I'm probably not using the right terminology. 😵 I tried digging through Google, but clearly my search terms were off because I came up empty... 😢

Smoking ban in all public spaces in Health ·
John Perez85 said:Sure, absolutely, but we need laws that guarantee smokers have their own designated spaces. Someone mentioned an airport where they have specific zones with great ventilation—nobody gets poisoned, yet you can't say smokers are being discriminated against. Also, let the market decide which bars or restaurants are smoking, non-smoking, or mixed. Smoking should just die out naturally through educating the youth, rather than forcing it via legislation.

Why on earth would we need to "guarantee" smoking sections in cafes?
Should we also start guaranteeing smoking areas in doctor's offices, hair salons, buses, movie theaters, grocery stores, theaters, banks, and so on?

the ambassador said:well, even if they actually pass it, nothing changes.
And what happens then? I guess some "underground" dive bars where smoking is still allowed will pop up, and everyone will just crowd into those.

You really think people are going to flock to those places?🤣
Trust me, that law is already in effect where I live, and honestly, the hospitality industry is thriving—better than ever.👍

the ambassador said:if you're worried about getting cancer from secondhand smoke, I'll give you my lungs. then you wouldn't have anything to worry about.
btw, I was talking about health consequences for consumers.

If that's the case, daycare teachers might as well light up while they work with kids, since it's apparently totally safe.🙄

Scott Smith said:Those against the ban argue it won't actually improve national health; instead, it just gives people a platform to smugly lecture others on how to live. They claim bans just lead to more stigma and victimizing smokers, basically trying to make them feel guilty about their lifestyle choices. Opponents also expect bars to shut down and about 2,500 jobs to vanish. Most of all, they point out the hypocrisy of the government—condemning smoking publicly while still happily collecting cigarette taxes. A truly consistent approach would be to go all the way and ban tobacco entirely, or maybe even cars since exhaust fumes are bad for people and the atmosphere too. Critics say smokers will still pay massive taxes, just to be stigmatized in return.

Discuss.

That whole bit about closing cafes and losing jobs isn't true.
They used that exact same argument in Vancouver (Canada), and nothing happened.
Honestly, it’s just nicer to go to a cafe or a club without smelling like smoke or breathing it in.

Sarah Long said:Fine, but if I skip breakfast, I'll just be hungry by lunch, and then I'll eat.
If I skip dinner—say my last meal was lunch around 3 PM—and suddenly it's 9 PM, I'm still wide awake and starving. Going to bed with a growling stomach isn't exactly ideal. 😬

Super, and when you inevitably catch some bug, I guess you'll be wondering what caused it.😲

But damn if some hunger demon doesn't take over every single night.🤣

Wait, why settle for "minimal" when you could just eat normally the rest of the day???😕
Which body actually benefits from starving itself?
Unless, of course, your goal is to wreck your health and deal with osteoporosis by age 40.😲

I try to make it a habit, but it doesn't always 😁

Lately, I've been leaning toward fruit or maybe some seeded bread with honey 👍
Sweet breakfasts just seem better than savory ones, I guess 👍
The problem is, I often can't eat much in the morning, so I end up starving an hour or two before lunch. 😁

I’d love to train my body to handle a solid breakfast and then just eat minimally for the rest of the day. I think that's probably the healthiest way to go. 🙂

Wait, why exactly is eating almost nothing for the rest of the day considered healthy?😕
Digestive issues or something else? in Health ·
Dana Cruz3 said:I've dealt with it... I have IBS...

Well, you don't exactly pop a pill for that. It’s more about fixing your diet, since certain foods trigger it—usually stuff like coffee, sugar, alcohol, chocolate, or processed junk like potato chips. I guess it's different for everyone, though. You'd probably need to figure out your specific triggers.

Dana Cruz3 said:I’m completely out of options... I was looking at medications here in the US... doctors are available—they just charge an absolute fortune—but still... if it's for my health... I went ahead and ordered them. Once they arrive, who knows how it goes..

What kind of meds, for what?😕
So, you basically diagnosed yourself and decided on your own treatment plan?😲

Dana Cruz3 said:Basically, I've been dealing with diarrhea every single morning for over two weeks now...😢 and I’m at my wit's end... I've tried everything... nothing works...
do you guys have any advice? What do you think is happening to me??? And how can I make this stop...?😕
Just so you know, I don't eat anything after 10 PM, and I rarely have a heavy dinner—most nights I skip it entirely, depending on the day...
I have a stomach ulcer, and I'm just really sensitive... my digestion is incredibly slow... maybe that's the cause...???
p.s. lately, whenever I have to go somewhere new, or talk to someone I don't know well... I get hit with intense panic attacks, anxiety, and of course, the stomach issues and diarrhea...
The weird part is that it always hits in the morning—just a few hours after I get up—and then the rest of the day is fine...
And when I'm stressed, or annoyed, or even just excited...
I'm honestly losing my mind here—I don't know what to do!!! please help meeee😢

Look, lady, just relax, for heaven's sake...🙄 🙂
It’s pretty obvious all of this is psychological... you need to learn how not to be so sensitive and just find a way to chill out.
I'd suggest yoga or meditation. 👍
Jamie Clark74, give the guy a break. You've got a sense of humor somewhere in there, surely. Just take it as a joke. 👍 😬
Where is the moderator in this place?
Hey, moderators, delete this Kristic guy already. What kind of anarchy is this?😕

Where do you get off talking down to people like this? It's all you ever do.
Seriously, just tell us—what exactly is your profession?
Maybe I, or someone else here, might have a few "kind" words regarding your expertise... 😈

Susan Martin24, I’ve been following your posts on this forum for a while now. Based on what you write, I don't think you fall into that category of doctors Justin Fox keeps bashing. In fact, I'd say you seem like a great physician and a true humanitarian. 🙂

But look, try to see things from our perspective—the patients. Unfortunately, we tend to deal with negative experiences with doctors much more often than the good ones. 😢

I’d say two people actually knowledgeable about a topic swapping info and perspectives is a "normal conversation," not some heated debate. 😉

A "normal conversation"? With someone like you, who pops up on this forum under a brand-new username every single week???🙂

redcrane5 said:- Nobody said you need to calculate your daily calorie intake down to the exact decimal point. Just use one of those online charts and tweak it to fit what your body actually needs.

- I work from 7:30 to 5:00, hit the gym four times a week, and I'm out with my wife, kids, or friends almost every single day. Despite all that, I still stick to five high-quality meals and maybe one or two protein shakes a day. I guess everything just comes down to how you organize your life and what you're actually aiming for.

- As for the quality of the food I buy and eat? I’m not even going to get into it. I honestly have no idea what you're trying to prove with these links. Can you prove there isn't GMO soy or protein from some crazy cow in those shakes?

- From what I can tell, you sell these magic potions, so I get where you're coming from. I've seen plenty of ads promising the moon in a week or a month. It’s wild how naive some people are, thinking they can drop weight they've carried for years in just thirty days while sitting on the couch eating chips—and somehow stay healthy.

- My point is, there’s no magic potion. There's just a balanced diet, enough willpower to keep at it (since this is a long game), and working hard enough to actually break a sweat.

Look, redcrane5, don't even bother arguing. Just let it go. This Calimero guy is clearly an expert, a total MacGragor.
Justin Fox said:You say it just snaps—basically, whoever is unlucky enough just has their tissue tear. But 3rd and 4th-degree tears can happen during a medial episiotomy too, right? Do you actually have stats showing massage helps? Do you agree most people find relief from it? I guess I agree some need a cut, but certainly not everyone, and definitely not as a standard routine.

Check out this article:
http://www.efn.org/~djz/birth/obmyth/epis.html
Right at the start, it says: "There is no evidence . . . that routine episiotomy reduces the risk of severe perineal trauma, improves perineal healing, prevents fetal trauma or reduces the risk of urinary stress incontinence." Sleep, Roberts, and Chalmers 1989

Bromberg MH. Presumptive maternal benefits of routine episiotomy. J Nurse Midwifery 1986;31(3):121-127 says: "What little evidence exists in favor of episiotomy is over 60 years old and of poor methodology...some studies show an association between episiotomy and deep tears"

Look at this diagram for a 3rd-degree tear:
http://catalog.nucleusinc.com/enlarg...t.php?ID=10808
To me, it looks like a medial incision is just an invitation for a tear—like, if things are going to rip, the cut just makes them rip deeper.

Here’s a photo of a mediolateral incision in vivo. Does this look like a great idea to you?
http://www.sciencebasedbirth.com/Ima...2003/epis2.jpg
It looks like damage that’ll hurt for months, get infected, leave scars, maybe never fully heal, and maybe even cause pain during sex forever. It could make sitting painful, interfere with life and career... basically, a disaster.
Emotionally speaking: I’d honestly rather not have kids than let someone do that to a loved one. I wouldn't allow a doctor to make a cut like that without explicit consent from the patient.

Fine, then there's nothing left to do but deliver via C-section. ☕
