specific posts? Only the Politics mods can see which ones were actually flagged. We can't really do anything based on guesswork. Also, keep in mind it's vacation season, so the mod team is moving a little slower than usual.

It’s totally possible that some misogyny and chauvinism just goes completely unpunished around here on this forum.

But look, there's always two sides to every story. You've gotta consider that when certain arguments come up—say, in the form of... Just saw this study coming out of the psychology department over at California State. Really interesting stuff!Look, if you want to push back against a study like that, you’ve got to actually do the work! Challenge the methodology. Tear apart the data. Use actual arguments to question how they even reached their conclusions. You can't just go around throwing shade at California State University and calling it a day. That's not how this works! Total misogyny on this site. Seriously.

Sometimes you’ll be right in the middle of a solid debate—laying out perfectly legitimate points—and some opponent will just dodge everything you said. Instead of actually addressing your arguments, they’ll just brush you off with a cheap shot, calling your logic "militant feminism." It’s such a lazy way to shut down a conversation!
That’s honestly not a great way to handle a discussion about serious topics.
Just my two cents!

Not everything is exactly what the FBI wants.

That kind of terminology is pretty much off-limits now.
Not everything falls under the FBI's jurisdiction.

No.
I guess even the police aren't the only ones who can label things.
There are all those various associations, organizations, and media outlets too.

It was the same deal with religion.
An article once popped up about how believers were treated on a major US forum.
You might dismiss a specific news outlet, but if it hits one mainstream source, it eventually finds its way to another.

Where exactly is that banned, and what kind of penalties are we talking about?
By the way, it’d be pretty great if people noticed I didn't even use that term! I was just using it for a hypothetical scenario.

So, newspapers run by believers (and pedophiles) are complaining about being called believers and pedophiles? I’m sure that’ll change everything on this forum. If you don't want people calling you a pedophile, maybe stop messing with children.
It’s the same logic: if you don't want to be called a feminazi, don't complain about women being degraded and men being insulted in the same breath.

Maybe there’s some feminist publication out there where you can write a pathetic little op-ed about how people treat you. If it worked for the church, maybe it’ll work for you. Then you can just swap articles with each other and watch the chaos unfold.

I was just reading in the New York Post that a whole group of people actually got hauled off by the cops because they used that word.
