Breakfast ideas? in Health ·
I’ve been wondering whether breakfast is truly as essential as everyone claims. Would it be perfectly fine to skip it entirely and just focus on lunch and dinner? I am considering a bit of a dietary adjustment—essentially eating less by cutting out the morning meal—but I can't help but wonder if that might actually backfire. Or perhaps skipping lunch would be the better move? It seems like most diet plans you see in American health magazines always suggest cutting out dinner, but let’s be honest, that is usually the hardest part to stick to, isn't it?
Why do I have a fever? in Health ·
blueraven4 said:Has anyone ever dealt with a low-grade fever without any actual symptoms?
I mean, there's no headache, no runny nose, no cough—nothing hurts at all... yet my temperature sits consistently between 99°F and 99.5°F.
This has happened to me a few times before. I’ve gone through the whole routine—blood work, urinalysis, lung scans—everything comes back perfect, and then the fever just vanishes on its own.🙄
Today marks the third day of feeling wiped out. Aside from being incredibly sleepy, I feel fine, and frankly, I really don't have the energy to go through another round of medical testing.

A slightly elevated temperature is often an indicator of some sort of internal inflammation. If you’ve already cleared your blood work, urine tests, and everything else, and they show no signs of infection, then another possibility is simply having a higher baseline body temperature. Some people just run warmer naturally (for instance, my mom is always hovering around 98.6°F or slightly above). Perhaps you’re just built that way?

Lisa Moore7 said:My situation is fairly similar, actually. Whether I turn in at 11:00 PM or find myself heading to bed at 4:00 AM, my internal clock seems set to wake me up around 10:00 AM regardless. The only real difference is that if I take the late route, I’ll inevitably need a nap in the afternoon just to function; otherwise, the exhaustion hits me like a freight train.

I wish I had that kind of consistency... teach me your ways. 🤔 😬

Good grief, what a rigid schedule. 😲
I simply don't have the willpower or the discipline to pull that off; I lack both the stamina and the self-control required for such a regimen. 😳

P.S. I’ve stayed away from coffee for two days now—it’s helped slightly. 🙂

To broaden the scope of our discussion:

Do you know those people—or perhaps you are one of them—who can wake up naturally WITHOUT an alarm clock? How does one even achieve that? In my experience, if I wake up without an alarm, it’s usually after 10:00 AM, and even then, it’s a rare occurrence. I honestly can't recall the last time I went to bed without setting an alarm. If I go out on a Saturday night and hit the sack around 5:00 AM, I set the alarm for noon, because there's no point in sleeping through the entire day. If I turn in earlier, say around midnight, I still set an alarm for 10:00 AM if I'm free, or 7:00 or 8:00 AM if I have somewhere to be. Trying to function without an alarm clock feels like total madness. 😵

I don't think I ever manage to catch an afternoon nap...

But coffee 😵 how could I have overlooked that
though there is caffeine in tea, isn't there?

Thanks

However, I’m a bit confused by the suggestion regarding avoiding attempts to fall asleep.
If I lie down without the intention of sleeping and start overthinking things, I inevitably find myself tossing and turning because I just can't get comfortable, yet sleep remains elusive. It's a bit of a Catch-22.

I will attempt to incorporate daily exercise into my routine.🙂

- Are you actively "trying" to fall asleep? (which is actually counterproductive)
- Have you been dealing with any recent stressors?

Let me think... I’m a veteran insomniac myself, though I eventually managed to win that battle. 🙂

I’ve always struggled with a long sleep latency—I was never the type to drift off the second my head hits the pillow—but lately, it feels like it takes even longer than usual...

As for air, I should be fine, though maybe the room is running a bit too warm? It’s sitting at about 70 degrees.

My sleeping arrangement hasn't changed.

And yes, I am "trying" to sleep once I lie down; if I’m in bed, the intention is obviously to sleep, not to just lie there buzzing with restless energy. 🙂

I have had some stress, certainly, but that period has passed. I wouldn't say I'm currently "under stress."

No pressure intended, 🙄
but it feels a bit silly. I could just pace the room, sit at my computer, or watch TV... perhaps I should? Otherwise, I’m just wasting time lying wide awake or staring at the ceiling.

Well, it is exactly what the title suggests...
To put it plainly, I am struggling to find any semblance of rest at night, which means dragging myself out of bed in the morning feels like an uphill battle. It makes little difference whether I managed to get six hours or ten; the difficulty of waking up remains constant. I suppose I could just lean into it and label myself a "sleep enthusiast" to make it sound intentional, but the real frustration isn't even the fatigue—it’s the sheer inefficiency of my nights. I go to bed at midnight, yet I rarely drift off before 1:00 AM. I have tried everything: leaving the TV on, turning it off, listening to the radio, sitting in silence, daydreaming, trying to clear my mind, or even mentally rehearsing whatever I studied that day. Nothing works. I honestly cannot remember the last time I fell asleep without spending at least half an hour staring at the ceiling. I have never been a "fast sleeper," but a ten or fifteen-minute delay is manageable; an entire hour? In sixty minutes, one could accomplish much more productive things than tossing and turning aimlessly...
I am open to any advice or suggestions you might have, as this situation is becoming increasingly irritating. 😠

Can radiation patients return to work? in Health ·
Walter Garcia53 said:I suppose he’s implying people should give them a wide berth just to avoid any accidental radiation exposure.

Are you serious??
By that logic, if someone is undergoing chemotherapy, should everyone else be walking in a massive circle around them just to stay safe from radiation? 😕

I am truly sorry to hear that.

It would be best to consult with her physician and present this article directly to them.

I’m honestly struggling to wrap my head around the question here... 😕
I mean, how exactly does radiation impact a person beyond things like suppressing the immune system or causing hair loss? It isn't like someone is going to spontaneously combust just because they're standing next to a boiling pot on the stove, right? 😕 😕

I felt a lump—any advice? in Health ·
Lisa Adams said:...and further down there.
Down there.

I plan on seeing my gynecologist so I don't have to rely on your advice 😁, which is perfectly reasonable, but I can't get to an appointment right this second because I'm currently in the middle of a swim meet.😁

To be clear, this isn't a pimple. There is no pus, it’s not an ingrown hair, and it isn't some kind of growth or protrusion; it’s simply a lump, a localized accumulation of tissue.
And it's tender to the touch.

It is located on the left side of the vaginal opening.🙂

😁

So, I am genuinely curious about what this might be.

Could it possibly be an infection of the Bartholin's gland? What are your thoughts?

Is it raised?
By that, I mean is it visibly prominent, or is it something you can only feel when touching it?

Looking for a solid private gynecologist in [City Name]--any recommendations?🙂
Also, I was wondering if there’s anything similar to a university health clinic here (like they have over at [University City])—basically a clinic specifically geared toward helping female students?

you really are my favorite person on this forum 😘
do you have an MP3 player or something?!?!
😢I've been searching for this track but I could only find that Oompa-Loompas song, and the problem is I honestly have no idea what this specific one is actually called.

I am absolutely thrilled 😍 (though I have never actually laid eyes on or read the book)
and I'm currently hunting down the soundtrack 😬

The film really hits all the right notes; visually, it’s stunning. Deep Roy is phenomenal—I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of his work generally, but those dialogues between him and the kids 🙏 were something else, and the squirrels are a whole different story altogether 🤣. Even the kids were impressive; they act so well, especially that little girl with the gum who carries herself like such a rebel, and that stout kid too—kudos to them. There's a genuine cinematic purpose here; it's packed with funny moments, and that Willy Wonka song is just 🙂

It’s possible you’re dealing with an allergy, and until you pinpoint the specific trigger and start avoiding it, that nasal congestion isn't going to clear up on its own.

I tend to reach for SeaWorld whenever I feel even the slightest hint of nasal congestion; I’ll stick with it as long as necessary until everything clears up.
My brother, on the other hand, relies on Ogilvy—if I recall the name correctly. He uses those drops, which come in either a standard dropper bottle or a spray format similar to SeaWorld, because the spray just doesn't seem to do the trick for him.
Have you considered trying steam inhalation?
