When you come down with a fever at work... in Health ·
Kenneth Hernandez67 said:swiftowl10, quit whining and just get to work—stay quiet, drink whatever medicine is out there, and just rest when you finally get home. You haven't even been on the job for a full month and you're already complaining about a virus...🙄

Yeah, pretty much. It doesn't exactly leave a great impression when you're already calling in sick during your first month on the job...😉

I didn't say every single student is lazy—just that some definitely are. Not that they aren't hitting the books, mind you, but they just don't touch sports. At all. I’m not sure what your major is, but most college programs here don't mandate physical education as a requirement—maybe there's some two-hour session on a Saturday morning that everyone conveniently skips because, well, nobody wants to be stuck on campus during the weekend when they could be heading home... Sport is supposed to make you feel good; if you can't even drag yourself out of bed by 11:00 AM after a workout, then you're either overdoing it or you've picked the wrong activity.

Now that you've had a moment to think about it—if you've been drinking the exact same amount of coffee every single day for five years, wouldn't that eventually affect how much it actually wakes you up in the morning?

Try going a full week without any coffee at all. You'll find your own answer to that question pretty quickly...
Betty Rivera14 said:It’s because of the salt content...😉 believe it or not, even mineral salt is still just salt. It's just extra sodium for anyone already struggling to manage high blood pressure.

Right, well—I hadn't considered that angle. Thanks for pointing it out.
allegra said:And Betty Rivera14 made a solid point too—cutting out the sparkling water, obviously... 👍

But why cut out the mineral water?

and never skip breakfast).

Exactly.

Megan Morales5, I've just always been used to it—it works for me...

Neither Volvic nor coffee actually wakes me up. A walk with the dog at 6:30 AM is what does the trick.😁

From what I gathered—if I'm following that other thread about the tsunami correctly—you don't eat anything until noon.😉 So, that comment wasn't even directed at you...

By the way, fruit is best eaten in the morning on an empty stomach—better vitamin absorption that way.
I've always been against heavy breakfasts... I usually just use that window before lunch to detox a bit—lots of water, some fruit...

You wouldn't start a car without gas, yet people do it to their bodies all the time 😕 placidfalcon has a solid recipe for waking up 👍

nimbledriver81 said:Look, people get plastic surgery in hospitals too—that doesn't exactly make it a medical necessity...

Exactly. Plus, doctors will push just about anything if they know there's a market for it... 😉 It’s all just hype designed to manufacture demand—first they spread some rumor that it’s "healthy," then they just sit back and wait for the naive ones to show up with their wallets open.

Yeah... I mean, I don't know what kind of nonsense they're trying to peddle now. Honestly, ladies, get real. You'd be better off spending the whole day getting a professional massage instead of chasing that "love" from someone's hands—your body would probably flush out more waste that way...

He doesn't move much and he doesn't make plans—what can you do, he's as stubborn as... well, I shouldn't say it, since he'll probably be reading this.
So, feel free to speak your minds. Give him some actual solid advice—because if he won't listen to me, maybe he'll listen to😉

Melissa Cruz2 said:I used to be an early morning runner, but lately, I’ve switched to longer evening sessions—makes planning my day a lot easier. My biggest issue was the heat; I couldn't cool down for ages, which meant having to shower multiple times before heading into work.
but honestly, there's nothing quite like grabbing some fruit and a coffee after a run...🙏

Fruit and coffee together? Gross. Also, don't sprint through the final stretch of your route—just walk briskly for the last ten minutes instead. That's the standard advice for winding down a workout, anyway... plus, it helps you cool off faster.

I don't even need to eat; I don't feel any hunger until around 10 or 11 AM.

That sounds pretty unhealthy to me—and if you're already wide awake like you say, why are you even drinking coffee?

Regarding Buchinger (the doctor)—Carl Lee4 brought him up in the very first post. I'm curious, though... which foreign languages are you actually reading? How would you even go about putting together a list like that?

placidgardener19 said:During the spring and summer, I usually go for a run before heading into work.
It probably sounds 😱, but the whole point is just blindly grabbing my gear—leggings and a sweatshirt tossed by the bed, glasses if I need them—and bolting out the door. Just three laps around the block; the duration doesn't really matter.
Afterward, you feel like you're riding on pure adrenaline...

Plus, I wake up feeling incredibly refreshed once the sunny days hit—no alarm needed (assuming I actually managed to get my seven hours, of course).

That doesn't sound like a nightmare at all—honestly, that’s exactly how I handle things too. Everything mentioned above applies to me as well.

Noah Harris50 said:If my phone wakes me up in the morning—regardless of how much sleep I actually got—believe me, I have absolutely no clue who I was talking to or what we were even discussing.

It’s like there’s this weird limbo state for me... somewhere between being awake and still dreaming.

Then, maybe two or three times a year, for no reason at all, I’ll just wake up feeling completely refreshed. It’s such an incredible feeling when it happens.😁

Take a look at this maybe a sundial like this would work for you...

It's a strange phenomenon...

Around here, we'd just say they have "iron nerves." Nothing can rattle them. Not even their own thoughts...🙂

Taylor Swift said:I told you I was heading to lectures. Basically, my entire workday consists of sitting through classes from 8 until 2, sometimes 3.

I honestly think people who don't have jobs—people who do nothing all day—can still feel exhausted and be sharp in the morning. It doesn't always boil down to whether you worked yourself to the bone or not...
Falling asleep naturally, feeling relaxed, isn't the same thing as passing out because you're physically spent after grinding all day.

And my issue isn't really about falling asleep; it’s more about how to actually clear the fog as quickly as possible in the morning. If you've missed a beat somewhere 🙂

Okay, I overlooked the lecture part, my bad. It sounds like you're stuck in this loop—you can't fall asleep at night, so you end up crashing late, then you aren't getting enough sleep in the morning, and so on. If we rule out the psychological factors—which matter, obviously; things like depression play a huge role—and if we rule out blood pressure, what you're left with is actual physical exhaustion, which is necessary for quality sleep. Speaking from experience, back when I was in college, I was never particularly tired... I slept, sure, but that sleep—and that feeling when you wake up—is worlds apart from how it feels now that I'm working. I'm not trying to downplay the student grind, but there's a massive difference between falling asleep after surfing the web all day versus falling asleep after finishing a mountain of tasks or hitting a one-hour run in the evening. My partner, when she struggles with insomnia, finds that sex helps her... puts her right to sleep like a baby.
Of course, some people just aren't morning people. For them, the dream scenario would be finding a career where they don't start until noon and mostly work afternoons and evenings.
It seems like that kind of schedule might suit you better. I don't know what your major is, but it's worth considering. There are plenty of careers that don't require a 8:00 AM start.

getting out of bed is just an uphill battle. I feel completely out of it—just stumbling through my day.

I’d give anything to actually feel refreshed in the morning. By the time I get to my lectures at NYU, I’m struggling just to stay awake. My head spins, too—it feels like I'm constantly being tossed around by waves. Maybe it's just low blood pressure?...

When you mention your boyfriend, maybe he’s just working himself to exhaustion and crashing early. I’m not sure if you missed the question, but if you aren't burning energy at work, what else is making you so tired by the evening? My partner is currently dealing with pregnancy stuff, and she’s going through the exact same thing—her entire internal clock is shot. She spends her mornings in a total fog, then can't fall asleep until late at night. She’s just hoping things go back to normal eventually, because she never dealt with any of this when she was working...

When I wake up feeling completely out of sorts for no apparent reason, it usually turns out—once I actually think about it—that we didn't have sex last night. Just fell asleep without any foreplay 😁

What kind of nonsense is this... I mean, if your eyes don't light up and your hair doesn't get shinier just from drinking water—assuming you're actually getting all your nutrients in normally—then how on earth is it supposed to happen when you stop eating entirely......
And as for skin tone.......it tightens up 😁 🙂
If you're fasting, you're probably going to lose weight, which means your skin isn't going to tighten—it'll do the exact opposite...... have you ever seen the skin of someone who dropped pounds overnight????

In my book, a fast should last maybe two or three days at most..... anything beyond that is just overkill and starving yourself...... and as for feeling energetic and full of life while on a diet like this, well, just enjoy it while it lasts 👎

Do you honestly expect an answer when you approach people with this kind of attitude? The ones without any actual experience or a grasp of the medical literature are always my favorites—they sure have plenty of opinions though.

Noah Harris50, what’s your typical schedule look like? It seems like a lot of people—the ones who struggle to function before noon—actually do their best work in the late afternoon or even at night. Personally, I’m more of a morning person; I don't have much trouble getting moving early, but I try to avoid working late into the evening if I can help it. I drink coffee for the ritual of it, but if I really need to wake up, a shower and some exercise do more for me. I usually finish my shower with a blast of cold water 🙂 As for the exercise, it’s been taking a backseat lately—I used to bike to work, but I haven't been doing that much recently 😁 Stay 2 stops early and walk the rest of the way... it's something, I guess. Noah Harris50, have you always felt this isolated in the mornings, or is it just this year—maybe just during the winter months? Could be the seasonal blues...

Alright, look—I’m pulling 50 hours a week at my job, plus some private gigs on the side, and then there's the whole "home life" thing—cooking, cleaning, the usual grind. I need actual energy to function. Going strictly water-only sounds a bit too extreme for me... I know plenty of people who supplement with herbal teas or fresh juices—real stuff, not that processed supermarket junk—but they usually dilute them quite a bit because if you go too heavy on the sugar, it just triggers those hunger pangs.
