I was actually wondering if anyone would start a thread about this. To be honest, a friend talked me into watching it, and I fully expected some typical American action flick, but instead, I ended up with this Mexican film 😬 . It’s a fantastic movie, and the lead actor is absolutely hot 😍
If the Canadian and Kalle Palander take a tumble, we still can't really expect much from Benjamin Raich, yet here is Ivica Kostelić sitting comfortably in the top five. 😉
No. It’s completely unnecessary. Besides, our networks are already saturated with high-quality music programming that could easily feature a music video... 🙄

However, I’d take either of them over our own pathetic squad in those checkered jerseys.😁 That’s a total circus.
That’s just the height of fashion, you clearly have no clue...😬 🥳
I am uncertain if you all caught this morning's broadcast, but Zoran Čutura provided an excellent breakdown regarding the situation with Duje Draganja. 👍
(I am far too exhausted to bother transcribing the details... :zjev: )

I have to wonder how far some of you are willing to go... what exactly is at stake here? What property of yours is being threatened? I cannot fathom where this level of vitriol toward a man you don't even know comes from, especially when his actions won't change your life one bit, for better or worse.
Fine, debate whether he's right or wrong, but this... 🙄

I highly doubt Gips would even consider it; he’s an athlete who understands what it means to be loyal to his country and what it actually implies to turn your back on your nation.
Well, if those Canadians had actually offered the kind of money Qatar is now dangling in front of Duje, I find that hard to believe... 🤔
But it really doesn't matter; everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

However, just imagine this scenario: at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the Qatar national team takes the field featuring Dida, Lilian Thuram, Alessandro Nesta, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Gattuso, Patrick Vieira, Pavel Nedvěd, Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Andriy Shevchenko.
Give me a break.

Now consider this.
IHF World Men's Handball Championship, Germany 2007, the Qatar national team lineup includes Sola, Petar Balic, Metličić, Lacković, Dzomba, Vori, and Sprem.

He’d rather swim for those guys than for some clueless Americans... in the States, he would just be "one of many."
Tuvix said:I believe this is precisely where the core issue lies. If he walks away from swimming and remains in the States, everyone will simply move on as if nothing happened. However, if he swims for Qatar, he’ll be branded a moron, a traitor, a piece of trash—you name it. To be perfectly honest, I would much rather watch him compete for Qatar than see one of the world's premier swimming talents end his career at just 21 years old.
And unfortunately, that is exactly what will happen. Because of an utterly intolerant public that refused to wait and hear both sides of the story before immediately resorting to vitriol, Duje will quit. For heaven's sake, the guy is 21; he's younger than 90% of you on this forum. What has he done to deserve such relentless character assassination? Is being an American really just about some trivial display of patriotism on social media or something similar?
copperpuma96 said:Then there are those people opposing Duje and so on... What exactly do you expect from him? Is he going to stand there singing the anthem of Qatar? Kiss their flag or pretend to enjoy living in that country? His intentions and his goals are perfectly transparent. He is looking to collect his money and cash in on the work he has spent his entire life building. After a few years, he’ll simply retire and live like royalty. As for these fake patriots—those mindless followers of political rhetoric—they just hate and misunderstand everything. That is all they are capable of.
👍 👍 👍
As far as I am concerned, Duje made a move that was more than reasonable. Look, this is the kind of world we live in...
