Woooohoooo! Looks like we get to start celebrating Christmas 2 months early this year!

But look, lonefox373, this is just a popcorn flick meant for entertainment, not some deep philosophical lecture! If you're overthinking it while you watch, that's kind of on you rather than the movie itself...😉
😬 It’s actually way more fun to tear such a film apart than it is to sit through it. Haha, anyway, I'm really looking forward to Van Helsing. I've got a good feeling about it...😬

Now, that... that's what I call actual film criticism. Short, sweet, and straight to the point.
What's the movie like? It sucks! Why? Just because! 😁
casualotter21 said:And why exactly is that a bad thing?
...that doesn't even have to be a bad thing. Honestly, maybe vampire Kate is just the physical embodiment of her director husband's wildest dreams. I mean, having an experienced woman by your side who’s centuries old but still looks incredible... she's this fierce, go-getter vampire, yet she's got that soft side where she gets all teary-eyed sometimes. She spends her time strutting around in tight leather outfits, surrounded by all these dark, moody types, but nobody's actually brave enough to make a move or try to get close to her. She seems delicate, almost fragile, until she pins someone against a wall with one hand... then you see what she's made of. She’s agile, playful, and loves scaling rooftops or leaping from windows down to the street. She drives a killer bike and always has a massive gun ready to go. I mean, who wouldn't want a spouse like that!
Her husband probably tells her once in a while: "Hey honey, put on that tight black bodysuit we grabbed from the Underworld set, and come drain the life out of me, my little vampire. Maybe after, I'll let you play with my heavy revolver."
Michael Douglas actually stumbled into the role in "Basic Instinct" quite by accident, stepping in right where lonefox373 was originally supposed to be.
Now that we’ve finally cracked the mystery of what car Kate is actually driving, all that's left is to figure out the setting and time period for this absolute mess of a movie. Using some relentless logic, I’ve come to the conclusion that the setting is Budapest—you can actually make out Michael's Budapest address on Kate's computer screen. And anyone who’s ever been there knows that every other Canadian seems to have an old Canadian name like Michael, and just like in the movie, everyone in Canada speaks nothing but English...
Pinning down the timeline is a bit trickier. Kate is driving a 2003 Maserati, the pieces from a vampire mansion are dressed up like courtesans from the previous century, the dangerous guys are wearing Gestapo-style leather coats, and then you have that cool Matrix vibe—denim jackets in the middle of the night, wielding high-tech weapons with fluorescent blue swords and silver nitrate bullets that were sent by Barrett himself. Kate has pistols that fire about 7 million rounds a minute (seriously, where does she keep the ammo?), yet at the station, they still have steam engines pulling the trains. It reminded me of that "distant planet" comic book where guys jump out of ultra-fast spaceships and then start brawling in the sand with spears and gladiator tridents or trying to slice each other with swords.
The war between vampires and werewolves has been going on in secret for centuries, and regular people don't even know about it. But how could they? You don't run into a single soul in the entire movie, except for those thugs in the subway. While Kate is racing through the city, there isn't a living soul in sight. A train pulls into the station—nobody's there. Every few minutes, there's automatic gunfire echoing in the streets, the sewers, or the buildings, but it doesn't catch anyone's attention except for two thugs who, lo and behold, are werewolves. I guess Americans just head straight to bed as soon as it gets dark and plug their ears, so they somehow missed a centuries-old war of extermination.
Oh, and I almost forgot—skinny Kate, the vampire who looks like a Trinity clone, shoots like Serious being, jumps off rooftops like Spider-Man, and drives like my wife, is the director's wife. Pffft!
casualotter21 said:Also, just because you’re a vampire doesn't mean you actually know how to drive. I mean, she practically steered that thing straight into the harbor. Women drivers... Honestly, even after 600 years of immortality, they still haven't mastered the art of manual shifting. Such a shame about the Jaguar.
Oh man, here we go... Anyone who has ever been exposed to the high-society vampire lifestyle knows that if someone actually has any class (and that includes Kate), they wouldn't be caught dead in a Jaguar. They'd be driving a Maserati 3200 GT.

Are those U.S. release dates or American ones?
And what on earth is this "Smallville" movie? 😁
"Smallville" is probably "The Village," that new one by M. Night Shyamalan (you know, Signs, Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense). As for the distributor, I'm over it...
Anyway, these look like American release dates, since movies like Van Helsing are already out in theaters here. Total Entertainment just put out their latest schedule for the States...
Starting May 12th, they're doing this every Wednesday...
It would be awesome if they actually released the movie lineup ahead of time. I just really hope we aren't stuck watching some Jean-Claude Van Damme garbage...
Sarah James4 said:So, I have a foreign currency debit card from JPMorgan Chase, and about two weeks ago, I got a notice from them.
The thing is, you're supposed to be able to use this card at ATMs all over the US and even abroad. I was under the impression that you couldn't withdraw more than what’s actually sitting in your account... plus, I definitely didn't sign up for any kind of overdraft protection.
But it turns out an ATM in some European country gave me about 100 euros, even though I don't actually have that money in my balance. Now the bank is breathing down my neck to pay it back.
Has anyone dealt with something like this before? What should I do? I haven't sent the money back yet...🙂
Here’s the big question—did you actually take that cash, or did the ATM just glitch and hand it to someone else while charging your account?
Honestly, screw a league where maybe 8,500 people show up to the stadiums (and apparently a few more watching on TV 😁), where the pitches look more like overgrown fields than actual grass, and where the referees are out there swearing at the players. It’s a mess where the federation president acts like a hero just because the "most Catholic club" took the title, while guys like Stimac and Mamich are actually calling the shots. It's a league where the rare bit of talent we produce doesn't even dream of heading to Real Madrid or Arsenal first, but instead jumps straight to Shakhtar or Ancona... I could go on like this all day, but you hit the nail on the head—I stopped giving a damn about this MLS garbage a long time ago.
As for bringing in international refs—that wouldn't change a thing even if we actually had the money to pay them. For instance, back in the day, someone like Collina was pulling in over 100 million lira a season, and he's probably making way more now. Even if we did bring in foreign officials, they'd probably only be around until they were swapped out for one of our own local "legends."
Henry Anderson47 said:It was on TV, over on CBS (I think it was their main channel), this Saturday, March 6th, around 10 PM.
😕 Was he actually on TV?
It’s honestly hilarious when some guy walks into a record store and asks if they have Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" as a gift for his daughter, only for Black to absolutely lose it on him... just snapping because he feels like his precious time is being wasted. He tells the guy he can go find that crap at a department store instead. And then he drops the kicker: "And how do you even know she'd want to listen to that? Is she in a coma or something?" 😁 😁 😁
Hmm... I'm not really sure if I've ever actually smoked while watching movies. Maybe during "Half Baked"😁 or was that a series?
I've always been more into sword fighting, jungle adventures, or space stuff—especially those meteor movies...
ruggedstag84 said:They just kicked *Roman Holiday*, *Kolya*, and *The Postman* off my list... What am I supposed to do? I just love those kinds of movies.😁
Ugh! My evil twin ruggedstag84 is messing with my account again. Shoot.
By the way, Noah Watson4, we could seriously go back and forth on your top 10 list...😉
Noah Watson4 said:Nice, really nice! 😉 I can see we're talking about some seriously respectable cinema here!
But one thing caught my eye since you mentioned Mulholland Drive...
Could you walk me through it? Please? I just couldn't wrap my head around how both women in the movie are actually the exact same person(!)? 😉
I mean, look at Monty Python's Life of Brian—how much of that is high art versus just being an immortal masterpiece of trolling? Either way, those are all movies I’d happily watch again in a heartbeat.
As for David Lynch, let's not beat a dead horse—there's already a dedicated thread on the forum for Mulholland Drive where you can find some killer breakdowns...
glupinickname said:Oh, you bet! Heck yeah! If I have to, I’ll personally corner Jackson and force him to adapt every single one of Tolkien's books just for the pure joy of watching hardcore Tolkien fans lose their minds... watching them scream and faceplant because the movies aren't 100% perfectly, absolutely, totally faithful to the source material, or because you don't need to know fluent Sindarin or some secret Dwarven handshake just to enjoy the show.
Maybe they'll start their own little terrorist cell called the S. N. O. group, wandering around in spandex and tiny little hats, killing people by making them laugh themselves to death when they see the costumes.
