Is moderation actually a sign of wisdom? in Spirituality ·
Ryan Wilson2 said:I just wanted to point out that truth tends to hide in the most unexpected places. I guess when a mind is saturated with enough facts, it can find all sorts of miracles hidden within ordinary, everyday sentences.😁

Exactly... I mean, isn't that basically what I was saying too?😁

The Book of Law , that tantric-magical text penned by the Prophet of the New Aeon (which, for the uninitiated, is Aleister Crowley). It was composed in Cairo back in 1904, supposedly dictated by an intelligence known as Aiwass.

The letter V stands for Typhon, Set, Satan, the Devil's hoof...

Alternating current is the brainchild of Nikola Tesla. Through gematria, TESLA transforms into AL-SET; where AL equals God, and Liber AL refers to The Book of Law, while SET is that ancient Egyptian deity one could debate about indefinitely. NIKO LA—well, I guess it's just a blatant allusion to "nobody," to nothingness... "nothing is where I am" (that's a quote from The Book of Law describing God, and so on), LA=AL... you get the idea. 😁

Hmmmm... I suppose it gets a bit terrifying when you read too many books. 😈

Hm, what does any of this have to do with moderation? Honestly, nothing... because in the quotes Gaudrath provides, I don't see any sense of moderation at all. Instead, it's just pure, concentrated action aimed at a single result, which seems totally incompatible with being moderate.

Since you're already on this roll, you might as well try to find a connection between any two random things on Earth just to leave us all feeling confused. Or maybe the whole point is to highlight one specific link, then laugh behind our backs while we struggle to make sense of it—because, frankly, what you wrote above doesn't actually matter for anything in this world, precisely because you can connect absolutely everything to everything else if you try hard enough.😁
Manifesting sickness? in Health ·
Every morning at 6:00 AM, I just can't bring myself to get out of bed. Honestly, the mere thought of facing my coworkers kills my motivation instantly... I’d much rather stay tucked under the covers, and... well, everything else—I just don't have the energy for any of it.
By the next day, I'm inevitably "sick." It always starts that same way—a sore throat, a runny nose, or suddenly running a fever.
Back when I was a junior in high school, I barely even showed up to class. Looking back, the worst part of all those "illnesses" was definitely the sinus infections; the rest were just your run-of-the-mill colds.
I really did feel sick, though. I felt weak, lethargic, and usually had a fever, but deep down, I think I was aware that I was subconsciously doing this to myself. My boyfriend at the time was doing the exact same thing, and we’d spend most of our days just glued to our phones together.
Does this happen to any of you, and how does it actually work psychologically?

God help me, I can't deal with this suspicious nonsense

Can I just sketch out my own version? 😁
You know that kitchen mixer you have sitting on the counter? The one that usually comes with three different speed settings? Let’s say we consider the third setting—the fastest one—as the peak level of intensity. If you just flip the switch to turn it on, the mixer stays exactly where it started. It doesn't just jump to top speed. I mean, technically, it was always capable of hitting that third gear from the very beginning, but only if you actually took the step to slide that switch all the way to the number three.
I guess the mixer could really use a third speed setting, and honestly, I’d love to have it. But there's just no way to force that switch into position, no matter how much I try to figure out a workaround. It's frustrating. 😁
If you’ve ever spent any real time baking, you probably already know that you don't just throw everything into the mixer at once. I mean, if you do, the whole thing usually just flies everywhere. It’s a mess. Usually, you start slow with a lower speed to get things incorporated, and then maybe—just maybe—you ramp it up depending on how the dough feels and what kind of ingredients you're working with. It's more about reading the texture than just following a timer.
But let’s be honest—none of that actually matters. At the end of the day, the mixer isn't what decides anything. 😁

Well said.

I can wrap my head around that. But some kind of—well, any kind of—end? No way.

hollowviper72 said:Well, I have one... but look, I know that trying to set any rigid definition for enlightenment just creates a barrier against reaching it. That's why I limit my own idea of enlightenment to nothing more than an "insight into the ultimate essence of all things."

They say enlightenment is a moment... after which the world stays the same... but I don't know, we change forever.

What do you mean, "ultimate"? Everything is constantly shifting, hollowviper72.

it happens to me quite often too 👍

I honestly think being self-aware and actually paying attention to the world around you matters a whole lot more than golf.

hm... maybe we haven't quite understood each other. Or maybe we actually agree more than I thought?
Still, I don't really grasp this idea of "passive seeking" you're talking about—this notion that one must search while remaining conscious of the Put. How could someone like a small-town girl from rural Nebraska be conscious of the Put? The only paths she knows are the one leading up to the vineyard and the one heading down to the fields.

I have this feeling that true insight usually finds the people who aren't even looking for it

hollowviper72 said:Actually, you've got it wrong. Siddhartha continued his search, but he did it by taking the middle path.

Correct me if I'm being totally off base here, but are you honestly suggesting that someone who hasn't even considered this whole quest—say, some guy named Steve who spends his entire life stuck in the loop of breakfast, commuting, work, lunch, reading the paper, sleeping, and repeating—that such a person can actually reach enlightenment? Isn't that just another extreme, just a different version of "not searching"? What does "just living" even mean to you? To me, living without ever asking a single question feels a bit like just... waiting for Godot.

hollowviper72, you’re missing the point entirely! People who spend their lives doing manual labor out in the fields are usually way healthier than people like you, me, or them, constantly hunting for "wisdom" and overthinking everything...
you can achieve enlightenment through fresh air and physical exertion just as easily as through deep contemplation. Just think about Narcissus and Chrysostom.

ravana said:Have you ever actually felt what it’s like to sit down for a massive meal after working hard outdoors all day? Or maybe just sinking into a steaming hot tub after an absolutely exhausting shift?

Look, I don't think that's an exaggeration. Now, if you were eating like that every single day without any fresh air or actual physical labor to back it up, then yeah, that would be overdoing it.

No, look, boundaries don't just suddenly reveal themselves the moment you stumble upon them. Human nature doesn't work like that. They show up when you actually push against them. Otherwise, you're just a pushover, always.

Plavva said:I don't believe in restraint.😁

I guess it isn't really about restraint at all, but rather self-discipline. That’s the only way a person actually overcomes their own impulses, which seems pretty necessary if you want to make any kind of progress, in any sense of the word.

I honestly don't get why spirituality always devolves into these constant petty arguments. It’s not even just that; it feels like everyone is just playing word games to sound deep. I mean, if you really think about it, maybe we shouldn't be talking about spirituality at all.

I only hang out with people who are actually searching; I spend my time studying various different techniques. I try to stay far away from those who claim they've already "found it." Honestly, I'm convinced they're just wrong.
But if you're specifically looking for something you can just believe in without questioning, then you're using a bad technique. In that case, I really don't know what to tell you.

The whole point isn't about reaching some final destination anyway; it's about the journey itself. I mean, I don't think there even is a "goal" in spiritual growth. Once you arrive somewhere, the journey stops, and to me, that sounds like a disaster for actual development. There shouldn't be any stopping point, because I guess any kind of stagnation is basically a failure.

to reach for the star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far
I find myself humming those lyrics

Finally, 👍I'm

Belonging, Appearance, Sacrifice? in Spirituality ·
Everyone keeps harping on about how everyone nowadays is just playing a part, wearing masks, and pretending to be someone they aren't.
To me, it feels like most people today can't even begin to grasp what a human being actually is, or what we ought to be. I guess it’s all thanks to those endless—and if you ask me, totally shallow—"spiritual lessons" that get shoved down our throats everywhere we turn. It's like pouring vinegar over a pepper until it turns sour. I’m sure some genius will chime in and point out how delicious that sour pepper is now... whatever.
