Does health insurance cover the Duragesic patch?
Grace Fowler said:Hey everyone!
My heart goes out to anyone who has lost their loved ones... honestly, sometimes I get this wave of anxiety just reading through all these posts... but I manage to push through it and keep moving forward. This coming Wednesday is my sixth-to-last in this cycle... at this stage, my only focus is making sure my WBC and platelet counts stay high enough so I can actually get the treatment... If God wills it, I’m heading to a clinic in Germany next Monday for intensive immunotherapy—I'm holding onto a lot of hope that this will finally make a difference...
Best to you all, wish me luck... Grace

If you want, send me a PM letting me know where in Germany you'll be; if you're nearby, maybe I can stop by to visit or see if there's any way I can help.🤷
I'd really appreciate that.🙂
Radiation therapy is set to kick off this Monday..
The doctor wants to run a few more tests first, but he’s already made his stance clear: if they find any more metastases anywhere else, he’s done. He doesn't want to touch radiation anymore.😢
He just wants it to be over..
Then, out of nowhere today, his nose just started bleeding heavily.🤷
Thanks to everyone...

What’s actually the point of doing ten days of radiation if you're only getting two minutes at a time? It feels like we're just going through the motions.😕

If my gynecologist didn't take me seriously along with everything else, I'd be looking for a new doctor or heading straight to the ER!
I honestly don't know what else to tell you.🤷

Good luck.🙂
Robert, welcome to the group! 🙂

I don't want to overwhelm Jane with private messages, so I'll just post this here instead. 🤷 😉

We really need more detailed discussions regarding head radiation, dealing with metastases, and standard radiation therapy...
What kind of side effects should we actually expect? Does it always result in skin burns? And what are the best ways to manage the process so it goes as smoothly as possible? 😢

Thanks, everyone.
Jane, my heart just breaks for you😢
🙂
darkviper5 said:I’m actually really curious about this too. Could someone please break down what specific ingredients and dosages we should be looking for in high-quality Beta-glucan?
What is the actual technical name I should be searching for?

And why, for example, is this particular one from the US considered good?

Like Amy Hayes28, I’ve stumbled across a bunch of different Beta-glucan options online:
- They range anywhere from 20mg all the way up to 500mg
- Some come with vitamin additives, others don't
- There are endless manufacturers and distributors

Come on, please, enlighten us mere mortals here! 😍

PS. The most ridiculous part is that none of the ones I found in the States cost anywhere near $100 like they do back home!! They're more like $15-$30.

Exactly. I didn't want to rush into anything and look like an idiot by missing something crucial, but honestly, I don't understand any of this stuff!
I was at the pharmacy today and they told me it’s absolutely insane that (Beta-glucan 1.3 D 500 mg 90 capsules) costs over $50 somewhere!!
Does anyone actually know which company produces this Beta-glucan you guys keep talking about?
I’ve been looking into different manufacturers, and honestly, it’s driving me crazy—they all seem to have the exact same ingredients, yet the price gaps are absolutely ridiculous!
I can't thank you all enough!
You guys have been absolutely incredible and so quick to jump in.👍
It is honestly such a relief to know there's a place where you can actually find straight answers and real support when you need it!
😘
Did one of you guys mention some bioenergetics practitioner from (I think) Indianapolis??
I can't seem to find that thread anymore, but I'm positive I read about her here!
Could someone please PM me her number or contact info? 🙏
Thanks
You should really look into the details regarding Propolis. I was actually thinking about getting some for my dad, but apparently, it isn't a silver bullet for every ailment. My father had an issue with his kidney—they actually had to remove it—and the doctors were very clear: people with kidney disease or anyone dealing with impaired renal function shouldn't be taking it!

About two years ago, my husband picked up a computer for his godson.🙂
northernfox9 said:Yeah, it’s true—if you bring up brain issues to someone, at best you just get an eye roll or a condescending pat on the shoulder.
But from what I understand, Amy Hayes28 is actually dealing with a kidney tumor. I apologize if I’m coming off as "know-it-all" here; I was just trying to offer a bit of comfort... though honestly, lately, I find myself grasping at straws too.

Thanks, 😘
I’m not dwelling too much on the tumor itself—it’s going to be surgically removed, plain and simple!
What I’m actually terrified of is metastasis. They mentioned that the renal cortex hasn't been breached yet, but my fear is that once they actually start the surgery, they’ll deliver some bad news—like it has spread through the ureter... or something like that! Honestly, I don't even know what I'm thinking anymore. I’m probably just overthinking things and grasping at straws.
After the surgery, the doctors will provide a specific diet plan, but until then, they say anything goes.😕 The reality is that certain foods are already causing issues right now, leading to pain and bloating. If anyone knows of a specific menu or recipes tailored specifically for kidney patients, I would love to find something so we can cook accordingly. Right now, we're just following vague guidelines like "less meat" and "low salt."
As for boosting the immune system, I read about propolis here on the forum and went ahead and bought some, only to read the very next day that it isn't recommended for kidney patients! Now I’m wondering about Noni and aloe vera??
If anyone has any insight, I would be so grateful.🙂
placidfalcon said:My old man beat the odds about 30 years ago. At first, they gave him maybe six months. Then, after a successful kidney removal surgery, they figured he’d get another five years out of him—but look at him now, nearly 30 years later, and that one remaining kidney works better than most people's two! Now, I'm just praying he can beat this pancreatic tumor too.

That's incredible👍
Unfortunately, mine is getting pretty old; honestly, even the healthiest person wouldn't pull off 30 years like that!
I'm really interested in nutrition. I have a rough idea of what's needed, but I would love it if someone could share some specific recipes tailored for kidney patients?
Does anyone here have any firsthand experience dealing with kidney tumors???
Timothy Cook3 said:Sorry if I’m being annoying or getting in the way

Look, you aren't being annoying, but honestly, if you scroll down, there’s an entire thread filled with a hundred different people having the exact same panic attack as you. At this point, it’s actually becoming a little ridiculous to watch...😘
redbison65 said:Look, maybe you are, maybe you aren't. It's a toss-up! How about we do this: I'll spin my imaginary magic eight ball, and you just yell "stop" whenever you want, and we'll see what it tells us, okay? Just let me know when you're ready...

(no panic😉 )

But now she's just being her usual self🤣
Thomas Phillips2 said:Good grief! That’s definitely not what she wanted to hear 😬; now she won't be able to sleep... In reality, the condom didn't break, she just ate some bad burgers and that's that.

That's what I call being on the exact same wavelength.😛
Maria Nelson24 said:Look, there’s always a possibility that things aren't quite what they seem. I actually had a situation where my own test came back negative, even though I was pregnant. Please, try not to spiral into a panic or stress yourself out too much; honestly, the best advice I can offer you right now is just to stay calm.😘

You’re basically just manifesting this situation right now.🤣
Tomorrow she’ll be freaking out because the test came back negative, and she'll spend the whole day stressing herself into a frenzy.😲
And honestly, what's the best part? All that panic is just going to make her period late anyway.🤣
