Don't forget that Felipe Massa lost out on the entire Free Practice 2 session, which was probably their best shot at getting some decent data on how those tires would hold up during the race.
It’s a real shame Valtteri Bottas wasn't out there either; it would have turned into a proper two-on-two battle.

And there you have it—the reason why Massinog opted for that early pit stop...
Essentially, Williams might just need to rethink their tire strategy; things are going to get really interesting in the upcoming races...

Felipe Massa was running slower than Sebastian Vettel, so the plan was definitely to pit before him. The idea was to jump on those fresh tires, clock a decent lap time, and hopefully hold the position ahead of him. Unfortunately, Massa couldn't quite pull it off—he wasn't able to clear Ricciard, which ultimately cost him the podium. At least, that's the condensed version of how James Vowles explained it:
We decided to pit early because Vettel was gaining on us, but sadly, the move didn't yield the results we were looking for.
It’s still looking pretty uncertain whether Valtteri Bottas will actually line up for tomorrow's race due to those back issues:

Claire Williams couldn't say for sure if he'd be fit enough to compete tomorrow

They were mentioning on Sky Sports that he's leaving because Ross Brawn is coming back, though I’m honestly pretty skeptical about that one...

Not before some Italian executive currently working over at Philip Morris shows up first.

I’m honestly curious when your emails are finally going to make it into the headlines at The Evening News🤣
and who knows, maybe they'll end up on someone else's desk too, not just the reporters🍿

Is tomorrow also the last race where Mattia Mattia will be sitting in Ferrari's pit box?

Please, don't go throwing Mansell's name around for nothing, and definitely don't try to drag him down to Hamilton's level.

Huge congrats to Daniel Ricciardo on such a flawless race. He was absolutely spot on today.
Looks like Valtteri Bottas just proved once again who’s actually running the show when it comes to the finances right now.
You can really see that classic Finnish spirit on the podium.
First, they take a big sip of champagne themselves, and only then do they share it with everyone else.

Look, when someone gets tossed a foot in the air during the heat of battle 🤣, you can't exactly call it "weak tea." Let's not be too hard on them—maybe just chalk it up to some fiery Latin temperament.

That's exactly why we watch Formula 1—for moments just like these.

Well, if that helps you sleep at night.
You can tell yourself you were watching that thrilling battle between Pastor Maldonado, Ricardo Zonta, Adrian Sutil, and Vergne with total excitement yesterday.

He can struggle so much that by the time you've even finished saying "cookies," his performance has already fallen apart. I have no idea what kind of deal he's signed with Williams, but wouldn't it be so much better if they brought in some fresh blood like Bottas? These younger drivers seem to handle these new cars way better than the veterans. It’s pretty obvious that the cars have changed so much that being an "old pro" doesn't give them any advantage over experience, whereas the new guys clearly show more hunger—which is only natural...

They have a test driver, plus another guy, Ricardo Zonta. I suppose he'll be the one stepping into Massa's shoes.
Right now, Williams probably has a bigger headache figuring out how to extend Bottas's contract. Personally, I think a Bottas-Zonta combo would be a great lineup for, say, 2016.
It’s honestly such a blast watching everyone lose their minds over the
battle for 5th or 6th place. If you actually get why that matters, then you're on my level—there’s a genuine sense of joy
when the driver or the team you’re rooting for manages to snag one of those middle spots. That’s basically how I’ve felt about the sport for the last decade or so.
I was especially happy today seeing just how gentle Williams was being with their tires.
Back when we were in Austria, tire degradation was our biggest headache, but today it was barely even an issue. It just goes to show that the crew knows
exactly which direction to take the car's development, and clearly, all that hard work is paying off.
Finac really showed everyone how it’s done when you've got a faster car under you.
He pulled it all off in just a few laps, looking completely effortless without needing a single word of instruction from the pit wall.
We managed to clear Force India, so now the target is Ferrari. Bottas went right past both Hulkenberg and Vettel.
It’s a shame for Massa, though; he could have walked away with some solid points today.

I didn't really test things out much before jumping in today, so I'm not entirely sure if you were actually referring to the English or the Scottish women.
🤷

Is the crew giving him a hard time in the paddock because of it? 😁

Honestly, you don't need a PhD in genetics to figure out where that drive to pose for photos—and make sure there's a healthy paycheck involved—comes from.

I can't help but wonder what Alonso would have done if he were sitting in that Williams seat today.
He’d probably be lapping the field right now.
Meanwhile, Massa still hasn't quite grasped the concept of not being the number two driver—he needs to realize he’s actually allowed to overtake someone
if he's faster, specifically by making a clean move rather than playing it reckless and slamming into other drivers like a maniac.
It seems like Williams finally moved on from Maldonado just to end up with another driver who drives like a total kamikaze.

They can keep upgrading all they want, but at this rate, it looks like they just grab a screwdriver and give it a quarter-turn.
