Linda Adams8 said:Well, now you've gone and picked on me...😢 I'm getting my cake from Vincennes. A few days ago, my dear husband and I went over to taste the flavors, and I didn't have a single complaint... But now you're all claiming I was eating some cheap drugstore junk. Oh, really? What now?😕
Don't sweat the Vincennes thing. My wedding cake was from there and it was absolutely perfect. :-)😘
A dark chocolate or jet-black cake can look incredibly high-end and stunning if you nail the decorations... Picture this: a rich, deep brown chocolate cake paired with a single, delicate lavender orchid. It’s killer. :-) Honestly, it all just comes down to whether that cake color matches your wedding palette. That's the whole game.
I have no clue since I didn't grab any cookies from them myself... Mom ordered a batch from some lady down the street, so I haven't got a prayer of knowing how much they cost. :-)
restlessfox9 ... any moment spent feeling this way ... is just a waste ... you’re going to try again and everything will fall into place next time .... and when that day comes, you’ll be the absolute best mom your kid could ever ask for ...
Rachel Rodriguez11 said:Could someone please tell me how much a wedding cake usually runs, or what you guys ended up paying? I was asking around at Magnolia Bakery and they mentioned a wedding cake would be around $567 plus whatever delivery costs
$567 ??!?!!?!?!? 😲 😲 😲 I mean, that feels a little pricey to me, I guess... though I honestly have no clue what the going rate is for wedding cakes when you're catering to like 180-200 people....
I paid Vinny about $0.50 for a cake for 160 people :-)
Michelle Flores .... uhm .. here I go again ... I didn't hand out cookies to people leaving weddings either :-)))) ... I handed out thank-you notes .. I don't think anyone gave me a hard time about it :-))))
Arthur Turner17 .. I can't really help you there. Even though I used to have those little pastry boxes and ordered them myself, I never actually ended up using them. I wasn't exactly baking cookies to serve to guests at my place.
Joseph Watson10 said:Is it really "provocation" just because not everyone shares your perspective? Are you actually begging the moderators to step in and save you? Good grief! What was I trying to get at, hmm? It’s become quite obvious to me now that you only value guest users if they can help fill your coffers with donations. 😁
Joseph Watson10 .... I think you went a bit overboard there
And honestly, any further comments are just a waste of breath .... I'm done saying another word about this...
I don't think the whole peach thing and vegetarians are even the same issue.... Look, if someone's a vegetarian, obviously I'm not going to shove pork down their throat.😬... But just because there are vegetarians at my wedding doesn't mean I'm cutting out the bacon entirely... I'll just offer a choice...
As for the dessert.... Honestly, with all that heavy food and the massive wedding cake, the specific type of pastry doesn't really matter.... If people don't like peach cobbler, you don't serve it... if they hate honey pastries, you don't serve those either...
But I am absolutely not picking a menu based on what some guest prefers.... At the end of the day, it's MY wedding... Sure, you want the guests to have a good time, but you don't compromise the couple's vision just to please everyone else...😬 😬 😘
Anyway, I'm totally off-topic now so I'll stop. :-))))))))
velvetgull9 said:😠 I'm a sucker for peach rings too! 🙂 😁 😁
velvetgull9, I absolutely live for peaches too... I'm 29... and honestly, they're good enough to die for. Once in Miami, I had a peach that was literally the size of an apple. 😬 😬
Amy Torres4 said:Look, I'm saying this strictly from experience because I've been there... unless you specifically want your guests to be absolutely stuffed with sugar, or you're planning on handing out treats for them to take home later... but isn't the whole point of a wedding to celebrate someone's big day or special evening, rather than just having a massive sugar binge? So, if you ask me, for maybe 150 people, 25 kg is plenty... anything more just ends up in the trash... so you can decide for yourselves.
Listen girls, nobody here is trying to lecture you, I'm just speaking from what I've seen happen in real life... I get this exact kind of reaction from couples all the time when I bring this up... and then they tell me, "But this specific baker said we need way more!" So fine, they go ahead and pay way more, and then they come back to me complaining about how much food was wasted...
Speaking from my own experience... nobody went overboard at my wedding. That's a pretty blunt way to put it, 😬 but honestly? I'd much rather have a full platter on the table than try to stretch three tiny little pieces to make it look like there's actually food there. And for the record... I didn't throw a single dessert away.😘 😍 😍
I think Oprah Winfrey told me the standard was about 8 ounces of cookies per person... I can't remember if she said more, but it definitely wasn't less than that.
I had 163 people show up... and with a choir singing like that, there was barely anything left for me to eat. :-)
Arthur Turner17 said:That sounds great! We still need to nail down the specific flavor and the decor. Personally, I was leaning toward a white or dark chocolate glaze—something minimal, nothing tacky, just a really, really light cake. Thanks for the suggestion; I think I’ll pitch them that exact combo, if you don't mind! I refuse to have a cake that's basically inedible because it's too sugary. It's for a 7-month-old, so I want it to be light. I've had cakes from Vincennes before and they were actually delicious!
Yeah
I don't mind at all 😍 😘
Alexander Moore3... go check the thread. Someone mentioned something about standards for everything... even for cakes. I can't remember exactly how many are required anymore. :-)
That was topped with glaze... and the whole thing was basically a parfait cake.... and if I remember right, there wasn't even any sponge involved... It tasted amazing... but it was light, which is what matters to me :-)
